Trails in the dark - Update


Hello Everybody,
Hope you are all well in these crazy times. We just released an update, your feedback is welcomed.

Content:
* Boss encounter with two parts: in the first you need to run away from a wall of flame, in the
second you fight your clone. It is loosely inspired from one of my favorite movies.
* Boss at the very center of the galaxy that will give you a Star Destroyer item, use it wisely.
* A drifter floating in space with a terrible secret.
* Generated missions from Starport.
* New weapons and crafting recipes.

Engine improvements:
* Greatly improved loading times
* Improved HUD
* Improved graphics - reworked lighting system.
* Improved performance
* Moved from XNA to Monogame!

Bug fixes:
* Fixed EMP recovery item
* Fixed bug when old saves cloud prevent starting new game

Order in a galaxy of chaos


It has been a while since the last development update, it is hard for me to write a development log when I feel like I am disappointing the few that did buy the game but I don’t want to keep you in the dark. I feel like the game has progressed and regressed instead of going forward but I will keep working on it until it matches my vision.

There are two things that I am currently working on, the first is the story which I am finding very difficult to finish… I got the outline and nice twist but the details are hard from me to write, writing was never my strong suit.

Basically it tells the story of humanity after years of constant struggle trying to find a solution to the constant wars and the human condition by sending von neumann probe to the center of the galaxy. The different factions of humanity believed that a solution that will unite humanity lies in the stars. With the Federation hoping to find intelligent life, the Empire believing it will find God and the Trading Guild hoping to find an endless source of energy. The probe was sent and forgotten and humanity reverted back to tribes and warring factions. Five hundred years had passed and our story begins…

The other major change I am working on is a leveling/experience system that I will expand on in a different post.

I don’t want to set dates and promise things but I am working on the game and investing all my free time in the game. I can promise to keep you updated and find the order in the chaos that is the development of this game and my life.

Version 0.125 is up!

Changes:
* Added filter crafting by categories .
* Ammo weapons and crafting.
* When hovering over an item in the shop the slots that can equip it will be highlighted.
* Materials stack limit changed from 999 to 9999.

Bugs:
* Fixed graphics settings (Now fullscreen and border mode are independent)
* Fixed bugs with advanced armory and armory enabling the same items

Version 0.123 is up!

Bugs:
* Fixed crash caused by paying some music tracks
* Minimal supported resolution is now 1280 X 1024

Changes
* Shields level 6 and up need a medium size ship to equip
* Sort will also sort mothership inventory if docked
* Reduced the number of enemy ships in higher level systems
* Increased construction time for enemy ships
* More music tracks added
