Free Halloween Holiday Pack is available for wishlisting now!

The House Party - Halloween Holiday Pack, our first ever seasonal DLC, is available for wishlisting now (and completely free for all players)!

Thanks again to everyone who loved House Party's limited-time event and asked for it to become permanent! We were blown away by how much love you doods had for the seasonal update we added, and we're happy to officially say that House Party’s spooky season will be returning permanently!

As promised, we will also be adding a toggle on/off feature for the holiday content, so you'll be able to turn off the Halloween event in-game without having to uninstall or redownload your DLC! Our team is working hard on finalizing this feature and it's looking like we should move into internal private beta testing for it in early 2023!

This feature should make it super convenient for all of you to manage your seasonal DLC in a straightforward visual selection screen within the Main Menu of the game, so we hope you'll really like it!

What’s in the House Party - Halloween Holiday Pack?

Spooky seasonal decorations, like:
🎃 Pumpkins
👻 Spooky Ghosts
☠ A Cheap Skeleton
🕸 Lots Of Spiderwebs
🕷 One Giant Furry Spider
😱 And Many More To Come!

There’s also a chilling succubus/incubus outfit wearable by all “Halloween-minded” characters with the following accessory pieces:
😈 Scary Horns
🦇 Creepy Bat Wings
😉 And A Sexy, Spiky Tail!

We might even have a special surprise for you, too…

So be sure to add the DLC to your wishlist, doods, and get ready to enjoy petrifying decorations and sinister costumes all year at the House Party!

1.0.7 Winter Update Hotfix

Hi all,

A hotfix for the 1.0.7 Winter Update just went out. This updates the French translation of the game, and addresses the following two bugs:

  • Fixed an issue that could cause objects to be un-interactable in certain areas of the game world
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the Clothing ConsoleCommand to execute redundant Clothing GameEvents

Those of you that ran into issues with interacting with Derek on the roof, or the SprayPaintCan during Leah's content should no longer experience those problems.

Cheers!

The Winter Update is Live!

This winter, there are plenty of exciting new decorations around the house! You'll find pine garlands, hanging lights, glowing candy canes, star-shaped lights, ornaments, a snowman, and snowflake window decals all around Madison's house.

The partygoers are dressed with holiday spirit, too; several of House Party's characters are wearing Santa hats, elf hats, and even a festive sweater!

In this cheery update, it will be snowing lightly outside, you'll be able to throw snowballs at other party guests, and Frank will be getting into the spirit of the holidays in a short new themed side-quest! It's a little bigger than our Halloween update was, so we hope you enjoy it!

Will the winter holiday update be a limited-time update like Halloween? Yes and no.

For now, the winter event will be a temporary base game patch. However, because we received such a positive response to our Halloween update, a permanent DLC version of both events will drop sometime early next year - and will be completely free to play! Halloween will be ready first and Winter will follow sometime after that.

Even better, they will also include a much-requested toggle on/off feature, so you will be able to activate or deactivate the seasonal content without uninstalling and reinstalling it!
Keep an eye out, because we'll be making them wishlistable fairly soon!

Just so everyone is aware, we are going to hold off on doing more holiday events in the short term after these ones (but more are still coming). So, while you probably won't see new events for the first half of next year, we are planning new content for Halloween and Winter in late 2023 and will introduce more exciting new holidays beyond that point!

The reason for this is we do need to take some time in early 2023 to work on finalizing the toggle on/off feature, packaging these events into permanent playable DLCs for you, and not get too distracted from focusing on other development that we need to do for the game (like our next mystery guest, VR, and planning Office Party). The holidays are amazing, but they have taken a bit more time than we expected from overall game development, so we do need to slow that timeline a bit!

Also, in the sake of transparency, we wanted to be up-front that things were going really well with PlayStation, but they drastically changed their stance and flipped to to a more Twitch-like position recently…but we’re used to this by now, and we are still discussing content guidelines with them and comparing those guidelines to what’s already on their store with what’s in our game. We have hope they'll come around and work with us on bringing House Party to console. We'll continue to keep you updated on this as time goes on!

Anyway, we have had so much fun doing these seasonal events so far, and we can't wait to expand on them more for you (and add new holidays to the mix)! You've given us amazing feedback to use for our 2023 Halloween and Winter Holiday updates, and now we're going to sit down as a team and plan the best way for us to incorporate this feedback alongside the rest of our development pipeline moving forward!

