Version 1.1 Patch Notes - Undead Citadel



Welcome to Version 1.1 of Undead Citadel!
We are thrilled to present the latest improvements and features based on your invaluable feedback. Thank you for being a part of this community and helping us enhance the game!

Changes:

Checkpoints and difficulty

  • Continue from Last Checkpoint: You can now resume your game from the last saved checkpoint without the need to start the level in another session. Enjoy a smoother and more convenient gaming experience!
  • Additional Save Points: We have added numerous extra save points in the game to ensure you can progress more safely and without frustration.
  • Difficulty Adjustments: We have heard your feedback regarding challenging sections in the game and have fine-tuned the difficulty to provide a balanced and rewarding experience.
  • Health Restoration upon Continue: When continuing from a checkpoint, your health will be restored to the level it was at the time of saving, but with a minimum of 50%. Keep moving forward without losing too much progress!
  • More Potion Drops in Boss Combat: To make the final combat more fair and challenging, we have added more potion drops to aid you in battle.
  • Increased Undead Awareness: Undead creatures now make more noise when approaching from behind to avoid unfair situations. Listen closely to their footsteps and warning cries as they draw near!


Feedback

  • Friction Feedback: You will now feel feedback when touching different surfaces both with your hands and picked-up weapons. Vibration, sound, and particles will vary based on materials and contact speed.
  • Improved Combat Feedback: We have worked on enhancing sound effects, particles, and vibration to deliver an even more immersive and exciting combat experience.


More improvements

  • Enhanced Inventory Belt Positioning: We have adjusted the inventory belt position to provide a more comfortable and effortless experience when interacting with and picking up objects close to the player.
  • Climbing fixes: We have addressed an issue with climbing that caused hands to sometimes clip through walls. Enjoy a smoother and more realistic climbing experience now.
  • Improvements in Weapons and Hand Movement Algorithm: Hands are now more controllable even during fast movements and rotations, significantly enhancing gameplay.



Try our new Weapons Movement Algorithm

We are working on a new Weapons Movement Algorithm and would love for you to try it out. Access the special test scene with weapons using both the official algorithm and the new one (although it's not yet fully finished).

To access this option from the main menu, perform the following button combination: Right Trigger, Left Trigger, Right Trigger, Left Trigger, Right Trigger, Left Trigger (depending on your device it will be Grab buttons instead of Triggers)

1.0.2 - Climbing fixed

Patch Notes - Undead Citadel Version 1.0.2

Bug Fix:

Fixed an issue introduced in version 1.0.1 that affected climbing mechanics. Players can now traverse vertical environments seamlessly without getting stuck or experiencing sudden drops.

We are so glad to be getting so much feedback from you all. Your input has been invaluable in helping us identify areas for improvement in Undead Citadel. We truly appreciate your support and the time you have taken to share your thoughts and suggestions.
Rest assured, we are committed to making Undead Citadel the best combat experience possible. We have been diligently working on implementing the feedback we received, and the result is Undead Citadel v1.0.1. However, our work doesn't stop here.

Here are some of the notable changes you can expect in this version

Improved latency in hand movements and rotations

We have improved the algorithm for hand movement, making them move more realistically. Now, hands don’t go away when the player rotates fast smoothly. They are also less floaty.



This is one of a bunch of improvements we are preparing to improve the latency and improving the physics in the game so expect more improvements to come really soon. Contact us if you want to have anticipated access to our tests and help us to make it better.

Improved parry detection
Based on your suggestions we have made parry a little bit easier by increasing the parry angle and the timing window.

Added ambient sounds in previously quiet areas
We listened to your feedback about quiet areas, so we added more sounds and fixed some bugs about other audios.

Addressed impact feedback issues with certain attacks
In base of your comments we also managed some problems with the impact feedback, making them feel better.

Physics adjustments synchronized with the computer's framerate.
For some of you, one of the causes that added a floaty feeling to the game was a low framerate. Now we will adjust the physics framerate to your computer possibilities.
However you can still manually adjust other values such as shadows, terrain quality and render scale until you find a good balance between quality and performance.

Other changes
  • Optimized terrain for smoother gameplay.
  • Tweaked LOD (Level of Detail) objects for improved performance.
  • Modified hitboxes for unarmed and grounded enemies.
  • Fixed combat music that failed to start or remained active after battles.
  • Other minor fixes.


IMPORTANT
We have changed the Steam controller assignments. If you have overwritten them, please revert to the default values and then make your changes again. Otherwise, the hands may appear displaced.

We have more exciting improvements in the pipeline that are almost ready to be released. These upcoming updates will further enhance the combat mechanics and optimize performance. We can't wait to share them with you!
