The Human Heart in Virtual Reality

Understanding the complex anatomy of the human heart can be difficult. That’s why we added a human heart into Medicalholodeck’s Dissection Master XR application. The very detailed heart comes with more than one hundred annotations, animated bloodstreams, and airways.

Medicalholodeck’s Dissection Master XR now offers a detailed human heart in Virtual Reality. The heart includes animated blood flows, airways and is fully annotated with more than one hundred structures. The heart offers precise anatomical insight, improving personal learning and anatomical education.

Understanding the intertwined anatomy of the human heart from books and 2D media can be difficult. With this update, Medicalholodeck offers the human heart in a very high-resolution, 3D digital edition, fully accessible in virtual reality.

The real human heart was carefully dissected and prepared by a leading anatomist exclusively for Medicalholodeck. The 3D capturing was done using the latest technology, resulting in an incredibly detailed 3D model - showing the outside and inside of the heart chambers and valves.
The paths of arterial and venous blood can now be traced in detail in VR. Additionally, more than one hundred structures were precisely marked. Also, blood streams and airways have been animated to facilitate the understanding of the anatomy.

The result is a fantastic, immersive, and incredibly precise high-resolution 3D model of a human heart, showing all inner and outer structures in VR.

The heart is part of the Dissection Master XR app and is available for download. Dissection Master XR is used worldwide for self-study and anatomical teaching in VR groups. A virtual classroom can be established instantly inside Medicalholodeck, connecting an unlimited number of students.
Human Dissections and Medical Imaging Side by Side

Another unique feature of Medicalholodeck is the ability to display human dissections side by side with medical imaging data in DICOM format, captured by CT, MRI, CBCT, or Echocardiography. The direct comparison of medical imaging data with anatomy dissections improves anatomy teaching and opens up new ways for self-study and medical education.

NEW: 4D Medical Imaging in Virtual Reality

Thanks to modern CT, MRI, and ultrasound devices, the upper body can be recorded in 3D over time, creating medical imaging of a beating heart, a breathing lung, or moving heart valves. These animated images are used for diagnosis and surgical planning. Medicalholodeck’s Medical Imaging XR now enables the import and display of such 4D images in a fully immersive, virtual reality space.

4D medical imaging can be displayed and processed holographically in virtual reality in Medicalholodeck: users can enlarge the data as desired, filter in real-time, crop, and playback at various speeds. The 4D functions are also available in team player mode, allowing location-independent case reports, surgical planning, and teaching.

Improve Diagnostics, Prevention, and Treatment With 4D Data
Medical 4D data plays a vital role in cardiology, thoracic surgery, and heart surgery. It improves diagnostics, prevention, and treatment. Medicalholodeck displays 4D data in a fully immersive virtual reality environment, helping medical professionals to enhance their surgical planning. Today, 4D DICOM data is typically watched on the computer screen.
