The Riftbreaker Stability Update, October 15th 2021

Hello Riftbreakers!

First of all, thank you for all of the positive feedback and constructive criticism that you're sharing with us! The game's reception has blown us away. We are safe to say that the immense support that you have shown us will allow us to develop The Rfitbreaker further for a long time to come. Before we move onto working on new additions to the game our top priority is to provide the most important stability and quality of life improvements.

We have just published a hotfix for The Riftbreaker, addressing some of the most common issues you have encountered with the game. Thank you for reporting these. Here is the list of changes for today's patch:

The Riftbreaker Stability Update, October 15th 2021:

 • Fixed some of the crashes on DirectX 12 that happened when raytracing was enabled. We also improved our messaging due to this issue. The game will inform you to try the DirectX 11 mode if you encounter issues with DirectX 12.
 • Fixed memory corruption related crashes after opening or closing the inventory screen.
 • Fixed memory corruption related crashes after opening Tower Mod menu or Sapling menu in the Cultivators.
 • Fixed crashes when travelling to another biome using the Planetary Scanner screen.
 • The app will no longer crash if Steam fails to initialize - it will shut down gracefully.
 • DirectX 12 debug options have been removed from the launcher.
 • Threading stability fixes have been introduced to prevent crashes.
 • Fixed crashes that happened due to use of the auto-aim mod on certain weapons.
 • The Tower Mod menu and Sapling menu no longer display gamepad key prompts when playing on keyboard.
 • Bioscanner action key can now be rebound.
 • Canadian French keyboards are no longer detected as AZERTY.

Thank you for all the crash reports and posts with information that helped us fix these issues. We are working on improvements and fixes for other problems that you have reported. We are planning to release a larger patch by the end of the next week, further improving stability and introducing balance changes to many areas of the game ( especially for Hard and Brutal campaign mode settings).

Thank you for your help and support!

The Riftbreaker is Available Now!

Hello Riftbreakers!

The wait is over. The Riftbreaker is now available!

After almost 4 years of development, we are finally able to share the 1.0 version of The Riftbreaker with you. Thank you for the support and patience that you have given us during this process. Your feedback has changed the game for the better, and the countless hours you spent playtesting the Beta have allowed us to eliminate thousands of potential issues.

If you would like to learn all about what The Riftbreaker features are, we prepared a launch video that walks through what you can see in the game. You can view it here:

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

If you can’t watch the video right now, here’s a text description for you:
CAMPAIGN MODE
In the Story Campaign, you will join Ashley S. Nowak and her robotic companion, Mr. Riggs, on their mission to prepare Galatea 37 for colonization. During your stay in this alien world, you will visit multiple biomes, research and catalog various exotic species of flora and fauna, as well as set up a thriving network of bases, spanning all over the Galatean globe. The Campaign is available in four difficulty modes, allowing you to adjust the gameplay to your preferences. The pace of progress in the campaign is entirely up to you. You can either complete all objectives as soon as they become available or take the scenic route, gathering knowledge, discovering secrets, and perfecting your economic and defensive setup. Play any way you like!
SURVIVAL MODE
Missions in the Survival Mode are more “bite-sized” and action-packed, designed to be completed in one session. During a Survival run, you will have to quickly set up your defenses and prepare for battle against hordes of Galatean creatures, increasing in strength and numbers over time. The faster pace of the Survival mode is offset by shorter research and reduced building costs for many structures, allowing you to catch up to the power level necessary to survive. Completing survival missions will unlock unique rewards that you will be able to use in any game mode as well as progressively harder biomes.
SANDBOX MODE
The Sandbox Mode is a special setting in the Survival Mode menu. If you choose this mode, you will never be attacked by any wave of enemy creatures. You are free to build up a base of your dreams, try out new technologies, and practice your planning and management skills.
CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY
Try out all the latest features of The Schmetterling 2.0 engine. Ray-traced shadows, ray-traced ambient occlusion, and support for a whole range of AMD FidelityFX features, including the newest Super Resolution - it’s all there. These options will allow you to enjoy high-fidelity graphics while keeping great performance. Apart from visual effects, we also take advantage of the developments in the world of gamepads. We support Impulse Triggers on the Xbox controller, as well as Adaptive Triggers on the Dualsense. Or you could stick to the good old mouse and keyboard - complete with a custom Razer Chroma profile highlighting the keys used in the game!
FULL MODDABILITY
The internal file structure of the game is really simple and clear - perfect for taking a look inside and tinkering with. The modding community on our Discord has already created a number of fantastic mods for the Prologue and we’re sure that we’ll see many more for the full game.
WHAT’S NEXT
This is not the end of the road for The Riftbreaker - it is just the beginning. We have plans to support the game long-term with regular updates, new content releases, and DLCs. We are also planning to ship the full suite of our internal editing tools that you can use to create whatever you like. They will be coming soon in one of the post-release updates.

We strongly encourage you to join our Discord server at www.discord.gg/exorstudios - it’s always the easiest to catch us there. It’s also home to our vibrant modding community.

We can’t wait to see how you like the game. We hope you will have as much fun playing, as we did while developing the game.

Have fun!
