Outbreak: The New Nightmare News

The Outbreak series needs your support!

The Outbreak series is created by a solo indie-dev in their free time without funding and much in the way of advertising support. Community involvement in sharing and letting the world know about the game is critical to the future success of the series.

Just a quick request - If you're enjoying these games and you feel they deserve it, PLEASE consider leaving a positive review to share your thoughts with the community. If you have any issues or require support, PLEASE reach out to me here or on Discord for help before filing a negative review. If I'm unable to meet your expectations, you should absolutely share your thoughts. Above all, I'm looking for honest feedback to improve the series.

The response to the Outbreak series has been awesome over the last few years and I would like to keep creating new experiences for years to come. Thank you for your support! :)

Outbreak: The New Nightmare v5.11.0 Released!

To celebrate Outbreak: The New Nightmare's one year anniversary on June 20th, 2018 (Early Access Launch) we have released the v5.11.0 update for Windows, Mac and Linux! This update contains a number of QoL fixes for the game, many inspired by Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles.

This update includes (with additional details here compared to the ingame patch notes):

  • Improved enemy attack hit detection to provide more opportunity for the player to dodge.
  • Players will no longer take damage from touching an enemy's arm during an acid blast and you will only take damage when the enemy is closer to actually making the swing animation. This means there is less chance you'll take damage as they wind up which allows you to juke them easier.
  • Enemy attack collisions were also adjusted which should reduce the chance of you getting moved or locked by an enemy swing and there should be less chance of a collider sticking around after an enemy dies.
  • Greatly reduced the spawn rate of zombies on Normal and Hard difficulty. Normal has almost 45+ seconds added between spawns and Hard has almost 35+ seconds added between spawns.
  • Buffed weapon knockback.
  • Rebalanced weapon spawns in Onslaught mode to provide more power weapons, especially on earlier waves.
  • Adjusted Insane graphics option to improve performance. Other quality settings were adjusted slightly to bring them closer to Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles profiles.
