0.8 Update Cycle Kick Off!

Calling all Quantum Athletes! It’s update time!
We’re thrilled to kick off the 0.8 update cycle, which will be themed around core gameplay improvements. So let us tell you a bit about what to expect!

Tighter character locomotion
After taking a deep dive into our movement code we’ve configured the character movement into something that resulted in what we believe is a faster-feeling and tighter gameplay experience overall.

The game now correctly enforces the speed caps we set, so we’ve been able to boost both horizontal and vertical acceleration values. This results in characters that are quicker to start moving and change direction, but also jumps are now made at Earth-gravity. That’s not all, we also added slight camera-shake reactions to making landfall to provide a better feel to jumping and touching down again.

Timeframed Leaderboards
In addition to the all-time ranked leaderboards, we’ve added ranked leaderboards that only filter out player activity in the last 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days.

We hope this provides players with better ways to measure their performance against people who are playing at the same time as them.

Server instance tick stability improved
We’ve changed the way server instances spin up and down to remove potential CPU spikes when new instances are created. This will result in a more stable tick rate overall, but specially in high server load scenarios.

New Reward Track available!
A new Reward Track with brand-new weapons and athlete skins has been activated!

Other changes
Overpass - Domination map will now have normal chances to appear.
Realigned Playbook default positions throughout all maps.

Quantum League minor update 0.7.4.1

“Gun Jam bug” fixed!?
We mostly decided to do this update because we are 99% confident to have fixed the infamous “Gun Jam bug” that was plaguing matches and tournaments.

This bug caused the weapon to appear “jammed” after a reload, and left its victims unable to shoot with their equipped weapon.

We have tested this one extensively internally and are confident enough to release it. We’re definitely sure we’ve fixed this iteration of the bug, but, as always, a bug may have more than one cause, so just in case stay on the lookout for it for at least some more days, just in case ;)

Double binding for gameplay actions
We’re introducing the ability to double-bind most in-game actions. From the Controls section in the Options screen, you’ll now be able to bind two different inputs to the same action.

Please note that not all possible bindings have been enabled for double-bind. We left out those that we deemed were situational and may have caused unnecessary binding conflicts.

If you find yourself needing to also double-bind those we left out, please let us know!

Cargo is now on the Ranked 2v2 queue
You will now be able to compete “officially” in the league on this map. This should bring much-needed variety to the ranked queue.

We appreciate all those community members who took the time to vote on whether the map was ready for inclusion! It made the decision feel much better knowing we had your support.

Stay tuned to our social channels for the next poll on maps that may make the cut for Ranked!

Update Time! New Game Mode, Weapon Skins and More!

Weapon Skins are here!
We're so happy to finally release weapon cosmetics! We've had a prototype version of this feature cooking for a long time, and it feels great to finally share it with you.

A new item has been added to the main menu, from which you'll be able to access the cosmetics for each weapon. Weapon cosmetics are linked to each weapon, not character, so equipping a skin in one weapon lets all characters play using that weapon skin.

We hope you find one that suits you in the current selection and hope you'll grow your collection with each new update!

New Reward Track live!
In celebration for the addition of weapon skins, a new reward track has been activated! Unlock a legendary skin for the Grenade Launcher by completing the first reward level.

Domination Game Mode
With this update, we're introducing a new Game Mode: Domination. This Game Mode is centered around maintaining a series of objectives distributed around levels under your team's control. Whichever has control over the majority of objectives at the end of the loop, wins the point.

Domination objectives are smaller versions of the Capture mode's points and flip to the color of the clone that walks over it. This enables you to try and establish greater control over the timeline and the arena.

Overpass - Dusk
The team feels that this new game mode can bring a much more cerebral experience to arenas, and this is why we wanted to introduce it by providing an alternate version of our fastest arena: Overpass.

Overpass in Domination now focuses on establishing domination over 5 objectives, distributed on both layers of the arena. Locations of the team spawns and gameplay objects have been modified to make room for the control point.

This version of Overpass has been added to the Casual 1v1 queue for everyone to try out. Additionally, you can test it out in 2v2 from the Custom match screen. Please let us know how you like this new game mode - we are excited to bring both new and adapted levels to this game mode in future updates!

Update on map rotations in Casual queue
We have benched two alt maps from the Casual 1v1 queue: Quantum Arena (day) and Container Yard (night). They are still available in the Custom Match list.

The main reason for this is that now that we're introducing the Domination version of Overpass, we feel that alternate versions of maps should have some gameplay differences in addition to looking differently. In future updates, we will be reintroducing these alternate versions with concrete map layout or even game-mode changes.

Other changes & improvements
  • Grenade Launcher damage envelope tweaked - the damage this weapon's explosions make is now more nuanced based on where and when they go off.
  • Map Game Mode label added to Custom Match.

Roadmap Reveal!

Hey there fellow time travelers, we have some awesome news. The official Early Access Roadmap is here!

We wanted to share with you a special image that contains the major milestones for Early Access, you can find it in the image below!

We also want to tell you about two new features that have made amazing progress and are very close to being released in a new update!

- Weapon Skins:
Our artists have been working hard to add new and exciting skins to your beloved arsenal. These skins will be both available for purchase using your hard-earned Quarks and also as part of future Seasonal Reward tracks. For this initial release, weapon skins will support different color schemes, patterns, design overlays, and materials. But the system will allow us to add completely new geometry and decals stickers in the future. Take a look at some examples here:

- Domination Game Mode:
For the past few months, we've been having a blast as we are testing our new game mode internally. We will go into this mode in more detail in the future but for now, we can say that it involves multiple "locations" that change ownership by just standing on them for an instant.

This creates a great game-play dynamic as control can be obtained or denied very quickly and at any moment during the loop (not only at the last time as in Capture Mode) and you have to be mindful of multiple areas of the map at the same time! Here is a screen of our Overpass Arena, repurposed by the Quantum League for this exciting new competitive mode.

You can expect more details on these updates in the not too distant future, along with some other mind-blowing news coming out tomorrow… So, stay tuned for more updates on THE Time Paradox Shooter!
