Progression Loss & Disconnect Issues Update

Hi everyone!

I'm Thomas, the producer of the WW1 Game Series team. We have a patch for you all that hopefully fixes the progression issues (removed/inflated XP) for Verdun and Tannenberg, as well as a high chance of helping with the disconnect issues. For further investigation we added more logging to provide us with more details on the issue going forward. These changes are experimental so please read the following instructions carefully!
UPDATING THE GAME
To update your game to fix the previously named issues, we updated the opentesting branch for both games. This means that the games won't update automatically, you have to switch yourself. We want to be absolutely sure that our changes for data saving don’t influence your progression, so that's why we treat it like an experimental patch.

How to switch:

 • In Steam, right click the game in your list
 • Press Properties (the lowest option)
 • Navigate to the Betas tab
 • Select opentesting from the list.

This should trigger a small update.
RISKS
When you switch to the opentesting branch, your current progression will not be at risk. However, if something turns out to be wrong with our fixes, you might lose the stats you gathered since switching. We did some internal testing, enough to deem it safe enough to deploy it here, but we never know for sure until we test at scale.

If you switch to the opentesting branch and encounter any disconnection and progression issues, please make sure to:

 • Notify us in our community Discord, find the #techsupport channel. You can share it here on Steam as well, but on Discord things go a lot faster!
 • Include your player.log and player-prev.log (how to find them)

By doing this. you will help us identify and fix the problem easier and quicker!

If all goes well, the fix will be applied as a standard update for the games.

Thank you all and good luck on the battlefield!

Christmas Truce in Verdun

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
The Christmas Truce is live in Verdun! From today until January 5, you can call a truce and enter No Man’s Land by choosing the ‘Christmas Truce’ option from the Play menu. The event was inspired by the real Christmas Truces of 1914 on the Western Front. You can read more about the history and process of building the Christmas Truce in this article.
Snowballs, football, and much more!
In the Christmas Truce, the only teams that matter are football teams. Instead of guns, you can throw snowballs at other players, maybe play a friendly game of football on an improvised pitch, or just walk around and enjoy all the little details and scenes the truce map has to offer.

Witness a handshake ceremony yourself in-game.

Relax at the bonfire, listen to recordings of some old Christmas Carols, attend a burial in the temporary peace, and of course…
Send postcards and you could win prizes
In the Christmas Truce map you can find post offices that allow you to send people outside the game digital Christmas cards. Every card you send counts as one entry in a Christmas raffle, where you could win game keys or merch – from peppermint cans to chocolate and coffee!

Merry Christmas everyone!
