NEW eSail BETA for Windows and Mac

You can now try out and contribute to the latest update of eSail with this new Beta (1.2.2031)!

This version has new trim controls - travellers, outhaul and backstay as well as many other enhancements and bug fixes. There are also 2 new tutorials on Sail Depth and Sail Twist.

The boat handling has also changed a little - for instance we now factor in hull displacement better, so as your speed increases drag increases exponentially. This gives top speeds of around 8 knots which is realistic for this type of boat. For that reason new (sailing) challenge results will go into new leaderboards. Don't worry - your old results will still be available to view! NOTE: The new leaderboards may be cleared when the update goes on general release.

Now you can run eSail on Mac too. As with Windows, controller support is limited (although is being developed rapidly right now for the following update).

You feedback will be really important - especially on the sailing races - making sure we have the boat at the right level against the competition. Please put any comments (positive and negative!) into the new BETA discussion forum.

NOTE 1: splash screen resolution dialog is for testing only - please ignore.
NOTE 2: voice over will be added to new tutorials before full release.
NOTE 3: you can easily change back to the current version if you want to (until full release).

To install the BETA:

1) In your Steam client, right click on eSail Sailing Simulator (in the list on the left). On Mac CTRL click.

2) Click on 'Properties'.

3) Click on the 'BETAS' tab and select 'beta -' from the dropdown list.

4) If you don't see the beta in the list, log out of Steam then back in - this should refresh the list.

eSail Sailing Simulator Version 1.2.1 Released

This new version includes over 30 enhancements and bug fixes including:

* Feedback now links straight to Steam forums.

* IMPORTANT: We have changed how Settings/Day length works. Now the user’s day length is only used in Live Sailing and Locations. This to avoid time being manipulated in to get better scores in challenges.

* Added coordinate display to pencil in Chart. (Switched on bottom right). This is because it can be difficult to read the scale even for the experienced navigator.

* Settings screen now accessible from first page.

* Improved quality (less flickering) as you move away from centre of the world.

* Now the Autosail panel rolls up with tablet.

* Stopped camera knock back after menu screens.

* Fixed fender problem when fenders stack up in middle of boat.

* Change Sailing character behaviour so both can work at once.

Update 1.2.08

A minor update has been released today:

1) Minor bug fixes relating to controller input.

2) Adds keyboard support for Undo and Cross Crew.

3) You can now turn off controller input so that you can map your controller to keys using your own software.

Next release:

A more comprehensive update is now in testing. This will help with the flicker problem you may get when you move to outlying islands. Also, hopefully it will finally solve the fenders getting stuck issue. We are just getting to grips with jib farleads too, so I expect these will included (TBC).
