R32 "Customizations" Update Release

First of all, we wish you a Happy New Year!

R32 "Customizations" Update is available now. This time we've introduced support for additional cosmetical customizations in the form of skins. When you craft almost any weapon or a piece of equipment you will be able to select one of several skins available for each. The skins don't affect anything except the appearance of the equipment.

This update offers both free skins obtained simply by playing the game, as well as some limited skins which you can unlock by participating in some events we might hold in the future or by playing the game during a particular period (we will announce when any such things will be happening), and obviously, there is a number of skins which can be purchased directly. Purchasing skins goes toward supporting the developers. Thank you!

Also, the good part is—to use skins you don't have to own them. You can exchange skinned items with other players or your friends freely. You can also loot them in PvP from defeated enemies. So, you can use all skins even if you haven't yet unlocked them or if you missed an event where a particular skin was made available.

Anyway, we are looking forward to seeing more visual variety in the game with this update! All without cluttering the tech tree with almost-identical items like was before this update. By the way, we have also updated visuals for practically all equipment and weapons to make them look even better.

Aside from the system explained above with this update we have also added a few pieces of content into the game as well as some new features. But the biggest change is our continued work on balance to make the game feel even more fun, be it solo or playing in multiplayer (you'll find a link to the detailed patch notes down below).
Savegames compatibility
The saved games are completely compatible with the previous (R31) version of the game. You can continue playing in your local worlds without worries.
Official servers wipe
All the official servers were wiped with this update according to their schedule: Official PvP servers are wiping every 3 weeks and official PvE servers are wiping every 6 weeks. Please read the previous announcement for more details.
We welcome you to join all the newly started servers with the fresh economy and all of the new stuff introduced by the update!
Legacy support
Even though the R32 update is 100% compatible with the previous R31 version, as usual, we're providing a legacy branch for the previous version client available if you intend to keep using it on a server that is not yet updated to R32. Just open game properties in the Steam Client, navigate to the BETAS tab, and select the "legacy-r31" branch.
New Year event
During the New Year event, you can craft a cloth hat with the free Santa hat skin! Just open the crafting menu on a workbench and select the cloth hat, you will find this skin available there. Hurry up as after a few days the skin will be gone until the holidays season next year!

Happy New Year!

R32 "Customizations" Update is launching this Friday

We are finally ready to announce the release date of the next major update to CryoFall—this Friday, 31st December!

This time we are introducing support for additional customizations in the form of skins. When you craft almost any weapon or a piece of equipment you will be able to select one of several skins available for each.
Savegames compatibility
First of all, we must highlight that the saved games are completely compatible with the previous (R31) version of the game. You can continue playing on your local worlds without worries.
As for the official PvP and PvE servers, they will have their scheduled wipe as usual.
Official servers wipe
We would like to remind you that the official PvP servers will have the next round of epic fights starting with the scheduled wipe this Friday, December 31st.

As you may know, all official PvP servers have regular wipes every 3 weeks to ensure a level playing field and offer a fresh economy with each new round. It's a major event that brings many players to compete with each other, starting from a common point.

Likewise, all official PvE servers will also have their regular wipe on the same day. Unlike the PvP servers, however, PvE servers have their regular scheduled wipes every 6 weeks instead. Feel free to join any of the official PvE servers for a fresh round of economic and technological competition and race to reach the highest faction score on any of the regional PvE servers.

Wipe time: 1 PM by GMT/UTC time (as usual).
For your convenience, here is the local time in the primary time zones we have:
• 7 AM by Central US (CST, GMT-6 winter time)
• 2 PM by Central EU (CET, GMT+1 winter time)
• 16:00 by Russia/Moscow (GMT+3)
• 21:00 by China/Beijing (GMT+8)
• 10 AM by Argentina/Brazil (GMT-3)
• 10 PM by Japan and South Korea (GMT+9)
CryoSmall
As an additional note, the featured PvP community server CryoSmall Europe is wiping this Saturday 1st January (12 PM GMT/UTC). With a strict limit of 2 players per team (no alliances permitted) and reputable administration enforcing this rule, you can have peace of mind that the server provides equal opportunities for everyone to compete. By the way, community server CryoSmall North America has been wiped recently (last Saturday) and it's not too late to join it.
Last round was a huge success!
We have received a lot of positive feedback about the last Global PvP round with incredible battles and the average online number frequently peaking over a hundred players! Just check this epic video shared by Yodes from [SNV] clan! But be sure to hold your monitor tightly—it may fall off the table with explosions shaking it when mechs are smashing each other with barrages of artillery shells!

