Armour & Backpacks Update (V0.167)

  • Armour has been added to the game and can be found in level 30 areas. It effectively works the same as body clothing, except that it has extra stats for absorb percentage and durability. You can repair armour for a small fee at the outpost by talking to the Trader.

  • Backpacks have been added to the game. They greatly increase your storage space but some reduce your movement speed slightly. There are currently 7 backpack types that can be looted, and 3 cosmetic only types available from the shop. Note that backpacks can only be found from normal loot spots (not bosses!). If you dont like the idea of seeing a backpack on your character but want the storage space, there is the "Hide Backpack" option in the cosmetics area.

  • 68 new head cosmetics have been added to the game, some which come in multiple colours. A random selection of these will be picked to be available in the store each day.

  • Hazard Armour set now comes in a wide variety of colours: black, white, red, green, blue, yellow, pink, purple, orange and turquoise.

  • You can no longer access the Character Search and Private Trading menus when outside an outpost. You can however still private trade with other players anywhere by clicking on their avatar in-game. This has been done so that you can no longer simply teleport resources across the game world using alts. It also makes it harder use private trades as free storage in the field.

  • I've rewritten a big chunk of the multiplayer code in order to fix various sync bugs. Please note, that at first sync may actually appear
  • worse* because some players will still be logged in with an old, incompatible game version.

  • There are now always 3 challenge events per cycle, one for each level bracket.

  • Player avatars now appear much larger in the Preview and Profile menus and can be rotated by dragging the mouse.

  • Having more items in your inventory than you can carry (IE if you had full inventory then unequipped your backpack) will give you the "Overencumbered" status effect, which makes you much slower.

  • Fixed a bug that would cause ammo count not to work when multiple chainsaws are equipped
  • Fixed various other bugs relating to ammo counts
  • Fixed a bug that would allow you to use the search speed of one character, with another character
  • Fixed a bug that effectively limited stun duration to 1.5 seconds. Stuns can now last up to 5 seconds for zombies and 2 seconds for bosses/mutants
  • Fixed a bug that stopped kick from hitting multiple enemies when having a chainsaw equipped
  • Fixed various bugs with worms
  • Fixed a bug that would stop fat female zombies from counting towards challenge totals
  • Fixed various bugs relating to not enough of certain enemy types spawning in the challenge events
  • Fixed a display bug with the Female Balaclava

NOTE: You will need to quit the game client and install the update on Steam before theses changes take effect. If the game fails to update, logging out of Steam and back in again usually does the trick.

Weekend Event

Everyone gets +100% EXP this weekend because I feel bad about this update taking so damn long :)

P.S The update is finally done and am compiling/uploading now. However I will need to wait until reset tomorrow to make it live (otherwise it'll explode your characters). Again, sorry for all the delays!

Weekend Event

Everyone gets +25% Body Damage and +25% EXP this weekend. Enjoy! :)

P.S Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish the next update in time for a launch this weekend. I basically bit off more than I could chew by trying to implement 68 new pieces of head gear (on top of the Armour/Backpacks, challenge changes & bug fixes) thinking I'd easily be done by Friday. Turned out to be a much bigger job that I expected, but I am still planning to have everything out early next week. Sorry for all the delays, but I do think this update will be worth it :)

Weekend Event

Everyone gets +20% Damage to Mutants and +50% Fuel Loot Quantity this weekend.

Enjoy! :)

Happy Birthday DF2!

Tomorrow DF2 will officially be two years old! To celebrate, everyone will get the following bonuses this weekend:
+100% Unique Find Chance
+100% Elite Find Chance
+100% EXP

This year has really flown by and although I haven't managed to do everything I'd originally hoped, I am overall very happy with the progress that has been made. The DF2 of today is so much better than what we had at our last anniversary, and I have no intention of slowing down. Here's to another year of big updates :)
