Help us to choose new community-created screenshot for the game store page!

Hello, Comrades! Yesterday, 16 April, the player with the nickname Fegelein had sent a set of SM: Spectre of Communism screenshots to our Discord server. We really liked those, so we decided to choose one of them and add it to the game Store page on Steam.

The team could not agree on which screenshot is better, so we decided to turn to the community for help. Please, let us know in the comments which screenshot in your opinion would make the best addition to the current Strategic Mind: Spectre of Communism store page. The one with the most votes will be added to the Store page next Saturday (24 April).

Which screenshot would you have added to Store page? Let us know by writing the number in the comments:

Units in Fight for Freedom #16: US strategic bombers

Carpet bombings make for some of the most striking images of the Second World War - there’s a reason why the sight of leveled cities was often described as “moonscape”. Not many planes were capable of bringing such destructive power across such great distances - and the United States Air Force had an entire series of them.
B-17
The legendary B-17 “Flying Fortress” was a sturdy and reliable machine. Its payload was respectable, and its overall performance sufficed for hundreds of bombing raids across the entire Germany. The largest raid ever conducted by the Americans on Berlin consisted mostly of B-17s - and their combined might was horrifying.
B-29
Then, B-29 came around, dubbed “Superfortress” - its payload was 9000 kg. They wrought havoc across the Pacific, including the firebombing of Tokyo, and the nuclear detonations over Hiroshima and Nagasaki - the three most destructive air raids in the history of mankind.
B-36
B-36 was slated to become their successor, improved in every regard, but by 1946, it was too little, too late. Although, it is not too late for them in Strategic Mind: Fight for Freedom, as we have an alternate history ending in 1946, allowing you to use B-36 in battle.
Strategic bombers in Fight for Freedom
In the US campaign, for the first time in the Strategic Mind series, the player would have the
option to acquire Strategic bombers as core units. All three units: B-17, B-29, and B-36 will be available for upgrades as one series, which makes upgrades cheaper. They will have passive ability Overwatch breakthrough (similar to that of the fighters, but no need to activate it). Another unique skill is Strategic bomber, that allows the flying fortresses to deal extra damage to infrastructure and reduce the ammo and fuel of the enemy units by destroying their supplies. On top of that their combat parameters, especially defense, will be quite high. All this glory comes at a hefty cost though, both for the acquisition and repair.

Developer’s Diaries # 14: Creating cinematics soundtrack

Hello, guys! Today, we want to share with you some of the musical tracks that were created specifically for the cinematics in Strategic Mind: Fight for Freedom. All these tracks and many more will be available to Strategic Mind Franchise Soundtrack owners right after SM: Fight for Freedom release. Those of you who purchased the Franchise soundtrack before have helped us to almost double the overall soundtrack length in the project since we used the money gained from soundtrack sales to boost our sound-related budget. So, we are really grateful. We will keep expanding the Franchise Soundtrack with all tracks from the upcoming projects for no extra fees.

In general, all in-game music can be divided into several categories:

1. Cinematic music (plays in certain cinematics):
 • All tracks used in cinematics only.

2. Gameplay music (plays during gameplay):
 • All historical music record for the project (some well-known marches etc)
 • In-game tracks created for this project.

Sometimes we could use some historical tracks in cinematics as well. Today, we are talking about cinematic music and we will share with you some historical tracks at a later date.
Eastern motives
For Strategic Mind: Fight for Freedom we created a couple of tracks with Eastern motives for the events taking place in North Africa. Here is one of them:
Normandy landings - a tough homecoming
The return of Allied troops to Europe brings a plethora of feelings: pride, anxiety, determination. We think this track does justice to that difficult yet glorious day in our history.
Alternate history comes
In 1946 Allies were forced to begin a new war, this time against arguably an even stronger foe. Will they be able to free the Peoples of Europe from Stalin’s rule in 1946?
A special case
Finally, we want to share the only famous classic music track that we included in the list of cinematic music at the insistence of our Cinematics Director Constantine. Usually, we create unique tracks for the cinematics, but this time Constantine asked for one classical music masterpiece to be recorded by Draba studio specifically for one of the UK campaign scenes he had in mind. The music is Handel’s Sarabande.

Could you guess what scene or event will accompany this masterpiece? Let us know in the comments:

Stay tuned as we have many more interesting details to tell you about the upcoming project.

Have a nice day!

Studio news, Polish localization, and more

General! Our ever-vigilant intelligence service has prepared a news update, for your eyes only!
Here are all of our spy’s key findings.
Starni Games insides
Our team has quickly adjusted to working remote and we keep putting all of our efforts into bringing Strategic Mind: Fight for freedom to life. Today, we have crossed the 100-hours mark at the sound recording studio and the work on the VO proceeds well. We expect to finish it by the end of the next week. The transport lockdown imposed additional difficulties and costs, as we have to pay taxi to both our employees both ways every day of the recording. Still we cannot allow the recording to be delayed, as we would not meet the production schedule. Also, the Daraba Studio has finished working on the music for the cinematics, so will share some of the tracks with you later this week.
Fight for Freedom gets a Polish localization
As some of you may know, we had a Polish localization in both Strategic Mind: The Pacific and Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg. Yet, the financial results were not enough to even cover the translation fee, so we decided to skip it in Strategic Mind: Spectre of Communism to make sure we fit into the overall project budget.

In Strategic Mind: Fight for Freedom, there are Polish troops fighting on the Allies side and in the alternate history part of the campaign - Allies liberate Poland from under Stalin's rule. So, we wanted to make sure the players from Poland would have an option to play in their native language.
Today, we are proud to announce that Strategic Mind: Fight for Freedom will feature the Polish localization, despite it being questionable in terms of potential revenue.

Weekly Feature #5: Zone of Control

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Hello guys! Today, we will explain how the Zone of Control (ZoC) mechanic works in the Strategic Mind series. This mechanics exists in many games, but there are different ways to approach it. So, watch the video to see how everything works in our case and use that knowledge to your advantage next time you play Strategic Mind.
About the Weekly feature series
The Strategic Mind series has a quite sophisticated set of core mechanics, some of which are a novelty for the genre, for example, the supply system. The upside is that the game has lots to explore even for seasoned wargame veterans and offers everyone a new experience. The downside is that oftentimes the players lack the time to master all the core mechanics, especially after a hard working week, when you want to spend more time with your family during the weekend.

We have decided to start a new series of short tutorial videos called Weekly feature. In this series, we will have a closer look at one core mechanic at a time. We hope that it will help the new players to grasp the game faster, and the veteran players to learn a couple of new tricks. For example, we will explain in more detail the Surrender mechanic or the damage calculation rules. It should be especially helpful to the players who are new to the wargame genre.
