Bloodless Rises!

Greetings, Army of the Night!

Bloodless rises to become the newest playable character in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night!

The Bloodstained community has shown us incredibly support, patience, and understanding as we’ve worked to complete each new stage of development and complete content. To thank the community, we are releasing Bloodless today as our latest playable character! Bloodless is an additional playable character that wasn’t included in the previous Development Roadmap. We still have the unnamed playable character that you see on the Roadmap in development.

Bloodless is available to all players, even if you haven’t previously completed the game. Just start a new game and name the save file BLOODLESS (make sure to use ALLCAPS). You will hear Bloodless’ voice and see her as a character option. Choose her, select your difficulty and start the game!

As you explore the castle, you will discover crystal globes that will grant Bloodless new skills and improve her attributes. Each addition making her more deadly to her enemies. Increase your power and defeat your enemies!

Bloodless is launching for free across all platforms along with updates for Randomizer Mode and bug fixes.

Update Notes

Version 1.18 will address the following issues:
In addition to Bloodless, we are rolling out significant improvements for Randomizer!
Randomizer bug fixes
• Fixed the algorithm so it wouldn't create invalid seeds
 • Implemented safety chests and lamp, so previously invalid seeds can now be completed. These safety chests will contain the required item to complete.

Randomizer number of possibilities.

1152 combinations from settings:

3 GOAL x 2 KEY ITEM x 2 SAVE/WARP x 3 ITEM x 4 ENEMY DROP x 2 CRAFTING x 2 SHOP x 2 QUEST = 1152 combinations

65,536 combinations per set

The seed consists of 31 bits. 15 of those bits are used to store the settings generated by the initial choices the player makes. The remaining 16 bits are used to generate the randomness in the seed.

2^16 = 65,536 combinations.

Total number of possible combinations for the entire mode:

1152 settings x 65,536 seed combinations = 75,487, 472 total combinations.
Other Changes
• Fixed issue with clan names showing in Save File Selection Screen
 • Fixed an issue with clan names in credits
 • Fixed minor audio issues

Thank you for playing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night! We hope you enjoy playing as Bloodless!

Development Roadmap Update

Hello, Army of the Night!

We have updated our Development Roadmap though the first quarter of 2021. The new schedule kicks off (likely) next week with the surprise release of Bloodless as a playable character and improvements to Randomizer.

When you compare the new Roadmap with the previous one, you’ll see that several modes are now planned for the first quarter of 2021. We are still expecting the Crossover Content and Classic Mode to launch in November for all platforms except for Switch, which will drop in December. This change gives us more development time on Chaos and Vs Modes.

As always, the Roadmap is subject to change. We will always let the community know whenever the schedule adjusts.

Due to the change in the Roadmap, we thought it would be a nice bonus for the community to release Bloodless as a playable character! We should point out that Bloodless is an additional playable character. She does not replace the “???? playable character” that you see on the Roadmap.

Along with Bloodless, the next update includes a number of positive improvements for Randomizer. New behind-the-scenes ‘safety chests’ will ensure that items critical to completing a seed will be available. Additionally, the algorithm has been further updated to ensure generated seeds can be completed.

That’s it for now.

Thanks for playing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night!

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on mobile is more than a straight port

iOS and Android owner's Metroidvania libraries are about to get a whole lot spookier, thanks to an upcoming port of Koji Igarashi's Castlevania-inspired Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015, the action-platformer released in 2019 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch to positive fan and critical reception. Now, Chinese developer NetEase Games (Diablo Immortal, The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War) are bringing Bloodstained to mobile platforms via iOS and Android.

It isn't just a straight port, either, as NetEase is introducing a whole host of tweaks and improvements to make skeleton-smashing on mobile every bit as fun as it should be.

The port is set to feature "operation screens suitable for mobile devices, a redesigned system UI, skill shard icons, and a new achievement system." Skill shards and weapon skills, say NetEase, will be displayed on-screen with new "Gothic-style" icons. NetEase is also making it easier to perform special moves, alongside various other tweaks to make Bloodstained run as smooth as possible. You can check out all the details here.
