Strategic aviation in Strategic Mind: The Pacific
Strategic aviation (also known as long-range bomber planes) was designed to carry out bombing runs from distant locations. It was able to destroy the enemy infrastructure even without the control of the airfields nearby. It was not efficient in dealing with naval or land forces, however, its purpose was to destroy the enemy infrastructure and disrupt its supplies and military production.
Strategic targets such as factories, cities, military bases and large supply depots were all in danger of being destroyed by strategic aviation.
In Strategic Mind: The Pacific such aerial strikes are ordered by the commander via corresponding HQ skill. It is a good way to help your troops deal with heavily fortified land bases and to destroy enemy infrastructure.
The US operates the famous Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress throughout the war.
While the Empire of Japan employes H8K2 flying boat for this purpose. Its advantage was the ability to land on water, where it could have been refueled by submarine for even longer range operations.
And let us not forget about the US B-29 Superfortress which was modified to carry out the atomic bombing of Japan in 1945.