The winter update is live now...so what are you waiting for? Go play it, partiers! The event will be available to play until January 9th! Deck the balls, doods!

P.S. If you complete the new holiday achievement during the update, you will not have to redo it again when the winter content is a permanent DLC to get 100% completion. However, if you are not around to play during the winter update and you miss the achievement, the achievement will be on the Steam list but unable to complete until the House Party - Winter Holiday Pack is released permanently in Q1 2023.

P.P.S. If you're not feeling the holiday spirit and don't want to play the winter content, don't forget that you can swap back to the regular base game version of the game at any time! To do this, just go to the Steam beta branch and select the previous game version!

Weekly News: Winter Update, Community Feedback and more!

Happy December, doods and lady-doods! The holidays are almost here, and we’ve got some fun news to share about our upcoming winter seasonal update!

Before we get into the details, we just want to give a quick heads-up that we are still working on that Toggle On/Off feature for holiday content that we promised. Although it won’t be ready in time for our winter event, we hope to have it ready for beta testing early next year!

With that said, when it drops, the Winter Event will be a temporary update to the base game (without the toggle feature), but we will release it as a permanent free DLC (just like we’ll be doing with Halloween) with a toggle on/off feature as soon as it's ready after the holiday.

Thanks for being patient with us, doods! We want to make sure this feature is good to go and package the DLCs properly going forward. We definitely focused on getting the content out on time for the holidays first, and are stoked you’re enjoying it enough to make it permanent!

So, what can you look forward to in the winter event?

Thanks to an overwhelming amount of you asking for Seasonal-Themed Opportunities / Short Side Stories, we are planning to release a little holiday Quest that features its own special Steam Achievement!

We also heard you about Seasonal Activities and added a new in-game activity (we'll give you a clue...it has to do with that bucket of snowballs we shared last week).

A bunch of you also asked to see Frank as Santa. Like...a weird amount of you brahs have a kink for seeing the angriest, most aggressive, most domineering dude at the party dressed as the most cheerful, heartwarming, generous man of the season for some reason. Full-body custom outfits take a lot of our artists’ time, so no promises on a full Santa costume (this year), but let's just say Frank will definitely get into the spirit of the holidays!

Speaking of making things happen - but a bit off-topic to the holiday content - did you know in our last update (Stable Release 1.0.6), we also brought back the mechanic where painkillers give a stamina boost and booze (beer, wine, liquor) gives a strength boost?

We had to remove that feature to get House Party ESRB "Mature" rated (you know, so we could get on various platforms that are still giving us a hard time), but it's back in the Explicit Add-On since you guys asked for it on our last dev stream! Enjoy drinking your way to buffness, doods!

You're probably curious to see what we learned from our Holiday Feedback Form, too, right?

Holiday Underwear was one of the most wished-for items on the seasonal list! Although we, unfortunately, couldn’t add sexy holiday lingerie to this upcoming holiday event, we’re keeping this in mind for our upcoming holidays, because a huge number of you wanted it!

Since you weren't too interested in Discord Emojis and Steam Emojis & Stickers, we won't prioritize making those for a while, but, overall, most other holiday features - including all decorations, accessories, and outfits - were quite popular!

The ambiance was surprisingly desired even more than most outfits and decorations, so we are adding falling snow (Weather Effect) to the update coming this winter. Let us know if you like it!

The most loved characters were Ashley, Amy, and Vickie, but there was still a lot of hype for the rest of the party guests! We were also shocked to see tons of love for the next DLC guest already there! We’ll be announcing more soon(™)!

We had a surprising majority of players say it is alright for us to reuse costumes for characters if we can't give everyone something unique, so we will do that if we need to! But, overall, we want to prioritize getting unique costumes for our party guests, when possible!

We got a ton of written feedback responses, too! It's been crazy cool seeing all the wild ideas you doods have for the party. While we can't do all of them, we are chatting about them as a team, drawing inspiration from them, and trying to work on things we see a lot of players writing in and asking for (like Santa Frank)!

P.S. For those of you who are looking forward to Office Party more than the seasonal content, we are still working on it alongside the holiday content, but it will be a long project and we are still in the very early stages of planning and framework development at this time.
