Train Valley 2 News

Weekly Winner - March 8th

I salute you, devoted ferroequinologists (don't ask) of Train Valley 2. Another week passed and new levels are here to bedazzle certain parts of your gray matter :)

A laid back challenge by @NumbersWoman. The bridge will (most likely) not save you, and seemingly spacious layout isn't there to give you confidence boost too :) Solution variability and specific order not to crash trains at least this one time will keep you company.

A captivating action starring @Gelledee. Paid hyperloops! Seagull invasion! Whopping 140 trains to deliver! Intense and colourful landscape to traverse! Possible smuggling operation secondary plot! Out now in your nearest TV2 workshop :)

@Thomas takes us on a journey to Green Valley, where anything is possible, especially if you have 1 750 000 to earn and subsequently reinvest. A hyperloop haunted forest hides numerous possibilities and peaceful scenery almost tricks you into reversing all your trains just to watch them choo-choo around a bit more.

Observe, for @Gaztibelza has already built everything for us, we just need to demolish exactly zero track tiles. Oh and we can't reverse any trains too. Scheduled arrival of several cargo loads from outside, 50 railroad switches, 50 passenger trains on hold, a couple of sidetracks and 22 minutes to take care of everything that's on your plate.

You can unlock a second station right at the start — sounds like a sensible advice from @Spons83. Might that be a meticulously crafted trap? Heavyport is a fine place to spend next 20 minutes of your evening whatever the answer is, if your idea of a good time is avoiding train crashes, micromanaging your funds and exploring every alternate route to escape those pesky embargo stations.

Shopping can get boring and repetitive, sure, but not today. @LittleBear's TV II MALL is now open and waiting lines were successfully replaced by track building puzzles, delivery times were cut down by airdropping your order straight into your train's cargo hold and the boring part of it was annihilated by a brand new Build Your Own PC workshop right on the premises. Passenger transporting fever outside precedes chaos full of tunnels and bridges inside to make your neurons fire and your input device smoke just a little bit :)

@LittleBear, both glory and a €10 Steam gift card are rightfully yours :) Nicely done!

Don't forget to tell us about your TV2 workshop adventures and visit our Discord server for an upcoming LPT challenge. Until next week!

Level of the Month - February 2021

Welcome to the LEVEL OF THE MONTH showdown! Toughest, meanest levels from all over the workshop gather today to fight for the ULTIMATE CHAMPION OF FEBRUARY 2021 BELT! Making his way to the ring from @BlaiddL3g3nd, weighing 1.441 MB, current Weekly Winner on February 16th, A City...AAPAAART! :)

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2384729361

Every time we have to choose single best level we have a lot of unproductive disagreements over several chats spanning at least a week. Visuals, design, usage of different game mechanics, pacing, difficulty, all those things to keep in mind while assessing handpicked weekly prize winning entries. Now this isn't about our job being hard, that's us pointing out that TV2 workshop has a lot to offer :)

This time your job is to connect two cities divided by a flood. Terrain is damaged and uneven, the infrastructure needs repairs and apparently caoutchouc is the answer :) Your every choice will have consequences — train upgrades, tunnel building, routes built. While your trains are doing all the hard work for you — driving around colourful landscape and not reversing even once, there's a Shelob's relative to find, a giant dragon skeleton to avoid, a 14 minute timer to be a bit nervous about. Plays just as good as it looks.

A City Apart is now the current reigning and defending Champion! @BlaiddL3g3nd, your €30 Steam gift card is on its way. Congratulations!

Train Valley 2 community and developers want you, reader, to bring out your level editor and show us train driving complexity levels we never knew even existed. Build, create, compete. Having fun is a requirement.

extra Let's Play Together - Dockyards

Hello friends! Due to the fact that many people are now forced to be at home in quarantine, we decided to add another Let's Play Together competition in the middle of the week. This is an experiment. There can be different crazy levels. There will be no prizes. Perhaps this will last only for the period of forced isolation, but if everyone likes this extra competition format we will make it permanent.

The rules are the same: log in to our Discord server, keep it running, play a competitive level, complete it with 5 stars and have fun!

Ah, the smell of freshly built tracks in the morning. And it's the first day of spring. Simple things, am I right? Simplicity can be beautiful, especially if it hides complexity underneath :) Hello and welcome to this issue of Choo-Choo Weekly!

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2405093668

So easy its name says "easy" twice :) May look slightly less complicated then some of the entries, but you see there's this tricky turn and then there's a rather sophisticated junction and do you even really need to build that bridge? Not to worry, pondering on the tactics - and this map presents quite a few opportunities - is interesting and delectably easy. It says LOVE at the top too :) Thanks, @无谷丰登!

BUILD A TUNNEL TO USE HIDDEN WORKERS ahem, a map by @LittleBear that takes us to the Red Planet on a mineral extraction mission, and a challenging one at that. You'll need to watch your funds closely to open new routing opportunities, but be sure to overspend because one of the objectives is about doing just that. Done easily though, I mean look at that near zero-G glass factory construction price :)

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2405619638

@Gelledee brings us a "twenty minuter to do" that looks minty (see what I did here?), is interesting to try and keeps you on your toes just the right amount. Shiny new Pioneers strolling around picturesque valleys of Mint will distract you - a lot - and that's a trap this map's creator wants you to walk into :) Don't forget about hyperloops, count your track tiles and you just might make it in time. Easy peasy lemon squeezy :)

This week's top level by @IxAriela is fast, elegant and not even that ruthless. Your goal is to smuggle 6 bars of gold through 3 corrupt customs stations. Paying off the officials and keeping your trains in check were mixed with that one component we praise in this issue. Simplicity is what gives this level it's undeniable flair and makes it so much fun. Congratulations @IxAriela!

Till next week, fellow train drivers. Spring has sprung and brought us new levels, new challenges and new beginnings.
