Kingdom Two Crowns News

Patch Update 1.1.16

"Ah, Monarchs!

Even though your Kingdom has been quiet lately, it's still a welcome sight to see you in full health. Your lands prosper through all the challenges you've overcome, and I can't even imagine what difficulties could hope to confron-"

Suddenly a storm picks up! It rushes through the fields, startling the mounts at the stable and knocking over many an archer. With it carries a voice on the wind.

"Ha Ha Ha, oh mortals... So complacent. That's no fun at all."

As the storm settles, you trudge through your lands, clearing the debris whipped up from the wind; there's one location that stands undisturbed; whatever could this mean?

Hmm, well aside of some Shrine shenanigans, we also have some big news for you; there are now new difficulty settings for Kingdom Two Crowns! We heard you loud and clear when it came to different challenges for different folks, and we hope you enjoy setting up in peaceful or cursed lands. Thank you for being so patient in waiting for us to bring this feature. Please be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!

We'd love to see screenshots of your lands during these new settings or even play by plays of how you got through the toughest difficulty setting!

There are also some good balance changes and bug fixes listed below. If you encounter any issues or bugs, please get in touch with us via our support desk

Now, onto our beautiful bullet points!

 • Added difficulty modes to Kingdom Two Crowns! You can now conquer your Kingdom in one of the following difficulty modes: Peaceful, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Cursed. The different modes will adjust the spawn rate of the Greed to your preference.
 • Norse Lands: There is something strange ab--ᛟᚢᛏ ᚦᛖ ᛊᛏᚨᚠᚠ ᚷᚱᚨᚾᛏᛖᛞ ᛒᛁ ᚦᛖ ᛚᛟᚲᛁ ᛊᚺᚱᛁᚾᛖ… ᚨᛊ ᛁᛟᚢ ᛈᛖᛖᚱ ᛁᚾᛏᛟ ᚦᛖ ᛊᛏᚨᚠᚠ ᛁᛟᚢ ᚲᚨᚾ ᚨᛚᛗᛟᛊᛏ ᚺᛖᚨᚱ ᚦᛖ ᚷᛟᛞ ᛟᚠ ᛗᛁᛊᚲᚺᛁᛖᚠ. ᛁᛊ ᚺᛖ… ᚲᚺᚢᚲᚲᛚᛁᛜ?

Balance changes
 • The game will now give you an extra moment to recover your crown (or dog, in Dire Island) before the game is lost.

Global fixes
 • We did another pass on patching up the coin purse - coins should no longer drop randomly without the ruler's consent. For real this time! (But do tell us if it still happens.)
 • We also fixed an issue that would sometimes cause some coins to turn invisible when making a payment in co-op mode, and an issue that would sometimes cause Players 2’s coin purse to stop working.
 • Your dog should no longer get so excited that it would sometimes disappear while howling at a blood moon.
 • Fixed an issue that made it impossible to switch back to a steed that was previously used by the ruler.
 • Fixed a bug where buildings would sometimes not spawn when revisiting an island in a later reign.
 • Fixed an issue that would cause abandoned bomb barrels and fire barrels to never be used again.
 • Fixed several visual issues with the coat of arms.
 • Norse Lands: The Crusher Greed and the wild boar should now collide properly with the Kelpie’s ice wall ability.
 • Norse Lands: Fixed several issues with Berserker potions and towers.
 • Norse Lands: Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the ruler ability shrine to highlight and purchase a different item while the ruler is making a payment.
 • Minor visual improvements and bug fixes.

Multiplayer
 • Fixed several issues that could appear in online multiplayer with high latency.

Patch Update 1.1.15

Dear monarchs!

