BALANCE CHANGES
This release, just like any other, will bring some balance changes. We continue buffing vanilla cards.
 • Seasick Bouncers’ strength is now 10/12/14/17/20 (up from 8/10/12/15/18).
 • Fort of Ebonrock’s strength is now 5/6/7/8/9 (up from 4/5/6/7/8).
 • Calming Spirits’ strength is now 12/15/18/22/26 (up from 10/13/16/20/24).
 • Cabin Girls’ strength is now 6/7/8/9/11 (up from 5/6/7/8/10).
 • Flameless Lizards’ strength is now 8/9/11/13/15 (up from 7/8/10/12/14).
 • Untamed Cultists’ strength is now 12/15/18/22/26 (up from 10/13/16/20/24).
NEW CARDS
Two new cards will be introduced in February: a new neutral Satyr and a new neutral Raven.
Vindictive Wretches
• Type: Unit, Raven
 • Kingdom: Neutral
 • Rarity: Common
 • Mana: 3
 • Strength: 1/2/3/4/5
 • Movement: 1
 • Ability: On death, destroy the weakest enemy unit
Trusty Shepherds
• Type: Unit, Satyr
 • Kingdom: Neutral
 • Rarity: Rare
 • Mana: 4
 • Strength: 1/2/2/3/4
 • Movement: 0
 • Ability: On play, gain 2/2/3/3/3 strength for up to 3 other friendly units on board

As usual, there will be $9.99 exclusive packs for every new card to get 10 copies as well as 750 coins and 5 fusion stones. It's now possible to buy more than one exclusive pack each.
NEW BRAWLS
Similar to what we did in the last months — we will introduce 2 new Brawl modifiers for the 2 new cards. We think it’s a good way for you to be able to try, play with and enjoy newly added cards before you start collecting them.

Like last time, a 0-mana level 1 (unless owned and leveled) copy of the new card will be added to everyone’s deck (thus causing all decks to have 13 cards).

 • The Warrior Brawl starting on February 9th will be for Trusty Shepherds.
 • The Warrior Brawl starting on February 23rd will be for Vindictive Wretches.
VALENTINE’S EVENT
With Valentine’s day approaching quickly, we thought we’d do a small event to mark the occasion. During the Valentine’s Event, there will be a coin bonus and ruby bonus, from February 9th till February 20th.

The Brawl starting on February 16th (and only that one) is going to be cheaper. All fights will be 50% off. Owners of the Premium Pass will also have their usual discount applied, leading to a 60% reduction.

Additionally, there will be some generous Valentine's offers, each with a different avatar.
Valentine’s Brawl
The special Valentine’s Brawl is a Brawl where players start a match with a friendly Temple of the Heart. It works exactly the same way as in the game, except it is INDESTRUCTIBLE. At the beginning of the battle, a Temple of the Heart gets randomly spawned on the first row for both players.

The Valentine’s Brawl will be rolled out once per difficulty level. Please refer to the timeline at the bottom of this page for the exact dates.
Special rewards
Players can get a special Valentine’s avatar in each Brawl level.

There are also 4 new avatars that can be bought with special offers:
NICKNAME CHANGE
Players can change their nickname for free once every 90 days. If they want to change their name more regularly, they may spend ticket cards (the ones used for Draft mode and the Brawl Lottery) to do so. It costs 3 ticket cards to reset the name change counter.

At the same time, the cost of the weekly ticket card is being raised to watching 3 advertisements (up from 1). It is caused by making tickets a more usable resource, while still keeping the weekly one “free”. Premium Pass owners will be able to redeem their ticket card as they used to before the update.
CARD USAGE DATA
In case you missed it, you may be pleased to learn that we have started releasing card usage data in the form of per-league tier lists. This should give you a good idea of how popular certain cards are in a given league, or what are the top-cards on a per-league basis.

Note that we are currently experimenting with ways to adjust neutral cards’ presence. Right now they are disproportionately represented since they are in all types of decks. We hope to make them less prominent in the dataset in the near future.

Mana: 3
Str: 1/2/3/4/5
Mov: 1/1/1/1/1

Clap of thunder (Spell)

 • The Warrior Brawl starting on January 12th will be for Strict Quartermasters.
 • The Warrior Brawl starting on January 26th will be for Clap of Thunder.

