Dev Talk: Faction Fortresses

The Realm Divided update is just around the corner, ready to unleash a new era of Faction Warfare. Following our previous Dev Talks on the update (see here and here), it’s time to take a look at the mighty Faction Fortresses at the heart of the new system, and the battles that surround them. Join Game Director Moritz Bokelmann, Senior Producer Luis Dellinger, and Game Designer Marco Nogielsky to learn more.

[h3]Supply War[/h3]
When an attack is declared on a Province, it becomes an active conflict zone. Faction Warfare activities in these conflict zones can contribute to your Faction’s cause in the form of Supplies:
  • Supplies represent your Faction’s logistical state in a Province
  • Both attacking and defending Factions strive to generate supplies
  • These are generated from clearing Faction Camps, opening Faction Chests, and controlling Outposts
  • At set times during the day, the state of play is assessed:
    • If the defending Faction holds the lead in Supplies, the attack is repelled and that particular conflict is over
    • If the attacking Faction holds the lead in Supplies, the conflict moves onto the next stage: a Faction Fortress Siege

[h3]Fortress Sieges[/h3]
Sieges are the decisive moments in a conflict, and determine who controls a Province. Attackers attempt to break down the walls and gates of a Faction Fortress using Siege Hammers, while the defenders try to drive them back.

Weapons Caches

During a Siege, Weapons Caches can appear outside the Fortress walls.
  • Both attackers and defenders can try to claim these
  • When defenders capture a Weapons Cache, their defensive progress is boosted
  • When attackers capture a Weapons Cache, some of the defenders’ progress is drained
  • They also grant stacking buffs to the side that captures them

These Weapons Caches provide focal points that draw players into the open battlefield, and can determine the outcome of a Siege.

Last Stand

If the attackers breach the innermost walls of a Fortress, the defenders enter a Last Stand.
  • Strong Faction Guards appear at the heart of the Fortress
  • This halts the attackers’ progress, giving the defenders a final chance to rally and repel the attack

If the attackers capture the Fortress, they gain control of the Province. Otherwise, it remains in the hands of the defenders. Once a Siege is over, Factions automatically declare new attacks on neighboring Provinces, ensuring that the overall conflict on the Royal Continent is ever-evolving.

[h3]Rewards[/h3]
Faction-flagged players receive Fame, Silver, and loot bonuses in Provinces their Faction controls or is contesting. And in addition, there are some brand-new rewards to be earned through Faction Warfare:
  • Faction Soldier vanity set
  • Faction Soldier Avatar
  • Faction Soldier Avatar Ring

These rewards display the colors of whichever Faction you are currently flagged for. Meanwhile, Faction Capes and Faction Mounts have had their spells, costs, and balancing reviewed, to help them feel more competitive.

With Realm Divided, Faction Warfare is evolving into a massive, continent-spanning conflict in which every battle can make a difference. We can’t wait for you to get involved, and we'll see you when it launches on November 24!

Tune in to the Final Invasion Day of Season 29

Season 29 has been a wild one: new challengers rising to the top, long-standing empires on the brink of collapse, and drama unfolding across the Outlands as coalitions fracture, alliances shift, and once-secure powers are forced from their historic strongholds. With the season finale just around the corner, we can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

Here’s how things stand heading into the finale:
  • Albion Asia: Following weeks of growing tension and rumors of internal fractures, All Rise continues to live up to its name, holding firmly onto the top spot. They head into the final weekend with over 1.1 million Season Points, maintaining a comfortable lead ahead of Stellar Alliance in second with 840,000, and PURE GOLD in third with 725,000. Unless something truly unexpected happens, we don’t anticipate much movement among the top three on Albion Asia.
  • Albion Europe: Picking up where our last recap left off, the political drama on Albion Europe has only intensified. With Take Care holding first place heading into the final weekend, all eyes are on Heralds of Valhalla and Skoggangr, whose rivalry has defined the season, while Utopia in fourth could yet complicate things. Earlier in the season, Skoggangr split from the GIRTH coalition after disagreements with Heralds of Valhalla, sparking raids and bitter feuds that still echo across Albion. With the end in sight, the question remains: can Skoggangr break into second, or will Heralds of Valhalla hold the line?
  • Albion Americas: After a season of relentless warfare and mounting casualties, Albion Americas is heading into one of its most explosive finales yet. The conflict between the BOBER and N10 alliances shows no sign of slowing, and the last weekend could bring one of the bloodiest endings in recent memory. Make Albion Great Again, representing N10, holds a commanding lead with 250,000 Season Points ahead of Rogue Natives and INTERDITS. A late surge for second could still happen, and with the ongoing war locking guilds into territorial fights, anything is possible.

Creator Spotlight: El Alquimista

Creator Spotlight is a series where we shine a light on Albion Online’s dedicated Content Creators by sharing their stories, unique perspectives, and favorite moments. Get to know them and, if you’re intrigued, follow their channels for more!

[h3]ElAlquimista_1989[/h3]What is the main content you create on Twitch/YouTube?

I like my content to be varied, but I mainly focus on economy guides, gathering, refining, and crafting, as well as analysis of game updates, but I always try to add a bit of humor.

How and when did you get into creating Albion Online content?

My start as a content creator goes hand in hand with Albion Online. I began playing casually, and the game’s economy caught my attention. That’s when I realized I could help other players with that knowledge, and I started making videos for fun. Over time, the community grew, and it became a central part of my life. So yes, I owe my entry into YouTube and content creation entirely to Albion.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Do you have a favorite video of yours that you think everyone should have seen? Let us know why it's special!

