Tales of the Neon Sea going to Gfusion 2019 Beijing China

Detectives, it’s been over a week since Tales of the Neon Sea released on Steam, and your comments and suggestions have been pouring in ever since. As mentioned in our previous update, we’ve been paying a lot of attention to your feedback and are actively using this to help shape and improve the current experience. Sections we are focusing on include the gang elevators and conveyors in the final chapter, as well as the sonar puzzle on the abandoned ship. These have caused problems and we intend to rectify those.

We’ve also been taking general feedback on board, regarding areas such as puzzles, level design, story pacing, and more. We don’t want to dramatically change the game that many of our players love, but we do want improve on these areas in order to provide a more well-rounded experience. Thanks again for all your support, and please keep the feedback coming!

We are going to attend Gfusion 2019 Beijing China, more detail please check the office page:

Update 5.03

1. Updated and optimised the gameplay of Chapter 2, removing some redundant elements. This update may cause data errors for players who were stuck on sections that have now been changed or removed.
If you are currently on Miracle Street, it is recommended to restart from “Brank! The Missing Person" using the "Chapter Selection” screen on the main menu. If you are at the old Hydroelectric Plant area, it is recommended to restart from “Mistake or Trap? Uncovered Tracks".

2. Updated Combination Benches to let players know which components can be combined to form new items.

3. Optimized the gear system to make it clearer which items can be collected;

4. Optimized several puzzles and removed some repetitive puzzles.

5. Unlocking puzzles have been streamlined.

6. The playing cards in the wine cellar have been replaced.

7. Fixed a number of bugs.

8. Removed German and Spanish from the store page. If you are playing with either of these two languages, please do not change language in the game as this will remove them. Feedback has confirmed that these two language packs are not in a good state. We will review these and update at a later point.

Developer Update: Acting on Your Valuable Feedback

Following the release of Tales of the Neon Sea, we’ve received lots of comments and feedback regarding the experience as it currently stands. While much of this has been positive, there’s also been some very useful criticism that has helped us view the game from a new perspective.

To be more specific, some players have reported that the experience suffers during the mid to late stages of the game. Here, the amount of puzzles ramps up and this can cause frustration and detract from the storyline.

Our intention was to keep players engaged with challenging puzzles, however it is clear that our execution was flawed in some cases. We apologise to any players who felt their experience of the game suffered as they passed the midway point and came closer to the end.

We’ve been collecting this feedback across all channels, and are already in the process of making adjustments to some of the more difficult sections, removing some redundant elements, and generally doing our best to make good on our original vision for a fun and engaging experience throughout. We want to thank everyone who has played our game, and all those who took time to leave valuable feedback. We’ll continue working hard, and we’re very grateful for all your support.
