PlayStation Plus loses Yakuza, Borderlands, and more 8 more games soon

PlayStation Plus’s catalogue of games is undergoing a few changes this month; we’ll be in receipt of 18 new games, including some great shooters, but we’ll also be losing ten games.

Of the ten games leaving the service, three of them are Yakuza titles, which we’ll be sorry to see go. So, unless you fancy splashing the cash or also have an Xbox Game Pass membership, this will be your last chance to play these games for free.

The ten games leaving PS Plus are:

The new GOG versions of the Yakuza games omit multiple developers and even entire support studios from their credits

Sharp-eyed Yakuza fan Timo654 noticed something strange in the recent GOG re-release of the Yakuza series. Namely, many Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio staff members, as well as entire support studios like Lab42 and QLOC, were omitted from the games' end credits...

Yakuza series' GOG release removed credits for PC port devs and series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi

The entire Yakuza series was recently released on DRM-free PC games retailer GOG, but it seems a number of devs have been removed from the credits.

Generally games releasing DRM-free is quite a good thing, as it means you own the game without needing to worry about having a store client to run it. Recently, Yakuza 0 through 6 was released on GOG, a site where all games are DRM-free, with the entire series receiving a steep discount too. It's a great deal, honestly, but it does come with one caveat - as spotted by Reddit user Timo653 on the Yakuza subreddit, both Lab42 and QLOC were removed from the credits. On top of that, series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi and producer Daisuke Sato have also been removed from the credits, as well as a number of others.

The two developers had been responsible for handling the PC ports for all of the games (Lab42 porting Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 1, QLOC porting Kiwami 2 to Yakuza 6). So it's obviously quite strange that they would both be removed from the credits considering they are the reason the games are even on PC in the first place.

Absurd Yakuza collection is 35 bucks for seven games that our EIC has spent 456 hours playing

Despite being on Steam for years, the Yakuza games have just made their DRM-free debut on GoG.com. This would not be especially notable news were it not for the pretty absurd deal that GoG has managed to score to celebrate. It's offering Yakuza: The Complete Series for just over $34 (£27), a package of seven games in the series that, and we counted this scientifically*, our Yakuza-liking UK editor-in-chief Phil Savage has spent 456 hours playing. That's, like, seven cents an hour...
