The Artifact Update

Our first major update after releasing on App Lab is here! This update includes some major changes in preparation for our first competitive season in partnership with the VRML with a prize pool of $10,000. The tournament starts in January, so get your teams together and sign up now!
SCOUTZKNIVEZ MAAR
ScoutzKnivez has been super popular! So we are making an effort to create ScoutzKnivez variants of more maps, starting with Maar.
ARTIFACT
Artifact matches are now first to 7 points to win. We lowered it from 11 points to ensure that all Quest players can participate in the tournament and complete 3 full Artifact matches before their battery dies.

Additionally, we added objective markers for Artifact that now scale up and down depending on how far you are, and they will become semi-transparent when you aim at them.
KNIFE THROWING
With this update, we've added our first pass on knife throwing. Please, let us know how this feels so that can continue to make it better!

The App Lab Update

VAIL is officially available on Quest. Starting today, you can now get VAIL on App Lab.

VAIL supports cross-play between both platforms and you can even connect your accounts to share cosmetics, progress (coming soon), friends (coming soon), and stats (coming soon) between Quest and Steam. If you want to get a head start connecting your accounts, just go to login.vailvr.com and login with Steam and Oculus to connect your accounts.
KNIFE
With this update, we are FINALLY [re]launching a knife! Like all of our weapons, the knife has physics; you can't just slice through enemies like they're made of air. It collides with enemies, and it requires a certain velocity for it to start cutting, so no wiggle knife killing either.

Right now the knife supports stabbing and slashing, and in future updates, we will improve the throwing to make that a viable option. It's a 1-hit kill to the back and head, and 2-hits to the chest. Also, simply holding the knife gives you a small speed boost.

With the way it's designed, you can stab someone and it will stay in place, then slash it out of their body in a way that feels like you're actually cutting them. We still have work to do on the haptics, SFX, and VFX; but for now, we feel like this is a huge improvement over previous iterations.
TABLET
We are also shipping a new main menu for the game. The version you'll see today is still very far from our final vision, but we feel like this tablet is already much easier to use in terms of choosing and modifying loadouts, settings, etc. In our next major update, we plan to include friends and parties so that it's easier to find and play with your friends.

If you have any feedback on the new tablet, make sure to share it with us. This is a work in progress that we plan to make much better over the next few updates! And if you're wondering why we decided to change the entire menu for this update; we had to create something new to support upcoming features such as progression, stats, and matchmaking.
SHUTTLE
We technically shipped the Shuttle in the last update, but this update includes some nice improvements to Shuttle visually.

The Shuttle is a new map voting level that players will visit at the end of every round. At least one player needs to ready up for the map voting to start after the first 30 seconds, and then you'll have 4 maps/game modes to choose from plus a refresh option. The first option will always be the same game mode as the last match, and you can only refresh once. Once a map is chosen, you'll automatically be transported to the next game.
GENERAL CHANGES
• The armory now has a weapon dispenser, allowing you a new way to access weapons and utilities.
 • We've improved game packaging and optimization for potentially smaller and faster downloads. This also reduces the overall game size.
 • Misc. bug fixes and improvements

See you all in-game!

Love you all, AEXLAB

Patch v0.9.15.2

We pushed an update yesterday, and a quick patch today to fix a few more things!
Why so big?
First off, you may be wondering why the download is so big. Well, simply put, this update requires you to reinstall the entire game! We had to rework the structure of the game to make downloading updates smoother (and make updates smaller), but for this to work you'll have to initially redownload everything as part of this update.
Shuttle V1
In this update we are shipping a TESTING version of Shuttle; a between match hub where you can vote for the next game mode and map. The map itself is not final and will be completely reworked in a future update, but we didn't want to wait for the new map before allowing you all to vote for the next match. Now, at the end of every single game (including custom games, but hosts can still change maps whenever they want) you'll automatically travel to the Shuttle. We look forward to hearing your feedback about this new feature!
Everything else
• Updated the icons for Hardpoint and reworked the spawns to change based on which objective is active. There are more things we plan to improve with Hardpoint, so stay tuned for more updates!
 • Added an improved AK12 model.
 • Fixed an issue where the player would have low-health audio stuck playing.
 • Fixed an issue where sounds would start playing in local space instead of world space.
 • Improved spawn logic.
 • Fixed Spawn Protection not working in some game modes. If you grip anything, spawn protection immediately ends.
 • Made ladders easier to grab.
 • Various map improvements and fixes.
 • More crash fixes.
Previous Patches
Since we haven't posted patch notes in a while, here are some notable changes since the last time we posted patch notes (we will get better at this, I promise).
 • Fixed premature idle kicks
 • New Respawn System
 • Players now show their profile avatar instead of their name when far away
 • Unique sounds added to the MR96 and G28Z
 • 1v1 Maar and 1v1 Suna map reworks
 • Improved throwing across all headsets/controllers
 • Fixed PTT performance stutters
 • Varjo users will need to update Varjo Base to fix any visual stuttering

Thank you all, see you in-game!
