After Dr Black invited him on his private yacht, he discovered that Black wanted to use his company's technology to map the ocean floor before the drill. Working with Black and destroying the environment would severely destroy the young tech CEO’s reputation. Perhaps Plum did not want his image tarnished by Dr Black's greed and cut his life short?

Peacock is the best in her field of research: rare tropical anemones. These anemones are indigenous to the chain of islands where Dr Black intends to set up his oil rig. In the past, the billionaire funded Peacock's research on the island, most likely to scout out the viability of his oil rig.

Peacock was brought onto Dr Black's yacht to lead a scuba diving excursion with the other guests and to relieve their concerns over the environmental impact of the rig. Despite being funded by Black, she could not bear the impending destruction of her beloved anemones. Perhaps it was her love for nature that made her cut Dr Black's life short?
