Multiplayer Server Restart - 9 October - 09:00AM CEST

Salvete, omnes!

Tomorrow (Oct 9) we will be working through a Server Restart for the Multiplayer Servers at 09:00AM CEST for routine Server Maintenance.

This update will take less than a half hour, but we advise all players to make sure you have a save point for all Multiplayer games in advance of this restart and that you are not playing while the restart occurs or it may cause issues with your ongoing games. While this should not impact any ongoing solo Campaigns, we also advise caution.

Please plan accordingly and we will see you on the other side!

The best Imperator: Rome mods

Time (and tons of DLCs) will tell if Imperator: Rome will soar as high as its eagle standards, but until then there is an active community working on Imperator mods. They've not wasted any time in changing the vanilla experience of the game into something with a bit more flavour - or, in the very least, something easier to swallow.

As usual - and this is especially important for new players of Paradox titles - we've gone over how to mod your game at the bottom of the article. The vehicle we'll be using is Steam Workshop which makes adding mods to any Paradox title easy and simple. You don't need to go raiding the forums for this one although it's always worth checking them out for other, more creative mods that can't use Valve's built-in modding tools.

Imperator: Rome is over a year old now and while it might not shine as bright as its new sibling Crusader Kings III, the modding community has already put forward some great user creations to enhance the experience. The current Imperator: Rome version is 1.5 Menander, so make sure you check to make sure which version the below mods are compatible with.

Imperator: Rome is getting a complete rework of its user interface

There are big changes in store for Imperator: Rome - so big that Paradox is assigning its Roman-themed strategy game a new version number when it arrives. The Marius 2.0 update includes major changes to Imperator's overall pacing and combat systems, but the one that's going to be most obvious is the complete overhaul of the UI.

"In the Marius update, we'll be focusing on greatly improving the user experience on an interface level, as well as including a completely new art style", writes Imperator game director Peter Nicholson, in a development diary posted to the Paradox Forums today. Nicholson says the team intends to stick with Imperator's overall bright tone that sets it apart from many of Paradox's other grand strategy games, but that going forward it's going to look bolder and cleaner.

"I wanted a bold style, dropping a lot of the unnecessary cornels and border decorations that took up a significant quantity of screen real estate", he says. "You'll notice we still have decoration; this is used more carefully, and serves a purpose of its own - to draw attention or indicate the relative importance of an interface, or to create a feeling of immersion with pictures and scenes."
