Railroad Corporation: Civil War coming June 4th

Hello everyone!

We announced the upcoming Civil War DLC only a few days ago, citing 'june' as the release date. Well, we can now tell you that the wait is a short one indeed, with Civil War releasing on June 4th, around 17:00 CEST.

Announcing the upcoming Civil War DLC!

This telegraph goes out to all railroad experts and other train enthusiasts.

Today's update brings a bunch of improvements and fixes to the game, as well as a new multiplayer map! Oh, and before we forget, there's also the ALL NEW DLC!

Soon, you will be able to determine the outcome of one of history's most famous battles in Railroad Corporation: Civil War.

Civil War DLC: Coming Soon

Trains and railroads played a pivotal role in the civil war, as troops and supplies could be transported to army camps faster and easier than ever before. Understanding the railroad network became key to managing operations and informing tactical decisions

Railroad Corporation: Civil War contains a brand new campaign of five missions that take place during the American Civil War. Grow your corporation during the tumultuous 1860s, make close friends and bitter enemies. Neutrality is not an option.

  • A brand new campaign that includes five new missions
  • Capture cities by transporting troops to them
  • Build recruitment offices to enlist new soldiers
  • Run geo-research and find natural resources
  • Produce special mortar carriages and deliver them to the front line

[h2]New multiplayer map: The Battle of Fredricksburg[/h2]
Some of the new DLC mechanics can be played in the new Battle of Fredricksburg multiplayer map! Take part in a historical battle, pick a side, and develop your economy during wartime by transporting all kinds of goods and forces.

To go along with the new map are two multiplayer portraits! You can probably guess who they are.

  • Locomotive pathfinding algorithm improved
  • Current locomotive’s path is highlighted now
  • Unreachable city titles are now marked with grey in route setup mode
  • Railroad joints are now highlighted when in route setup mode
  • Overall map view performance optimization
  • Warehouse trading exchange pricing balance is improved
  • Town map names added for long distance look
  • Autosave is switched to 5 days before month ends to avoid saving overdraft limit state
  • 20 new game achievements

[h2]Fixes[/h2]
  • Mission might not restart or load properly from time to time
  • When in route setup mode building might be selected instead of modifying the route
  • Active research order could shuffle from time to time
  • AI might not repair its own locomotives from time to time
  • The Skip station button did not switch off the Idle status in route editor mode
  • Other minor fixes

Signals & Workshop Update Out Now!

We're very excited to share the Signals & Workshop update with you today! In short, signalling directions for track segments and Steam Workshop integration have been added to the game. So, here's what's what, including a big ol' changelog like you're used to from us.

[h2]Signal track directions![/h2]
In every mode and mission, it is now possible to change the directions trains can go in, per segment of track. Just click the track icon with the traffic lights in the top right of the screen when playing any mission, map or scenario. Then, click on any segment of the track to change the allowed direction of trains on that section. Single, green arrows signal a one-way track, and blue double arrows signal a two-way track.



[h2]Create and share via the Editor and Steam Workshop integration[/h2]
Railroad Corporation now has Steam Workshop integration! You can create and share new maps, scenarios and missions for both singleplayer and multiplayer from the editor in the main menu, and you can play community maps, scenarios and missions by subscribing to them from the Steam Workshop hub! Note that the editor has a 'beta' tag on it. That's because the editor might still contain some bugs. If you find any, please let us know in the bug reports section of the Steam forum.

[h3]New features[/h3]
Railroad directions and signals
To optimize traffic, players are now able to set railroad directions for each segment. Railroad signal poles now reflect the railroad direction setting and prohibit or allow locomotive’s movement. Hold Alt-key to quickly edit directions.

Editor, beta release
Use Steam Workshop functionality to create, share and play singleplayer and multiplayer maps, missions and scenarios made by the community and yourself.

Train locomotive replacement
Now a locomotive replacement into a new one can be scheduled in the next train’s waypoint.

Different resource consumption rates for each city
Cities can now have different consumption speed, so players may plan which commodity is in higher or lower demand in a certain city.

City population growth rate
Population growth is affected by fulfilling resource demands in the city hall or local industries. The amount of population growth may differ for individual resources.

UI Top Panel notifications
Quantity of completed research items is now highlighted with a notification mark in the top panel. A similar notification is shown for new contracts, new staffing availability and new laws.

Commodity selling to a city from your own factories
It's now possible to prohibit your own production facilities from selling commodities to City Halls.

Using opponents' railroads for pathfinding
It's now possible to prohibit your locomotives from using the opponent’s railroad while pathfinding.

[h3]Improvements[/h3]
  • Per locomotive lifetime accounting has been added to the train list.
  • Road length is limited to avoid ineffective cross-map one-click railroad construction.
  • Couple autosave files have been added to avoid saving right before overdraft or other lose conditions.
  • Locomotive price of unresearched locomotives is now visible in the characteristics tooltip of the research.
  • Pathfinding algorithm for locomotives has been optimized.
  • Overall performance optimization.

[h3]Fixes[/h3]
  • Newly applied routes now stays visible while repairing and refuelling at the station.
  • Auction panel may duplicate player portraits in some cases.
  • Repair action does not reset load/unload actions for the locomotive now.
  • Technologies production launch could be delayed for in some cases.

January 13 Update: Locomotive accounting feature added & more improvements

In honor of Railroad Corporation being 25% off for the coming week, here's a small update mostly focusing on accounting. Like getting into the nitty gritty of your locomotive's individual performances? This update is for you!

    Improvements:
  • Per locomotive accounting has been added. Now it is possible to review lifetime or per quarter locomotive accounting reports.
  • Current accounting period opens once Accounting reports are selected in Top Panel
  • Locomotive price are added in new locomotive research description
  • Pending city law icon edited
  • When laying rails a too big slope icon is highlighted

    Fixes:
  • Fix: Skip button occasionally not affected locomotives in a station
  • Fix: In some cases warehouses could not be loaded with new goods when locked by train
  • Fix: Commodities title may overlap in Warehouse and Production building goods trading layout
  • Fix: Warehouse commodity tooltip could be not localized.
  • Fix: Trains loading/unloading could stuck in warehouse if target buffer is full

The new 'Christmas Rush' scenario is here!

The year 2019 has been very busy and exciting for our team. We're still working on improving the game and releasing workshop integration. These changes are not ready yet, so we wanted to give you something to enjoy during the holidays, for free.

We present to you: Christmas Rush! 🎅🏻



Christmas Rush is a (you guessed it) Christmas-themed scenario for those wishing to put their skills to the test. In this challenge, it is your job to bring presents to boys and girls across the map. You will be able to play as a snowman, an elf, or as Santa Claus himself, and start off with a number of American locomotives, depending on who you choose to play as. You can find the challenge in the "Free Game" mode, under the "Challenges" tab.

Owners of the Railroad Corporation Deluxe Edition also receive a third 4K wallpaper! We're not spoiling what that is though. 🎁