It has been a long time coming but we are excited to announce that the new login system is finally ready and will be released on all platforms on December 20th.

 2. Press “Log in with your Google/Apple account”.
 3. Finish the tutorial with that new account, it’s expected.

BRAWL LOTTERY

When down to a single heart left in Brawl, players may be offered to spend a ticket card (the ones used for Draft mode) to be granted a Brawl bonus choice, similar to the one they get after a victory.

Except in this case, there is a guaranteed Life Up or All Lives or Ice Armor bonus in order to extend the Brawl run. The other Brawl bonus can be anything.

TWEAKS

Demote
This update introduces improvements to the seasonal relegation system from the Heroes League.

There is now a bit of an in-between state between the two leagues called “Diamond+”. It’s a league above Diamond but below the top 500 from the Heroes League.

So if a player has reached the highest rank in Diamond, but there are already more than 500 players in Heroes league, they get promoted to Diamond+ and stay there until they reach the top 500 leaderboard. And people from the top 500 leaderboard who get pushed below 500th place also end up in Diamond+.

At the end of the season, people who reached the Heroes League at least once during this season (top 500) will be demoted to Diamond 5. People who got as high as Diamond+, and never got to Heroes League will be relegated to Platinum 5.

Daily Calendar
This update introduces a slight change to the Daily Calendar system: players can now unlock a reward every 23 hours instead of 24 hours.

Base Demolisher
After reviewing effects and data of recently added Base Demolisher Bonus and its impact on the game, we decided to make a few changes. From now on, rewards for certain goals will be:

 1. 5 rubies
 2. 75 coins
 3. 100 coins
 4. 5 fusion stones
 5. 150 coins
 6. 200 coins
 7. 250 coins
 8. 10 fusion stones
 9. 350 coins
 10. 450 coins
 11. 550 coins
 12. 25 fusion stones
 13. 700 coins
 14. 850 coins
 15. 1,000 coins
 16. 50 fusion stones
 17. 1,500 coins
 18. 2,000 coins
 19. 2,500 coins
 20. 75 fusion stones

Additionally, Base Demolisher Bonus points will be received only after games that lasted at least 5 turns.

FAQ

When is the update going to be released?
The season reset will happen as usual (January 1st), but the balance changes will be deployed on January 2nd due to the New Year. The 2 cards will be introduced on January 6th for Strict Quartermasters and January 20th for Clap of Thunder.

The new login and the Last Heart in Brawl feature will be available from December 20th. And the new background on December 24th.
Leagues tweak will happen with the season reset.

BALANCE CHANGES

This release, just like any other, will bring some balance changes. We planned on buffing all vanilla cards but decided to do that in several stages for safety reasons. In December, the first group gets the buff, and other cards will be buffed with future updates.

 1. Obelisk of Souls’ ability now drains 1/1/1-2/2/2 (down from 1/1/2/2/3).
 2. Eternal Ethereals’ strength is now 6/7/8/10/12 (up from 5/6/7/9/11).

 7. Warfront Runners’ strength is now 3/4/5/6/7 (up from 2/3/4/5/6).
NEW CARDS

Two new cards will be introduced in December: a new legendary pirate which brings a new mechanic, as well as another Shadowfen toad.

Acid Greenhorns (Toad)

On play, poison itself and X surrounding unit

Mana: 3
Str: 1/2/3/4/5
Mov: 0/0/0/0/0
Ability: 1/2/3/4/all

Malicious Finch (Pirate)

On play, create a random single‑use Malicious Card and put it in the enemy’s deck

Mana: 4
Str: 4/5/6/7/8
Mov: 1/1/1/1/1

As usual, there will be $9.99 exclusive packs for every new card to get 10 copies as well as 750 coins and 5 fusion stones.

About Malicious Finch
When played, one of the following 3 Malicious Cards gets picked at random and inserted into the opponent’s hand. These cards are single-use, so they disappear as soon as they are played. They can be cycled at will though.

There are 3 different Malicious Cards:

 • Deal 1/2/2/3/3 damage to your base (Mana 0)
 • Discard a random card from your hand (Mana 0)
 • Do nothing (Mana 1)

 • The Warrior Brawl starting on December 15th will be for Acid Greenhorns.
 • The Warrior Brawl starting on December 22th will be for Malicious Finch.

Moreover, as a part of the Christmas Event, we will introduce a special Brawl for this occasion: Snowball Battle Brawl.