It’s not the most-watched one, but it’s a video I’m really proud of. The tips it gives for keeping a healthy economy and being able to sustain more dangerous content can help both new and experienced players. I also really like the editing style, since I always try to add humor to make the financial side of the game more enjoyable.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Do you have any new content in the making that you would like to tease?

Yes! I’m starting a series of episodic videos about gathering, compiling all the information I’ve collected over the years so players can find it in an organized way.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
What advice would you give other players who are considering becoming Albion Online content creators?

I believe consistency is important, but above all, authenticity. Don’t try to be like others, find your own path. Whether you make YouTube videos or live content, the most important thing is to be yourself beyond your main topic. Some people like PvP, others ganking or PvE, but what really makes the difference is the creator’s personality and the love they put into their work.

Behind the Banner: Laughing Boulevard

Behind the Banner is a series that shines a light on Albion's many diverse guilds, from fierce PvP warbands to tight-knit social communities. Each episode delves into the identity, playstyle, and goals of a different guild, offering a glimpse into what life is really like behind the banner.

  • Guild Name: Laughing Boulevard
  • Guild Leader:  Enirs
  • Date Founded: February 2024
  • Size: 150~200 members
  • Primary Language: Vietnamese and English
  • Server: Albion Asia
  • Discord: discord.gg/bK9fRmNN3G

Tell us about your guild.

Laughing Boulevard began when Wozard and his friends decided to play under one banner after experiencing the game in their own ways. At the start, we had no grand vision, just a place where members could shape their own adventures, free from politics and strict rules.

Over time, new faces joined while old friends moved on. Leadership eventually passed to our current Guild Master, Enirs, marking our shift from a laid-back group to a formidable PvP-first guild. We sharpened our zerg through practice and discipline, learning from every defeat and building on every victory. The Laughing Boulevard that now strikes fear into our opposition was forged through countless hard-fought battles.

Why did you choose this name? Is there a story or meaning behind it?

We wanted a name that reflected our mentality when playing the game: having a good time and sharing laughter with friends. The person who suggested it first wanted to reserve it for our alliance, with “Death Comedy” as the actual guild name. But as soon as “Laughing Boulevard” was mentioned, everyone agreed that was the one.

What sort of activities do you focus on?

We mainly focus on PvP content. From small to mid-scale or even large-scale ZvZ, we’ll take every chance we get for a good fight. For us, PvP is where Albion really peaks. The thrill of battle and the loot left behind by our enemies are enough to wash away all our stress after a long day. But to get there, we have to win, and to win, we have to be strong, even the strongest.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
What sort of members are you looking for?

We’re always looking for like-minded players who share our passion for PvP and, above all, who are eager to improve and be part of something greater.

Where is your guild primarily located?

We are the strongest warriors, forged in the cold and unforgiving winters of Fort Sterling. This city is home to the mightiest guilds, and it’s no exaggeration to say Fort Sterling is where the strong rise and the weak are weeded out.

Do you have any rivalries or ongoing quarrels with other guilds?

We’ve faced many formidable opponents, and each one became part of our history. Our first major rival, who later became our steadfast ally, was Journey Uncharted. In our early seasons, they were both our toughest enemy and a model of what a strong, disciplined zerg could be. Eventually, we caught up to them, and during our push for top 10 Crystal in Season 28, they stood beside us as brothers-in-arms.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Later, we took on some of Albion East’s most respected guilds: Peony Flower (PLAC), The Flying Dutchman, All Rise, Sunset, and Upper Class. We learned far more from our defeats than our victories, but we’re proud of every win. We’ve also shared many thrilling battles and lasting friendships with many other guilds along the way.

What are some of your most memorable battles or activities?

We’ve been through countless battles, each one memorable in its own way. These encounters have shaped us into the guild we are today: one that refuses to be stopped, constantly adapting and improving for whatever awaits us.

Among our greatest achievements, we wiped Peony Flower three times on our home turf, achieved 101 kills with only 4 deaths while outnumbered two-to-one by Griffin Empire, and broke our long-standing caster curse on AlbionTV by securing 137 kills with only 21 deaths against 108 members of the PLAC Alliance with just 58 of our own.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
You can find many more of our best moments on our YouTube channel.

What does your guild do for fun?

When we’re not chasing glory in battle, we enjoy Albion’s simpler pleasures: Fame grinding, gathering, open-world roaming, and just spending time together. Our Discord community feels like a big family where we share not only game moments but real-life ones too. During the off-season, we hold events like Albion Battle Royale and Mule Races. But one of our best events happened in real life, when 30 of our members got together for an amazing time of camaraderie.

What is your guild's approach to the game? Do you have any core values or beliefs that guide how you play together?

We run on a non-mandatory principle. Gaming should be fun and free, so we don’t force participation. Our members fight alongside us not because of rules or obligations, but for their friends, their community, and their own goals. From the biggest Calls to Arms to the smallest skirmishes, everything is optional. Laughing Boulevard is a place where you can find connections, enjoy the game your way, and still experience the thrill of passion-driven PvP without the pressure.

What are your goals for the future?

Fort Sterling alone feels too small for us now, so we’ve embarked on a crusade across all five portals of Albion. We’re chasing new horizons and battles beyond anything we’ve known. Our long-term goal is to build a 50-70 man zerg that can stand firm against anyone. As long as the Laughing Boulevard banner flies in the Outlands, we’ll keep proving who we are and how we fight.

Anything else to share about your guild?

For the longest time, we had a “caster curse”: Whenever AlbionTV focused on us, we’d lose. But we finally broke it in the best way possible, defeating PLAC’s alliance while heavily outnumbered.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
To strengthen engagement between members and raise awareness of Albion’s politics, we even created our own guild newspaper.
