while True: learn() News

Long story short: we have officially released while True: learn() on iOS! There's now one more way to start wrapping your head around machine learning. Get creative! Do it on public transport! Do it on the toilet! Do it while waiting in a line! Make everyone around you wonder what's this handsomely looking game is all about! Spread the word

(Or you know, just hide under a blankie and solve all those delicious puzzles by yourself if you happen to be a loner)

Let us know what you think! Are you going to check the game out on your phone/tablet? Would you maybe prefer Android? Or even Nintendo Switch?

In the meantime, desktop version has been updated as well. Nothing mindblowing this time, but we've fixed some bugs! Especially that one in tutorial levels, when you weren't able to make a second test run because outputs were all clogged by that data from the previous test run... Anyway, it's not there anymore!

We're a bit busy working on that iOS version of the game (look it up the AppStore on August 22!). But that doesn't mean we've forgotten about our fellow PC cats players!

Here's what's new in version 1.1.74

• New interactive room backgrounds
  
• A few memory optimizations
  
• Updated Task Tree interface
  
• Updated tutorials (including startup tutorials)
  
• Updated texts (they're shorter and generally more neat now)
  
• Fixed a bug which kicked you out of tutorial level
  
• Some other minor bug fixes

Long story short, here is the link. The game will become available on August 22 or August 29, depends on our current crunch focused on usability. We decided to make one more (oh boy, here we go again) iteration because we want to make the game extremely player-friendly: for all kinds of players, their kids, and students.

We hope you will enjoy the iOS version. But please be mindful of playtime. As our playtests have shown, game sessions on iPads & iPhones are much longer than on other devices. Do not forget to feed your cat if you have one!

Unfortunately, we have to choose the price from a bunch of presets in the AppStore. We are unable to set regional prices manually. After long research, we decided to choose the mildest price preset with the reduced price for educational institutions. For some regions, it will be cheaper than the PC version, and for others - a bit more expensive.

By the way, Release the cat is in the middle of an interview for a junior machine learning programmer position right now, thanks to the iOS version of the game. Oh, wait, no, Release is sleeping now. Maybe next time... what a classic cat.

Hi all,

Aye-aye, we are sure you are going to ask us how have we managed to come up with an update when we are busy working on the iPhone and iPad port. We are very busy indeed, but we can not simply leave you without a more stable and efficient version of the game. Greet the 1.1.73 update.

- Loading time decreased
- Tens of performance and stability improvements made for iOS
- New interactive objects on the table (find them all!)
- Brand new icon



Today we will hold a huge playtest of the iOS version of the game. What kind of playtest? In the very best traditions of playtests. With pizza, stories about what's good and gone, kitties and etc. What? You thought that playtests are not like this at all? Well, maybe we have our own personal format. We promise to share some photos with you soon.



If you want to join the iOS version test, please drop a message to GospodinNoob in Discord. Please specify your device model (Settings -> General -> Model), iOS version (Settings -> General -> Version) and Apple ID (the email you are using to log into your iOS device).

P.S. We also do have some news on the EDU version of the game, that we are very eager to share but we simply can not do this yet. We want it so badly, but... You will have to wait a little bit more.

How's summer going for you? Back in Moscow, we're almost freezing, and no, that's not because we're in Russia. We're just going through a chilly one.

We even had to make a special in-game item because of that, but we'll speak of it a bit further.

As for our new update, it's hot, hot, HOT. Perhaps. it's the biggest one this summer! Here's what's new:

• We've made the graphics more flexible, meaning that it now supports all kinds of display aspect ratio, not just 16:9. It even fits nicely on ultrawide displays. Or at least it's supposed to (let us know if it doesn't)!
  
• You've asked for it more than once and now it's here: self-driving car levels have been reworked! The tutorial was made way more comprehensive;
  
• Gameplay in the aforementioned levels has been smoothened and now is far less confusing
  
• We've also changed some minor interface elements in those same levels
  
• And we've added a warm and fuzzy blanket to your collective chair, in case your summer is as chilly as ours (or maybe you even live live in the Southern hemisphere and it's winter for you anyway)
  
• We've added some new backgrounds for your obscure in-game workplace. Should be more cozy now, goes well with the blanket, too!
  
• We've fixed some teeny-tiny bugs here and there
  

Now, for the really important stuff! Our very own petting zoo is growing in all kinds of senses! Release the cat now looks prouder than ever:



And the new sheriff is in town! He's at the CEO's desk and the plate says 'Big Boss'. Fits him nicely:



He's actually a degu and his name is Vadim. He's reported to be capable of destroying cages, opening doors and suddenly jumping on you from various kinds of surfaces while you're asleep. And he's a biter. Look how mighty he is (pictured on the right):