At the beginning of the battle, a Snowman is randomly spawned on the second row for each player. Friendly and enemy Snowmen are placed in the same tile from the player’s perspective (so they’re never face to face). For instance on the 3rd tile from the left for each player. The structure has 10/15/20 strength depending on the Brawl difficulty, does not come back once destroyed and does not impact the frontline.

The following Brawls will be festive:
 • The Casual Brawl starts on December 22nd.
 • The Warrior Brawl starts on December 29th.
 • The Ultimate Brawl starts on January 5th.

Players can get special a Christmas avatar (in the 6th milestone) in each Brawl difficulty.

Finally, the Brawl starting on December 22nd (and only that one) is going to be cheaper. All fights will be 50% off. Owners of the Premium Pass will also have their usual discount applied, leading to a 60% reduction.

CHRISTMAS EVENT

Similar to last year, we’ll have a Christmas event in the game. It will take place between December 22nd (8AM CET) and January 1st (8AM CET).

Like most holiday events, there will be some one-time-only special offers for people willing to put some money into the game. The Christmas exclusive packs will be available from December 22nd. Each of them will include one Christmas avatar.

On top of that, all books (including Noble, but not the Humble book) will yield an extra card until the end of the Christmas event. Similarly, the paid bundles yielding coins and rubies will grant +30% more resources for the duration of the Christmas event. Additionally, everyone who will log into the game during the Christmas Event, will receive 40 rubies and 400 coins.

Last but not least, matches will yield twice as many coins, and the coin cap will be raised to 800 coins (1,400 coins for Premium Pass holders) for the duration of the event.

BASE DEMOLISHER

We are introducing a new permanent feature: Base Demolisher.

Players will gather points by dealing damage to the enemy base in any competitive game (ranked, draft or brawl): 1 damage equals 1 point. The amount of points scored is determined by the difference between the opponent's starting base health and the opponent's base health at the end of the match. Forfeiting counts as full damage to the base.

As players collect points, they can reach milestones that grant resources. The higher the milestones, the more points needed but also the bigger the reward. When a milestone is reached, the reward can be collected and the points to the next milestone are reset to 0.

FAQ

When is the update going to be released?

The balance changes will be deployed with the season reset as usual. The Christmas event itself (on which all the exclusive offers and bonuses are bound) will start on December 22nd.

The 2 cards will be introduced on December 9th for Acid Greenhorns and December 16th for Malicious Finch. Base Demolisher will start gathering points on December 8th.

Additionally, with the new update, players will be able to purchase packs with newly released cards more than once.

BALANCE CHANGES

Recently, we have changed CPU levels in Ranked Mode to be higher based on players’ league.

 • Level 2 for Silver League
 • Level 3 for Gold League
 • Level 4 for Platinum League
 • Level 5 for Diamond League

We believe this change will give players a better experience from playing Ranked matches, even though it’s now a bit tougher. This release will also fix the bug with CPU having 1 level cards in friendly matches in Heroes League.

Furthermore, this release, just like any other, will bring some balance changes.

 • Chaotic Pupil now deals 4/5/6/7/8 damage (up from 3/4/5/6/7) and which is spread randomly among bordering units (changed from a single target).
 • Fortification Tonic now grants 3/4/5/6/7 strength (up from 2/3/4/5/6).
 • Aged Duskbringers’ strength is now 6/7/8/9/11 (up from 5/6/7/8/10).
 • Trekking Aldermen’s ability now deals as much as damage as received (changed from 3/3/4/4/5).
 • Va’vel the Looper’s strength is now 1/2/3/3/4 (down from 2/3/4/4/5).
 • Prime Oracle Bragda’s ability now targets up to 2/3/3/4/4 units (changed from all).

Two new cards will be introduced in November: a new Swarm structure, and another Ironclad construct.

Cursed Cemetery (Structure)

At the start of your turn, spawn X strength Undead on both sides

Ability: 1/2/2/3/3

Frontline Engineers (Construct)

On play, gain X strength for each surrounding friendly structure

Mana: 4
Str: 2/3/4/4/5
Mov: 1/1/1/1/1
Ability: 2/2/3/4/4

As usual, there will be $9.99 exclusive packs for every new card to get 10 copies as well as 750 coins and 5 fusion stones.

