Happy Independence Day

Hello everyone , sorry for the long delay on the update. The game is coming along great, I know that I am behind on getting the update out, but sometime family has to come first, Me and the family are in the middle of moving to another state, so I have had to focus on my family and there needs. As far as the game I am still working on it and hoping that once I get moved I can go back to full time work on the game. So far I am very pleased with how the game is turning out, this week I have been working on the integration of the new characters and also integrating the new building system. All seems to be working ok, but there are still some bugs that need to be worked out. The new update is playable but I am still not ready for the public to play it yet, As soon as the bugs for the building system are worked out I will feel better about showing it off and letting some players try it out. Character clothing has also been a big issue, it takes several hours to do one article of clothing, so this has been put on the back burner until I can get the other integrations working as intended.

I would also like to take this time to apologize for the delays, and the lack of communication, this is an area that I really need to work on. I will do my best to communicate much more and let you guys know where I am and what I am doing. Once I get the update out , I hope that everyone can see all the hard work and really enjoy what Bugout is supposed to be. Thanks to all of those that are still supporting me, it means a lot to me. Me and the family should be moved into our new home by the end of next week, and I should be able to focus full time on the game again.

The Road to 1.0 Almost there

I just wanted to post a quick update to keep everyone informed about whats going on at A2G studios.

As most people know I released BugOut as a Very Early Access Game, the main idea of what I wanted was there , but what I really needed was community input. Now that the game has been on the market for 6 months we have received some very good feedback and community suggestions,so I have been taking the suggestions and bug reports and improving the game. here are a few things i have been working on, and this is just a few. I will post a full report closer to release..

A much smaller starting map, with more people to talk to and more learning and gameplay. It is a foothills map, and all the trails and roads that lead away from it will take you to much larger maps of Mountain areas. Using lots of smaller maps allows me to make a much better quality game,( you will see the difference ), It also allows for a much better navmesh and more details.

Second I have completely reworked the UI, Now when you open your inventory you get the inventory, crafting, character and all in one window. And all the other interactable items will show up on the right side of the screen.

All new AI Scripts to control the animals, they will be have much better . The AI Scripting has been completely reworked and is now ready for all future development of the game.

Lots of new plants and forest details. I have added new trees, bushes and grasses to the map, including more than a dozen new interactive plants to harvest and use. Also upgraded the plants to a higher quality.

Added a new weather control system, allows it to snow and cover the ground, and rain and working with the seasons. Now when it rains or snows , water or snow will slowly cover the ground to give a much better effect.

Also upgraded to the Unity HD graphics and pipeline, add CTS PBR Shader system to bring it all to life, Everything looks much more realistic, much better blending, leaves and stuff lay on rocks .

More crafting stations, decided to bring on ores, so now we have smithy, and blacksmithing station, small and large.
Added new starting area, Foothills Campground, this is where trader Rons is too. This is the area that everyone will start their adventure. This is an old campground that trader Ron used to run back in the day. Now since the fall of the government, it is used for family's that need a place to survive but cant handle the deep mountains. It is a small but useful community, you can trade with many of the NPC's and learn some valuable survival skills.

I have been going through the suggestions and I have added quiet a few of the community suggestions. Cant wait to get this update out, but I still need to do a few more things..
I know the update is taking a little longer than I expected, and as far as the EXP version, yes there are 2 new EXP versions out, but they have been limited to who has been on them.
I learned from the past few months that This game is going to go a long way, but in order to do that I was going to need to rework some of the main gameplay code and other areas , so that everything I want to do can be done
and that has taking a while
but I am almost there

A Quick Dev Update

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am working on a very large update, and it is taking a little longer than I thought. I expect the new update to be out by the end of February and will have lots of improvements to the game play. You can plan to see a new and improved UI system and graphics, along with a much better and larger crafting system. The AI has also been reworked and the animals now have a much better behavior, you will also be able to obtain fur, bone, fat, meat, and leather from animals. A new particle effect has been added to the harvest able plants so they will be easier to see, and some task and missions have been added to the game too. With the new task comes a new trader that you will find back in the woods at a camp that some survivors have put together, they will offer some different items than trader Ron.
I have also been working on the building , I may have to remove the log by log building for the time and add prefab wall and floor pieces but there will be many more building items in the next update too. This was just a quick update to keep you informed, thanks for all the support.

Update 0.3.10 Guns and Hunting

Hello everyone , here we are with another update. this update will bring in some more features for the game, including hunting with a pistol or rifle, new animals, improved UI and inventory, and lots more fixes. -Removed black shaded box from right side, moved info to center screen
-Added 9mm pistol
-Added Hunting Rifle with scope
-Added 9mm Ammo
-Added Hunting Rifle Ammo
-Added 9mm Pistol, Hunting Rifle , and ammo to the Trader inventory
-Fixed Trader Ron, Buying and Selling will work now, but the + and - keys do not work, you just have to manually add the amount you want to buy or sell.
-Expanded Skill bar to 9 slots
-Removed Tool Belt from Character Panel
-You can now place weapons and tools in the skill bar and use ( 1,2,3,4, etc) to access them and change them out.
-Ammo must be in the skill bar to reload weapon ( atm the weapons auto reload this will change in the future)
-Reworked Character and Inventory Window
-Fixed the walking on water issue
-Removed the hands ( active weapons slot from character, just add the tool or weapon to the skill bar to use. )
-Improved character movement on hills and slopes
-You can no longer build with in 100 meters of the Trader or Traders house
-New map implemented ( still needs lots of work )
-Compass removed from top left corner of map, it now opens with the map
-Changed camera movement with player, ( S ) will no longer spin the camera around , but it will make you walk backwards.
-New spawn system for dropping loot after killing animals
-Wood crafting station is now fixed and shows the right recipes
-Time for crafting many items has been greatly reduced
-Removed health bars from animals
-Improved animal behavior
-Wolves will stop chasing you now after you get away from them a certain distance
-Added blood splatter when hitting animals
-Rabbits now flee
Start over is now fixed, and no longer spawns you in death mode