NSFW: Warning, contains a lot of profanity in several languages :)

If you are going to try your luck playing on Global PvP you should absolutely join one of several large clans (they're actively hiring!) or create your own with your friends, otherwise, you are unlikely to have a chance there! ;)
CryoSmall
As an additional note, the featured PvP community server CryoSmall Europe is wiping this Saturday 11th December (12 PM GMT/UTC). R31 Patch #8

=== CryoFall v1.31.9.2 (R31 Patch #8) ===

Event changes:
- Boss event duration shortened to 30 minutes (plus 20 minutes preparation timer on multiplayer servers only).
- Improved boss minions placement. Their spawn is properly randomized now.

PvP changes:
- Reworked loot from space debris event. We've increased the amount of T3-T5 ammo, added laser rifle and a few other items, mech components, and even bombs (very rare!). But most importantly, now you will obtain items of the actual technology tier or close to it instead of some random rubbish. E.g. when Tier 5 timegate is unlocked on the server the weapons and armor that you will obtain from space debris will be T4+. If Tier 3 timegate is unlocked you find only T3 weapons/armor, in T4 you will find only T4 weapons/armor.
- The game will forbid disassembling items on the Tinker table during raidblock (same as using Trash can is not allowed).
- Newbie-protected players are no longer able to interact with anything inside other player's land claims (the problem was that when they were able to sneak inside the base they took stuff from crates, furnaces, etc and once killed they will just drop the loot on the ground and nobody can pick it up as it's protected by Newbie Protection system).
- The boss will not spawn immediately after the event is announced. 20 minutes timer will start giving you time to prepare for the event. This is an experimental change: Please try and let us know—we're awaiting players' feedback to consider whether this change will stay.

Misc changes:
- Sprinkler: Reduced water consumption 3 times (single sprinkler will last for 5+ real-time days when filled to its full capacity and watering plants around it every hour).
- When you have a retina implant, the night vision from Nemesis mech and Super Heavy Armor will not activate automatically. Also, Nemesis mech will not activate night vision when you're mounting it during the daytime.
- Weapons for Nemesis mech will use Vehicle skill instead of Exotic weapons skill (other mech weapons were already using Vehicle skill).
- Building skill: Reduced amount of experience gained by building and deconstructing wooden walls (it was too easy to raise the skill level this way).
- Tinker Table: The amount of Maintenance skill experience gained by disassembling an item will be proportional to the amount of disassembled item compared to the amount from this item's recipe. E.g. if you disassemble 1 ammo that is usually crafted as 20 pieces, you will gain only 1/20th of skill experience.

Technical changes:
- Optimized texture loading (less frame stuttering when walking in large bases on weaker GPUs).
- The game will no longer use LocalAppData for its data (such as savegames) when the primary data folder exists (the primary location is: Documents/AtomicTorchStudio/CryoFall). IMPORTANT: If you're suddenly missing your local server's savegames, perhaps you have both game folders on your PC—one in %LocalAppData%/AtomicTorchStudio/CryoFall and another in your Documents folder (this may happen if the game was denied access to Documents folder and used %LocalAppData% instead). If this is the case, please transfer the contents of %LocalAppData%/AtomicTorchStudio/CryoFall folder to Documents/AtomicTorchStudio/CryoFall folder. For further assistance please reach us in official Discord or over email [email protected]

Fixes:
- When another player character is launched on a rocket the body remained visible.
- When repairing a pragmium reactor part on Tinker table a broken part appeared in the place of the second input slot.
- Fixed formatting issues in Portuguese-Brazil translation.
- If the savegame is corrupted the savegames list was unable to load. The issue is fixed now. The game will also clearly designate corrupted savegame files in the saves list and explain how to recover to the latest backup version. Please note: we're certain that savegame corruption cannot happen under normal circumstances, if you experience such an issue please check your disk with ScanDisk and CrystalDiskInfo or any other HDD SMART tool.

If you're hosting a community server, you need to install this patch to allow the updated client to connect. Please follow this guide to update your server: https://wiki.atomictorch.com/CryoFall/Server/Setup#Server_update.2Fupgrade_to_new_version

If you cannot connect to a community server because it's not updated, you can switch to the previous client version in Steam Client. Click with the right mouse button on the game in your Steam library, open Properties, select the BETAS tab, and choose "legacy-r31-1.31.8.2" in the dropdown menu.