NEW BRAWLS

Like last time, a 0-mana level 1 (unless owned and leveled) copy of the new card will be added to everyone’s deck (thus causing all decks to have 13 cards).

 • The Warrior Brawl starting on November 10th will be for Cursed Cemetery.
 • The Warrior Brawl starting on November 17th will be for Frontline Engineers.

Moreover, as a part of the Halloween Event, we will introduce a special Brawl for this occasion: Spooky Pumpkin.

During this brawl, every dead enemy will spawn a Spooky Pumpkin structure that explodes under special conditions. The structure has 3/5/7 strength, depending on the Brawl difficulty.

The following Brawls will be spooky:
 • The Casual Brawl starting on October 27th.
 • The Warrior Brawl starting on November 3rd.
 • The Ultimate Brawl starting on November 10th.

Players can get special a Halloween avatar (in the 6th milestone) in each Brawl difficulty, from silly to terrifying.

NEW LOGIN BETA
The new login system is nearly ready for release on both Android and iOS. All we need are some additional tests to ensure that everything works as expected. This gives you the opportunity to sign up and be one of the first players to try the new system and earn 50 rubies!

If you are interested in participating, here is what you need to do. Send an email to [email protected] with the following information:
 • Your Stormbound player ID (e.g. 102390249)
 • Your Discord  name + tag (e.g. Kitty#1909)
 • Your country of residency (e.g. United States of America)
 • The platform you play on (i.e. iOS or Android)
 • The email you will be using to sign in with Google or Apple

It is important the subject of the email you send matches this very format: login. For instance, Kitty#1909 1002216742 Android login.

From there, a handful of players will be chosen and invited to a private Discord channel mid-July to participate in the beta. All instructions will be given in due time.

DRAWING MECHANICS
Players have frequently reported that there might be a problem with the drawing mechanics, that makes getting back cards that were just played too often. After thorough testing, we’ve found out that this mechanic is working as expected.

For clarity: a card can be played more than once within the same turn, albeit rather rare. When a card is played, it goes back into the deck with a “weight” of 1. Another draw will cause a reweighing of the deck, which makes the card’s weight non null. From there, a subsequent draw (through card ability or cycling) can cause the card to be drawn (and played) again, even though the odds are not in favor.

Playing a few cards (and additionally cycling a card) in a turn causes a few draws at the end of the turn, therefore, with every draw, all cards in a deck are shuffled with new weights. Collector Mirz for example, creates a card with a weight of 1.

Note that cards generated by Guardi the Lightbringer used their own custom weighted draw algorithm. It will now be tuned down with the Balance Changes update on 2nd of November.

The logic of drawing mechanics goes more or less like this:

 1. The deck is initially shuffled. This is to make sure the weights do not match the card order (lowest weight on cheaper cards, and higher weights on more expensive ones).
 2. The first card of the shuffled deck is assigned a weight of 1.
 3. Every card is then assigned a weight based on the weight of the previous card following the formula: weight × 1.6 + 100. As a result, the second card has a weight of 101.6 (1 × 1.6 + 100) and the third card of 262.56 (101.6 × 1.6 + 100) and so on and so forth.
 4. From there, 4 cards are drawn with the weighted random to compose the initial hand. That means the cards with the highest weights are most likely to be drawn, but that’s not a guarantee.

FAQ When is the update going to be released?

The balance changes will be released with the season reset as usual, although on November 2nd due to the holiday. The 2 cards will be introduced on November 4th for Cursed Cemetery and November 11th for Frontline Engineers.

The Halloween event will extend from October 27th to November 6th (8AM CET) and the Black Friday event will extend from November 24th to November 28th (8AM CET).

How does the Spooky Pumpkin ability work?

In that Brawl-only, friendly Spooky Pumpkin spawn as enemy units die.

At the start of a turn, the first friendly Spooky Pumpkin on the board checks if there are at least 3 of them, and if there are, trigger its explosive ability.

Because all friendly Spooky Pumpkins end up being destroyed to deal damage to the enemy base, only the first one can use its ability. When it activates, all the others are destroyed.

What’s worth pointing out is that it possible to deal more than 3 damage to the base. Killing many units in one turn, and therefore spawning as many pumpkins, may result in explosive damage!

COMPENSATION

As some of you may know, there was an issue with the Anniversary Event ending a day too early. It was supposed to last until end of day September 25th, and ended early in that day instead.

