Half-Life VR mod for 1998 FPS coming to Steam, adds female scientists

An upcoming Half-Life VR mod will be added to the classic FPS game on Steam soon, which will mean you can play the entire trilogy of Half-Life, Half-Life 2 and Half-Life Alyx entirely in VR . The Half-Life VR mod will still be in beta when it comes out, but it'll offer an entirely new way to look at the formative PC game. Sadly though, it's still not Half-Life 3.

Half-Life ray tracing is delayed but Quake ray tracing is finally here

Half-Life ray tracing may have to wait a little longer, as a stunning mod for the Valve FPS is being delayed, but by way of compensation, Quake, the beloved shooter from Bethesda and id Software, has a brand new ray tracing add-on which makes it look better than ever.

This Twitter bot tours Half-Life skyboxes to brighten up your timeline

The second-best way to make Twitter palatable (after simply unfollowing sources of bad tweets) is to follow a load of curated and bot accounts which trickle niceness into your timeline. Today I'd like to suggest adding Skybox Satellite, a Twitter account which shows glimpses of the skies wrapped around maps in GoldSrc games like Half-Life and Counter-Strike. It's sometimes pretty, sometimes nostalgic, and sometimes impressive.

A full hour of Arkane’s scrapped Half-Life game Ravenholm has emerged

Video game documentarians Noclip have released more than an hour of footage from Arkane Studios’ cancelled Half-Life 2 horror spin-off, Ravenholm. The video was originally captured for Noclip’s 2020 documentary about the history of Arkane, the studio behind the much beloved Deathloop and Dishonored series. Ravenholm did feature, albeit briefly, in Noclip's original documentary, but now Noclip producer Danny O’Dwyer has decided it's time to show off a bit more of it, interspersing his gameplay footage with some critical context for what’s going on and the ideas behind it.