Here--
Wait, my monarch, where are you going? What do you mean you've got to try on some new clothes!? And who let these horses loose? Ugh! The amount of work I have to do around here! Well, no matter, let me jot down these newest changes and updates to our lands for all to read.
Bug fixes:
• Patched up the money purse. Coins should no longer drop randomly without the ruler's consent.
 • Fixed an issue that would sometimes prevent the player from sailing away to another island. The issue seems to have been related to the refresh rate of the player's monitor. Please let us know if the problem still occurs by sending a report to our support portal!
 • Archers in the Norse Lands setting should now have enough courage to actually board the boat when the ruler rings the bell, instead of idling by the dock.
 • Removed some sweet tunes so that only one music track, rather than two, is playing over the credits after the player has destroyed the final Greed cave in the campaign.
 • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the game to crash and display a Unity error on boot.
 • The achievements "On the Ninth Day" and "I am an Equestrian" should now trigger correctly.
 • Fixed several mechanics and visual issues for the Crusher Greed.
 • Fixed an issue that would force the game to boot in 5x zoom after the first load, regardless of previous settings.
 • Fixed a visual issue that would sometimes cause the armor to turn invisible on armored Big Greed.
 • Fixed an issue that would cause Big Greed to follow a ruler transformed by Loki or Gebel's ability.
 • Fixed a visual issue that would cause Greed copied by Loki's ability to highlight incorrectly when it suffers damage.
 • Fixed a visual issue in the Shogun setting that would cause the Warhorse mount to display the wrong skin when using the Inspire ability.
 • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the Norse Lands item shrine to cycle to a different item while the ruler was making a payment.
 • Fixed a rare issue that prevented players from earning ranks in Challenge Islands.
 • Fixed the positions of layers and backgrounds for several structures in the game.
 • Fixed an error in the Korean localization.
 • Minor visual, UI, and audio fixes.
Changes:
• Your ruler will now wear the cursed crown in all campaign settings after earning it in all single-player Challenge Islands.
 • The Sleipnir mount will now show the correct running animation in the forest.
 • Units who are called to the walls by the Horn will now stand closer to the action.
 • Players will now have different colored wolf cubs when playing co-op Dire Island in the Shogun setting.
Additions:
• Added a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+F12 on Windows/Linux, Cmd+F12 on Mac) that immediately exports your save file and logs to a zipped file on your desktop. This should prove helpful if you ever need to report an issue to our support portal.
Whew, my hand's cramping after penning all that. Hmm, what else is there to share... Oh! I know, how about this lovely illustration painted by our own dear Monarch. I have no idea what this haiku they've written is about, but perhaps it's a hint of future changes?

Kingdom Two Crowns is 50% off in the Lunar New Year Steam Sale!

Dear Monarchs!

Rejoice for we bring to you glad tidings. Kingdom Two Crowns is part of Steam's Lunar New Year sale! From 27th of January to the 3rd of February 50% fewer coins are needed to buy the game.

Perhaps you've traversed your lands alone for many a season, so now is the time to gift a copy of the game to friends (and foes?) alike. 👑

Hear ye! Steam Trading Cards have arrived!

Dear Monarchs!

The Winter is long and harsh, and we hope that your Kingdom stays strong and hearty during this time (for those of you with lands in the southern hemisphere, well... enjoy your sunshine and bountiful crops!).

We come today bearing gifts, I'm unsure if they'll keep you warm, but I'm optimistic they'll at least bring a smile to your face.

Yes, they're here! You can now get your hands on some lovely Kingdom Two Crowns trading cards!

You can get your own cards just by playing the game; in fact, if you've already played, expect them to pop into your inventory soon. If you wish to complete the set, the rest can be acquired through the Steam Community Market or traded with others via the Trading discussion forum here on Steam.

Crafting a complete set of cards will yield you a lovely game badge that you can display on your user profile. During this process, you can receive random rewards, including emoticons & profile backgrounds.

As a little sneak peek, here are some of my favourites.

Backgrounds
I love how the key art for two crowns gives the perfect negative space to show off my Steam Profile. Including this one, there are three to collect in total!

Emoticons
There are 10 in total, and it was a proper arduous task to narrow down which ones I wanted to show you. Life as a Queen really means making the tough decisions!

(A)Greed is firmly (mostly) an office favourite and we hope you have as much fun with it as we do.

I wanted to take the time to thank you all for your comments and thoughts over the Winter holidays. We've been reading them all and are pleased to announce that difficulty modes is something we're looking into and will be coming in the future! We want to give all you lovely Monarchs the options to play the game with the challenge level that you feel comfortable with. Myself, I love a good Blood Moon and Winter slog, but I sometimes I just want to build myself a lovely little Kingdom without too much thought about those pesky greed. I hope that you, too, will enjoy these different difficulty options in the future.

Long Live You All!
