Jupiter is Here! See what's new INSIDE!

INTRODUCTION

Hi - I’m James, the Navigator at 8 Circuit Studios, and I’m looking forward to introducing you to the Project Genesis Pre-Alpha Jupiter milestone.

For this milestone, we have focused on introducing new environments & FPS Level Updates, our second iteration of Ship & Avatar Movement, introduced secret Lore progression, improved support for controllers, updated to Unreal Engine 4.27, and advanced the behavior of our AI Bots!

NEW ENVIRONMENTS & FPS LEVEL UPDATES


After battle testing the environments, you can now play the completely restructured Ring level. With gameplay feedback from the Test Pilots, we've improved many of the level interiors for Onslaught and updated the Outpost map. We've improved time to engagement so you should be able to press the attack on your opponents much more quickly. Jump into the fray and let us know what you think.



SHIP & AVATAR MOVEMENT 2.0

So many of you have asked for improved Ship & Avatar movement and we are excited to hear what you think of the changes in Jupiter! Ship movement now accommodates 2 variations of flight styles and controls, and Avatar movement speed has been significantly increased across ALL Avatars!

SECRET LORE PROGRESSION

You have asked about the Lore behind Project Genesis, and now for the first time in Jupiter the Project Genesis Lore has been interwoven into our progression system. It's still a very early system, so don't expect Shakespeare yet, but you can level up in player-vs-player matches to gain access to hidden biome environments. We're exploring these new locations for future player vs environment gameplay and our single player intro levels!

CONTROLLER SUPPORT IMPROVEMENTS

The requests for improved controller support have been heard, and we have been hard at work ramping up our development for controllers! Lots of progress has been made for Xbox controllers, and we are currently focusing on bringing PlayStation controller support online soon.

UNREAL ENGINE UPDATE 4.27

Project Genesis is now running on Unreal Engine 4.27, and with it comes additional stability for your gameplay, as well as unlocking powerful developer options that will allow us to improve your experience in-game dramatically.

ADVANCED AI BOT BEHAVIOR

AI Bots have been improved in-game and now interact with the environment in a more intuitive manner. AI Bots will now successfully complete objectives, providing they are not killed by the opposing team.

Developer Update - January 15

The Project Genesis Jupiter Pre-Alpha Milestone is Right Around the Corner!


We’re already halfway through January, so that means it’s time to start looking ahead to the hard launch of the pre-alpha milestone release we’re calling Jupiter. Like its namesake, this milestone is a giant new build with tons of exciting new features. Today we’re going to give you a sneak peek on three features we think you’re going to love.

[h2]Dynamic Audio Improvements[/h2]

Improving how everything sounds in turn makes everything feel better. We’ve been fortunate to bring Davor Manojlovic onto our team who has been completely revamping our audio system. This new system exposes you to thrilling and exotic new sounds. For the audiophiles, Davor has remastered key sound effects and has expanded “spacial dimensionality” to immerse you even more deeply into the Project Genesis universe.

[h2]8 Powerful Throwables for Avatars[/h2]

Tactics, strats, and meta - we want to shake things up by giving you more offensive horsepower with throwable ordinance. We’ve also added new defensive throwables to help cover you from ambushes or to boost your changes when completing objectives. Check out these new weapons in Jupiter and let’s get your feedback on how differently the matches feel.

[h2]Secret Lore Additions to the Progression System [/h2]

If you’re a part of our community, or Test Pilot program, you’ve already gotten a chance to experience new features as a part of our Jupiter milestone soft launch. However, we’ve been saving a whole new progression system for the Jupiter hard launch! Many of you have been asking (demanding?) we begin opening up more about the Project Genesis lore. While still in the earliest-of-early stages with our player versus environment systems, we wanted to get your eyes on the new system to try out a new element in Project Genesis: grind PvP to unlock PvE.

[h2]Wounded Warrior Project Test Pilots conclude Cohort 03[/h2]

Over the past several months, Wounded Warrior Project Alumni and Family Support Members have been hard at work stress testing Project Genesis!

The third wave of Wounded Warrior Project Test Pilots, Cohort 03 concluded last week with a Q&A session focused on game development and industry tips!

We are gearing up for the upcoming launch of our Project Genesis Playtest Weekends!

Coming very soon with the release of the Jupiter pre-alpha milestone update, you will be able to play with your friends, stream the game, and capture exciting highlights each weekend through the Steam playtest feature!

[h3]Recently Fixed Bugs[/h3]
  • Shooting a pod in mid-flight causes the dead player to lose all controls except look after respawning
  • Objective icons should better represent complete
  • Boost/Energy meter not depleting when boosting
  • Occasionally you get stuck looking at the floor when your pod is destroyed at the very last second of entry
  • Quickplay button is frequently switching available status
  • A crash occurs when the create squad button is clicked
  • The Autotac7 Fire SFX are super loud during the last 6 shots
  • The FPS Bot weapon fire audio is loud compared to your own
