Alan Wake and Control TV and movies look to be on the way from Annapurna, thanks to new partnership with Remedy over Control 2

Remedy’s done a thing. The studio has just announced it’s put together a partnership with Annapurna Interactive - you know, the folks who published that cat game and a bunch of other acclaimed indies - to help bankroll Control 2. As part of the deal, Annapurna’s getting the rights to bring Alan Wake and Control to TV and film screens.

As announced in a press release that contains at least one joke about Finnish people having no emotions, Remedy’s done this with the aim of making sure Control 2 is the all-singing, all-dancing thing its developers want to deliver.

Remedy partner with Annapurna to co-finance Control 2 and explore Control and Alan Wake TV and film adaptations

Remedy were “thrilled as Finnish people can be” to announce yesterday that they’ve secured funding for a Control sequel in a co-financing deal with Annapurna, who are also helping the Alan Wake studio bring their connected universe to “film, TV, and beyond”.


While I’m pretty jazzed to see what the coffee-addled minds that brought us Threshold Kids can conjure up under that tantalising ‘beyond’ label, I’ll skip the speculation from now. Here’s the skinny from Remedy’s communications director Thomas Puha:

Remedy secures cash for Control 2 and preps Alan Wake's movie debut

Control and Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment has announced a new "strategic partnership" with publisher Annapurna, which will see it "co-finance" development of Control 2 in a rather unique deal. While Annapurna will not publish the game, it will instead gain the rights to create TV and movie spin-offs from the Control and Alan Wake IP.