This is unfortunate and something that should not have happened. We would like to extend our apologies to everyone impacted and intend to make up for this inconvenience with some compensation.

We have already returned the difference in coins you would have saved on Sunday’s Brawls. Additionally, everyone who bought books on Sunday received the missing free cards. Furthermore, this Sunday only (October 2nd), books containing more cards will be available in the shop, and all coins gained will be doubled throughout the day.

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience. We’ll do everything to prevent situations like this to ever happen again.

BALANCE CHANGES

We are back with our monthly balance changes:

 • Wolfcloaks now cost 7 mana (up from 6).
 • Draconic Roamers now spawn dragons with 2/2/3/3/4 strength (up from 1/1/2/2/3).
 • Aged Duskbringers’ ability now grants 5/6/7/8/10 strength (up from 4/5/6/7/9).
 • Temple Guardians’ ability now triggers when playing bordering any Temple Structure or base (instead of in front or sides of a friendly Temple Structure or base).

NEW CARDS

Two new cards will be introduced in October: a new Shadowfen structure, and another Ironclad rodent.

CHEESY LURERS (RODENT)

On play, pull the first enemy in front and deal X damage to it

Mana: 3
Str: 1/2/3/4/5
Mov: 1/1/1/1/1
Ability: 2/3/4/5/6

OBELISK OF SOULS (Structure)

At the start of your turn, drain strength from the strongest enemy unit

Mana: 3
Str: 2/3/4/5/6
Ability: 1/1/2/2/3

As usual, there will be $9.99 exclusive packs for every new card to get 10 copies as well as coin 750 coins and fusion stone 5 fusion stones.

 • The Warrior Brawl starting on October 6th will be for Cheesy Lurers.
 • The Warrior Brawl starting on October 13th will be for Obelisk of Souls.
HEROES LEAGUE

Top 500

The Heroes League is now limited to 500 players at any given time. To get into that league, players need to reach a higher peak score than the other players, or be one of the first 500 persons to reach the league.

If a player reaches all ranks and stars in the Diamond League, there are two scenarios that can happen:

 1. If there are less 500 players in the Heroes League, the player automatically gets in.
 2. Otherwise, the player stays in the Diamond League. From that point onward, they will see information about their current and peak scores and how high they need to reach to get in the Heroes League.

Rewards in Heroes League

The Heroes League rewards (seasonal chest and special rewards based on the Hero score) are given differently than rewards in other leagues.

 • Avatar: The top player in the Heroes League gets a unique avatar (just as before).
 • Heroes Chest: The Heroes chest is given to all 500 members of the league, no matter which position they end the season at. However, players who were kicked out of the Heroes League cannot claim the Heroes chest; they get the Diamond chest.
 • Books & Fusion Stones: The rewards in each Top List are given to all Heroes League members who end the season in this top list or higher. For instance, a player ending the season #96 collects additional rewards from the Top 100 and also from the Top 250.

The top 250 players at the end of the season will receive additional fusion stones (remember these are cumulative):

 • Top 1: 100 Fusion Stones
 • Top 10: 50 Fusion Stones
 • Top 100: 30 Fusion Stones
 • Top 250: 20 Fusion Stones

The top 250 players at the end of the season will also receive additional books, just like it happens right now. What changes is that the type of book will be randomized. For instance, the top player will get either a Mythic Tome, a Book of Archdragons or a Book of Legends, at random. Then in the next season, it will be one of the other 3, and so on and so forth. For the other Top 250 players, all specialized books are available (similarly random and rotating).

DAILY CALENDAR

The daily calendar which has been around for well over a year now will be revamped to add new mechanics.

Instead of one reward per day, the new calendar will have 15 gifts in total (regardless of which month).
Collecting a reward unlocks the next one, but there is a 24-hour cooldown period between collects. That means you don’t have to collect a certain reward on a specific day per se — you will be able to collect it whenever, provided you are not within your 24 hours cooldown period.

Premium Pass holders will still get an additional reward with every gift (collected at once like before). Buying a Premium Pass throughout the month will automatically grant the additional reward for all previously collected gifts, so nothing is lost.

Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, the Premium Pass is now a 30-days buy that’s not tied to the current calendar month. This means if one buys the Premium Pass on the 12th at 1pm, they will be a holder for exactly 30 days (ending at 1pm).
