Grand strategy game Imperator: Rome gets large modpack that will keep the torch alive

Active development on grand strategy game Imperator: Rome may have been halted for the time being, but that doesn't mean the community itself has moved on. The Imperator: Rome mod scene is small, but today it's come through for the strategy game in a big way.

Imperator: Invictus is a sizable modpack that attempts to unify various mod projects that have tried to improve the game since its rocky launch in 2019. It's not aiming to be a full overhaul, rather this is a community-focused enhancement that seeks to improve the vanilla experience. Anyone who's spent time in the game as-is should understand and be able to use the changes that this mod brings to the table.

Some of those changes include reworked Iberia and Balkans map areas, six new mission trees, more historical events, fleshed-out religions, tribal buffs for the early game, optional game rules, and plenty more. This mod has only just been released so there are potentially issues and bugs still to iron out. It's also multiplayer compatible.

Paradox Development Studio has "split into three distinct studios", and none are working on Imperator: Rome

Paradox Development Studio, the internal developer at Paradox Interactive responsible for many of the company's grand strategy hits, has "split into three distinct studios." The change happened earlier this year and was announced yesterday in a post on the Paradox forum.

Each of the three studios is committed to a particular Paradox series, but notably Imperator: Rome isn't among them. Also notable: one of them is making a new game which will be announced next month.

No new content for Imperator: Rome in 2021 as Paradox reorganises

Paradox Development Studios has been going through some growing pains, and an internal reorganisation has left Imperator: Rome without many of its key team members. The developer has assigned its portfolio of grand strategy games across three internal teams, but Imperator has, for the time being, been left without a place to call home.

"Earlier this year, PDS has split into three distinct studios," writes Paradox segment and portfolio manager Bevan Davies in a post to the Paradox Forums. "Internally, we call them PDS Green, PDS Red, and PDS Gold. Each team is in charge of both maintaining existing game(s), and developing new games."

Green is handling Stellaris, and is supported by Paradox Arctic, based in Umeå, and is now led by Stellaris veteran Rikard Åslund. The Red team is heading up the development of Crusader Kings III, helmed by Johanna Uddståhl Friberg, formerly the studio manager of Paradox Arctic. Paradox Gold is handling Hearts of Iron IV under the leadership of Thomas Johansson, who has lately been working in upper management.

2.0.3 Patch Released

Hi everyone, today we're happy to release the small 2.0.3 patch. It contains the following changes:

###################
# Interface
###################
Detailed character health stat was still displayed in a few places: these now use the correct character tooltip obfuscation

###################
# Bugfixes
###################
Fixed being able to wrongly disband levies in wartime via right clicking on them in the outliner
Fixed wrongly calculated legion modifiers leading to compounding martial ability
Fixed state capitals being relocated when new territories were added to a province
Fixed an OOS when changing effects on a Great Wonder
Fixed a rare infinite loop that could cause the game to freeze
Fixed river crossings giving a bonus to the attacker instead of the defender
Fixed a crash that resulted from destroying a port under blockade

2.0.3 should be compatible with prior version 2.0.x saves, but in case you have any problems, you can always roll back your version via right click on Imperator in library -> properties -> betas -> choose the desired version.

We hope you enjoy this latest improved version, and want to thank you for all your support and feedback. Have fun everyone.
