Beat Saber v1.29.4 With Updated Unity Version Released



Hey players, we just released Beat Saber v1.29.4 (Unity Version) on Steam. Please note that this is a “quality of life” update and doesn't include any new music or feature content.

Thank you everyone who participated in testing Alpha and Beta versions. Your feedback was key for us.

Release Notes:
  • Updated Unity version to 2021.3.16f1.
  • The game now uses OpenXR instead of OpenVR on Steam


Known Issues:
  • Haptics are enabled when user disables them through Steam controller bindings for Index and Quest devices
  • Reset orientation button in Steam dashboard does not work

Beta Branch: Beat Saber Updated Unity Version

Beta Branch of Beat Saber on the updated Unity version is available now. Please continue sharing your feedback in case you encounter any issues. Note: This update doesn't include any new music or feature content.

Changes:
  • Updated Unity version to 2021 LTS.
  • OpenXR is now used XR runtime on Steam


Known Issues (Steam):
  • Reset orientation button may not work
  • Changing refresh rate in SteamVR overlay during gameplay may result in black screen
  • Controllers may remain visible when accessing system menu in SteamVR overlay

Beat Saber v1.29.0 With Six New Panic! At The Disco Singles Released



Panic! At The Disco Music Pack is getting supercharged with 6 new singles. The update brings hits like 'Hey Look Ma, I Made It', 'Say Amen (Saturday Night)' and more. The upgraded Music Pack includes advanced in-game environment and lighting, new colors, and revamped original levels, featuring Arc & Chain Notes. The 6 new singles and expanded Music Pack are available now for purchase as additional content for the game.

We see your love for the original beatmaps, our intention for both Imagine Dragons and the Panic! At The Disco original levels is to bring them back this year and this was always the plan. We don't have a release date locked yet but will keep you updated. In the meantime, we developed some new player options that are launching with this release allowing to change how Arcs can be displayed and control of their haptics.

Alpha Branch: Beat Saber Updated Unity Version

Thank you for your feedback on the Alpha Branch of Beat Saber on the updated Unity version. Please continue sharing feedback as this is an important source of information for us.

We understand that for some of you, Alpha Branch might have affected your experience with the way you play Beat Saber. Please know that this update is a crucial step for us to ensure we can continue developing and supporting the game with the latest tools and software in the future. We're working to release the Unity Update within one or two months. In the meantime, we'll be closely watching your feedback and working on fixes to make the transition between the Unity versions as smooth as possible.

If you see an issue where an object is only rendered in one eye, this is due to Unity 2021 LTS removing the Single Pass stereo rendering mode and replacing it with Single Pass Instanced stereo rendering mode. Because of this, shaders needed to be updated. The explanation to the shader changes can be found here:

Hey players,
We just released the Alpha Branch of Beat Saber on the updated Unity version. We'd highly appreciate it if you can test it and provide your feedback before we move to Beta. Note: This update doesn't include any new music or feature content.

Changes:
- Upgrade of Unity version to 2021.3.16f1
- The game now uses OpenXR instead of OpenVR on PC

Known issues

Steam:
- Starting the game without a headset connected will result in a crash
- Reset orientation button may not work

Oculus PC:
- The user pointers may disappear after removing the headset

All platforms:
- Music may not play in the game lobby when loaded in
- Saber orientation may be offset to the default
- Saved scores for any song will be displayed for all other songs in 'Party Mode'
- Scores are not cleared after clicking the 'Clear' button in 'Party Mode'
- Text in Korean and Japanese may look highlighted
- Spectating a multiplayer game will result in the application becoming headlocked
