It's time to cry to Christmas Pain In Christmas Town

Like many people, I've had a difficult year. My dad died, an uncle died soon after, and everything is a lot, you know? Even in the best of years, I find Christmas challenging. That's why I'm filling my ears with the maximalist sounds of a song which knows true suffering, a song from a fictional musician in a video game. Reader dear, it's that time of year: if you've not already started, pour a cocoa and join me for Christmas Pain In Christmas Town.

Update: The developers of PUBG Mobile reached out to Hypnospace Outlaw creator Jay Tholen to explain the situation via Twitter. Apparently the skin's original name in Mandarin translates to "Golden Diva" and was designed without Tholen's work in mind. However, "An individual on our localization team saw the visuals for the skin and was reminded of your game. Rather than adopt the literal translation, 'Golden Diva,' the team member decided to change the name to Hypnospace Diva, not considering the consequences or implications of doing so. Those responsible for approving the localization were not familiar with Hypnospace Outlaw, and so were unaware of the name's connection to your game."..

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time…

Ah, the internet. It might be a cesspool of fibre optic-fuelled hate and anxiety these days, but back in ye olde dial-up times of 1999 it felt like a new frontier of hot information. It was a place where people were just trying to share their art, thoughts, music and other assorted paraphernalia with like-minded folk half way across the globe, and where today’s trolls were but mere gnomes in a forest of cobbled together home pages and horrifically bad graphic design.

It’s this early version of the internet that Hypnospace Outlaw captures down to the pixel, only here you surf the web while you sleep via a special headband. Part museum piece, part detective thriller, it’s a wonderful reminder of happier times when all you had to worry about were turds called Zane and making sure your virtual hamster doesn’t die of loneliness while you solve online crimes.

HypnOS v2.34 and OST Vol. 3 are here!

Hey everyone!

We're so excited with how much you've all been loving Hypnospace Plus! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us on discord, twitter, in the forums and our emails. We've loved every minute of watching you rediscover Hypnospace! To celebrate, we're releasing our newest patch and Vol. 3 of the OST!

For the last little while the team have been hard at work clearing up pesky bugs and adding in EVEN MORE neat content for you to find!

Here's what's new in HypnOS v2.34:

- More than a dozen unheard music tracks (these are ALL amazing)
- Performance improvements
- A bunch of minor fixes on pages (thank you for all your reports on these!)
- Boot-up now shows "HypnOS+"
- Tunebox now uses case insensitive sorting
- Credits updated
- Game engine updated to NWJS 0.49.0

BUGS FIXED:

- Weird graphics bugs with videos (again, thank you so much for all your reports and help getting this one fixed up!)
- Long splash-screen loading times on low-spec machines no longer soft-lock the game
- Hammering content during a page transition no longer disables all user input
- No longer possible for your Hypnocoin wallet to go into the negative
- Pets can no longer poop offscreen (but they do still poop, sorry about that)
- Unintentional Axx. sequence break disabled
- Status bar/text above Hypnospace user pages no longer goes offscreen
- Soft lock in Outlaw when pausing at specific times fixed
- Issues with Tunebox music file importing fixed

The soundtrack also now includes Vol. 3 of the soundtrack! This means there are now 146 TRACKS in there, which is an INSANE amount!
