Those Who Remain News

Those Who Remain @ PAX East

That's right.
As the light at the end of the tunnel (AKA release) approaches, so does the time to show to the public what we've been up to for the last 3 years.

We couldn't be more excited about it - we're going to PAX East, and we're bringing all the dark shadows from Dormont with us.

We'll be at our publisher's booth, so all you need to do is search for some strange immaterial darkness in the show, we'll be there.
You can also listen to the dark whispers and follow the voices, they'll take you to us.

Or you can just search for the Wired Productions' booth, that'll work too.

And last but not least - are you following the game on Twitter?
It's easy to find:

Reporting!

Working on a game like Those Who Remain is both challenging and exciting.
The game is coming for 4 platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch), 11 subtitled languages and 3 fully localized languages (with audio).

This means that when production is nearly complete, there's still a lot to do.
And that's where we are now - although the game is *nearly finished*, playable from beginning to end and with everything working as it should, we're still implementing languages, polishing a few things here and there and doing tests and more tests - it's never too much, and we want the game to be bug-free at launch.

We also have the console ports, which are also shaping up while all this is being worked on. Xbox One version is finished and certified.
It can be a titanic task for a small team, but luckily we have amazing partners that really help pushing things forward.
So when will the game be released? :)
One thing is certain: we don't want to announce a release date that we won't be able to fulfill.

We're working closely with our partners to be sure when we can set a date that makes sense to everyone, and once that happens, the countdown starts.
And this is something that feels very gratifying to us - everyone involved (both our partners) is looking forward to releasing a great game, as polished and fun as it can be.
No cutting corners, no rushed releases, nothing that can harm the player experience.

At the same time, we can't wait to have a release date that we can share to the world.
We're getting there :)

He's also waiting for the release date.

Comparing mirror realities

Hello everyone!

We have a big announcement coming soon. Big! ːenragedː
But until then, check out the differences between the real world and the "other place".

Game options / configuration

Hello everyone,

We want to make a small update about the UI and general configuration that will be available in the game at release.

First, localization.
This is quite important for some players, so we thought about this from the start.
We developed a system that reads localization texts from XML files in realtime, and allows us to change language ingame in realtime.

No need to change branches. Everything is done in a single game build:

Another important thing that many players ask for, is key remapping.
We got you covered - it’s possible to remap the keyboard keys. If you're left-handed, if you don't have a Qwerty keyboard, or if you just want to use other keys, you can easily remap them.
This should be a standard in all PC games, and we entirely support this from the start:

Full gamepad support is also included in the game.
If you're the kind of gamer that enjoys playing from the couch with a wireless controller, we have you covered too:

Here you can see what will be available regarding GFX configuration.
Also important to many players: FOV settings (4k monitor users will appreciate it), Vertical sync (if you like to play with maximum fps), Texture and Shadow quality in case your machine is struggling with the game speed:

Finally, post processing.

We love how the game looks and feels with bloom and noise on and using Temporal anti-aliasing.
Not everyone feels the same though, and with that in mind, we give you the option to change all that too.
Temporal anti-aliasing looks great and makes the game feel more cinematic, but it also introduces a bit of motion blur.
If you don’t like that, there are 3 other Anti-aliasing options available:

Are we missing something in the game options that you feel should be present?
Let us know!
