Hotfix #12

The game is finally playable again after fixing some backend issues ːsteamhappyː.
I fixed some other small issues as well, which are listed below. It's been a while since I worked on this game, so I hope no issues pop-up, but if there are any don't hesitate to send me a message or post in the forums!

[h3]Patch notes:[/h3]
  • Reduced the difficulty of the default level before wave 15
  • Slightly increased the difficulty for the default level after wave 15
  • Fixed the discord logo not being hidden when opening a menu
  • Fixed V-Sync to disable after changing the graphics settings, even if it was shown as enabled in the settings menu
  • Fixed the DUO leaderboard highscores not being shown correctly
  • Massively increased the performance of all GUI screens (Settings, Perk select, matchmaking etc.)
  • V-Sync is now enabled by default, can still be turned off in the settings
  • Graphics settings now default to ‘High’ instead of ‘Ultra’ by default
  • Game Skin/Post processing now default to ‘Normal’ instead of ‘Purple’
  • Updated Unity version
  • Updated Anti Aliasing

Quality Of Life Update #1

Hey, all!

It has been a while for sure ːcleanhourglassː. I hope you are all doing okay, wishing you the best!

I have been busy with a lot of stuff lately, but I have finally been able to finish this update for The Mutational. It contains a lot of bug fixes and quality of life changes, as well as a revamped tutorial.

I also started working on a patch with some new actual content and bug fixes for multiplayer, which I hope to finish soon.

[h3]Patch notes:[/h3]
  • Keys listed in the tutorial text are now marked in yellow.
  • Buildings you have to place during the tutorial are now marked in orange.
  • Resized tutorial window to be more readable.
  • Rewritten some tutorial text to be more concise.
  • The repair all button is now hidden iff there is nothing to repair.
  • Increased the size of the warning text displayed when not following the tutorial instructions.
  • Reduced the damage of rocket launchers by 10%
  • Reduced the damage of flame throwers by 20%
  • Nerfed The engineer perk: it now reduces turret damage by 10%.
  • Nerfed The dying king perk: The max multiplier is now 3,0x instead of 4.5x.
  • Buffed The luck perk: it now also increases player damage by 100%.
  • Buffed The reversed turret time perk: The bonus now reduces with 10% each wave instead of 20%.
  • Removed the money drone from the game, it didn't really serve a purpose and only confused new players.
  • Reworked the Sniper drone. It now applies a constant amount of damage to each enemy in the beam every second, instead of applying a large amount of damage instantly.
  • Reduced the number of enemies that spawn each wave in multiplayer. Previously 2 players meant 2x the usual amount of enemies, 3 players 3x and 4 players 4x. Now the amount of enemies is always increased by a factor of 2 compared to singleplayer when playing multiplayer regardless of the number of players.
  • Tooltips have been reworked and made more readable.
  • Players are now able to manually close tooltips by pressing 'X' button.
  • The rate at which enemies spawn is now also reduced for 3 and 4 player co-op.
  • The distract tab is removed in path defend maps instead of colored orange and disabled.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the initial perk icon to be uncentered and too small.
  • Fixed a missing collider for a barrel on the endless map.
  • Fixed the repair all button not disappearing after clicking it.
  • Fixed an issue that caused certain tooltips not to trigger on clients in multiplayer.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the object to place a building (the one that follows your mouse) to become invisible if you stopped building while it was colliding with something. This might have caused people to think the actual building menu was broken.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the number of players required to be ready before starting the next not to be updated when a client leaves in multiplayer. Forcing everyone to wait until the timer ran out.
  • Fixed an issue that caused performance problems when placing drones.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the wrong perk to unlock when reaching wave 15 in the level 'double lion'
  • Fixed an issue that caused players to have the wrong outfit color when playing multiplayer with 3 or more people
  • Fixed some text in the tutorial not being visible to the player.
  • Fixed some spelling mistakes in the tutorial.
  • Fixed the next wave text saying "Start Game" instead of "Next Wave" in the tutorial.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the HP bar above players not to appear when playing multiplayer with 3 or more people.
  • Some general performance improvements for later waves.

  • If you place a lot of drones they might act a bit wonky/fly into each other.

A small follow up patch on hotfix #10. Mainly fixing some small balance issues as well as a couple of bugs.

  • You now earn a bit more money on all 'Defend' levels.
  • Slightly reduced the enemy spawn rate on all 'Defend' levels.
  • Fixed some invisible barrels on the endless map.

  • When playing in windowed mode the bottom of the game window might be covered by the windows task bar (preventing you from seeing certain GUI elements). You can manually drag the window up to make these elements visible again.
  • If you place a lot of drones they might act a bit wonky/fly into each other.

A new update for The Mutational is now live! Introducing a lot of quality of life improvements and balance changes. Overall it should be a bit easier to reach wave 15 and it should be easier in general when playing multiplayer (especially in a 3 or 4 player team).

[h3]Patch notes:[/h3]
  • The Mutational discord is now advertised in-game.
  • You can now place a building multiple times by holding the 'Keep Building/Upgrading' key. (default [CTRL])
  • There now appears an arrow in front of a beamer in the shooting direction when placing it.
  • You can no longer place buildings inside the redzone of levels.
  • Reduced audio volume of rockets/barrels.
  • Removed the increased enemy Speed when playing multiplayer, it's now the same as in singleplayer.
  • Reduced the increased enemy HP when playing multiplayer, it's now +5% for every player instead of +10%.
  • Significantly reduced the amount of enemy mines that spawn.
  • Reduced the speed of the mutant king enemy. (The one that speeds up when taking damage)
  • Reduced the speed bonus of the mutant king enemy. (Now max. 2x was 2.6x)
  • Slightly increased the HP of crossbow bags (now slightly higher than normal sandbags)
  • Reduced the price of crossbow bags (Now $10.00 instead of $15.00)
  • Slightly reduced the speed at which enemies heal during a regen wave.
  • Slightly reduced the damage of a beamer.
  • Slightly reduced the occurrence of regeneration waves.
  • Regeneration and Boss waves now no longer appear at the same until wave 15.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the levels 4 and 5 of a beamer to be 8$ cheaper than intended.
  • Fixed an exploit that allowed players to place buildings inside other objects.
  • Fixed an issue that caused multiple shadows for an object to appear in certain levels.
  • Fixed a typo in the fortify perk description.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the speed of the mutant king enemy to be way too high in multiplayer.
  • Reduced the max. amount of enemies being live to increase performance in later waves.
  • Reduced the amount of times enemy positions are synced per second. (Should increase multiplayer performance in later waves)
  • A lot of small improvements to increase performance in later waves.

Hotfix #9

This patch includes one small bug fix and two new perks for the charity dlc!

  • Added a new perk 'Cashback' that unlocks when owning the charity DLC.
  • Added a new perk 'Hunter' that unlocks when owning the charity DLC.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the wrong perk to unlock when reaching wave 15 in the level 'double lion'
  • Some general performance improvements for later waves.
