Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus News

Vote Now

Greetings devout Tech-Priests! Just over a year ago we released Mechanicus into the wild. It was truly a wonderful release. The reception we received from you guys was overwhelming, honestly, you’re the best community we’ve ever had the opportunity to communicate with!

Since release, we’ve had a ton of updates. One of our favourites was certainly the 7 hidden missions, we certainly weren’t expecting you guys to figure that one out as fast as you all did.

Lets also not forget our largest update, the Augment Update. What a beast that was! So many options to create your own experience within the Warhammer 40,000 universe. We’ve also got some Controller support on the way but let’s not shout too loud about that.

To summarise, we know we’re not a multiplayer title, so we’re not changing the game every day to create an ever-shifting environment. This was never the goal. However, we do hope that the immersive art, animations, SFX, music, narrative, gameplay and everything else are enough for us to be worthy of some praise in your damned souls and in this year’s Steam awards.

If you’re a true Tech-Priest or a Xenos Necron, we know you’ve already voted us as your labour of love, and for that, we will forever pray your canticles to the Omnissiah. For all those that haven’t…

You’re a Heretek!

1.3.7 is LIVE

Almost 2 years ago we Announced.
A year ago we released.
...and we're still going!

It’s been one truly spectacular year. We’ve been working on console versions of Mechanicus as you may or may not already know. Going a little furth back we’ve also had the wonderful and well-received Augment Update that gave us all so much more choice! Lastly, let us not forget the Heretek DLC that was launched during the summer. It was a real pleasure to be able to craft new IP in a very unique opportunity and share that with you guys.

Now for what we’re really here for, the update...

The Omnissiah's will has solved the following issues:
  • Fixed: Secutor Command fire ability
  • Fixed: Random Music during battles
  • Fixed: Victory ending when losing the last DLC mission
  • Fixed: Heretek blackscreen issue
  • Fixed: Necron Lord never ends his turn after creating walls
  • Fixed: New Troops units not showing in Cohort screen
  • Fixed: Barrier after loading a save
  • Fixed: Deathmark can shoot a Tech-Priest with the Cog Occultaris buff
  • Fixed: Angered Spirit buff doesn't stack with Exploritor and Dominus
  • Fixed: Litany of Life showing up twice in tech view

Heretek has released!

We've discovered that there is heresy amongst the crew.
Even worse, they might be Hereteks, the most unimaginable form of heresy!

It's been a great journey to get here, but it's been a wonderful one indeed. Mechanicus has only improved month on month since release and it wouldn't have been possible without all the great feedback from our dedicated and truly awesome fans!

As you may have guessed (looks at the art in this post) we’ve released an expansion for Mechanicus!
We’ve even created a +edition called Heretek+. So, if you’re into more sound, more art and an Axe to crush your treacherous foes, then it's worth looking at Heretek+

Augment Update = LIVE

After three weeks of public beta testing the Augment Update is now live!
Over those weeks we’ve been able to tweak the numbers to get the experience just right. With the help of the community (thanks guys you’re the best!) we’ve also been able to iron out the experience.

How much is the Augment Update?

Free! The whole thing is free of charge!

What’s in the Augment Update

Lets just rehash what we said three weeks ago.
There's a lot! Here's a really brief summary;
  • IronMan Mode
  • Permadeath
  • Difficulty settings
  • A huge array of Customisation option for those difficulty settings
  • Exploration has been polished
  • Tons of polish to UI elements, enough to make a servo-skull weep sacred oils
  • Fonts are cleaner
  • Balance changes for a couple of things
  • Turkish localisation added!

But I want to play Mechanicus Classic

We understand that some people don’t like change. That’s understandable, certainly from my personal point of view, us brits can be traditional! Rambling aside, you can still access Mechanicus Classic through the steam beta branch titled mechanicus-classic – 1.1.4 – pre-Augment Update. You can find out how to do this here
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1571440010
The mechanicus-classic branch will stay as 1.1.4 forever. This is to avoid any issues should saved games not be backwards compatible for whatever reason, or you’re a huge fan of vanilla.

Heretek Expansion is available for wishlisting!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1049290/Warhammer_40000_Mechanicus__Heretek/

Heretek is the expansion to the critically acclaimed tactical turn-based Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus. Opening a whole new plot line, Heretek exposes the dark underbelly of the Adeptus Mechanicus faction like never before. Brand new narrative events have been handcrafted once again by Ben Counter, allowing players to uncover what has brought civil unrest to The Caestus Metalican during its campaign at Silva Tenebris. Take on frighteningly familiar foes, a cohort of heretek Tech-Priests that have changed their beliefs and forsaken the name of the Omnissiah. Can you, Magos Dominus Faustinius manage both an assault on the Necrons while being corrupted from within?

Features
  • New Discipline to utilise: Unlock the Xenarite. A discipline that is specialised in using xenotech, a largely forbidden practice for those that follow the Omnissiah! Plus all new augments for you to customise the appearance of your Tech-Priest.
  • 5 new missions: Experience five new missions based in the Ark Mechanicus, each with a new delivery system for narrative. The choices you make will impact the battle for that mission.
  • New weapons to discover: Xeno-altered weapons open up devastating possibilities, coupled with support tech that opens up new play styles.
  • Two new Troops to command: Sicarian Infiltrators and Ruststalkers are now available to unlock. Pass through Necron and Heretek limbs alike with the Transonic Blades of the Ruststalker or take the stealthy route with the Infiltrators and spring an unexpected ambush.
  • New but familiar enemies to face: Face your fellow brother Tech-Priests in an internal conflict over Necron xenotech while also holding back the wakening of the Necrons.
  • New mission environment: Experience combat inside an Ark Mechanicus for the first time in Warhammer 40,000 history.

Open Beta - future update - all welcome!

Let's keep this short,
but informative,
and awesome.

We have an Open Beta!
and here's the run down.

Oh, how busy we have been!
We know we've been silent recently, but all for good reason! We've put our heads down focusing on some things we're not able to announce right now, some things that a few people have discovered over on our Discord channel, and finally, what we're all here for, the purpose of this post, the Augment Update!!!

Now, this isn't the official release, but it's no less important!
This is access to the update before the official release. You can access the update on our PTR beta branch, which you can find out how to join here https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1571440010

What are the key points of the update

There's a lot! So here's a really brief summary;
  • IronMan Mode
  • Permadeath
  • Difficulty settings
  • A huge array of Customisation option for those difficulty settings
  • Exploration has been polished
  • Tons of polish to UI elements, enough to make a servo-skull weep sacred oils
  • Fonts are cleaner
  • Balance changes for a couple of things
  • Turkish localisation added!

Now, this is a really brief list! Check out all the Patch notes, future, current or past in this ultimate ChangeLog

We'd really appreciate any feedback on this build, the more the merrier! If you do please make sure you put 1.2.0 beta into your posts either here or on Discord.

I have an idea for a tickbox or modifier, how do I share this

Well, now we've worked hard at the structure of the Customisable Difficulty while also finding meaningful options for you guys to play with, we want to hear what you have to say!

Please post your ideas in the Customise Difficulty suggestions sub-forum so that we can easily identify them for consideration. Please note not all idea are possible. We will do what we can.

I'm going to wait for final release

Just so you know your saves for the beta will be able to carry over to release ;)
But if you're not a beta person that's fine, we will push this build live sometime in the future.
Now if you're currently in a game, we've made a branch called Mechanicus-Classic for all those that want no disruption from this update.

The Mechanicus-Classic branch will stay as 1.1.4 (the current version) forever. This is to avoid any issues should saved games not be backwards compatible for whatever reason.
