Exploration Mode Update

The humble beginnings of Exploration Mode have now been released!

This is the start of our foray into open-ended gameplay. It's a mode to let players enjoy VR sailing and pirate ship battles away from the structured missions of the single-player campaign.

To unlock Exploration Mode, players will need to defeat the first boss, William "Tails" Avery. There will be a map held by the skeleton on the Island Hub. When grabbed, players can start Exploration Mode with enemies, or without enemies to sail in peace. There isn't too much yet, but players can enjoy sailing around a larger environment.

We hope to grow Exploration Mode into a fun experience on its own that players can keep coming back to for high seas action. It will also be used to introduce new features and gameplay elements that we plan to bring over to the single-player campaign.

The addition of Exploration Mode was made possible with feedback from our incredible community. We released Furious Seas into Early Access because we wanted to hear what everyone wanted in a VR pirate ship game to help guide our development. As a tiny indie studio, the responses we've received have been tremendously helpful and we can't thank you all enough!

Let us know your thoughts on Exploration Mode in our Steam Community Discussion Forums, and be sure to continue helping us navigate our development path on our interactive roadmap: https://furiousseas.canny.io

Patch - August 31, 2018

Yo-ho-ho!

Those with sharp eyes may have noticed that we snuck in a little update late last week. For those who didn't catch it, our enemy boats now have pirate captains at the helm! We've added unique characters for William "Tails" Avery and the "Demon Sisters" Mary and Sadie Bonnie as well!

Alas, the era of ghost pirate captains is over... for now.

New Additions
  • Generic pirate captains on enemy boats.
  • Crimson Bandits captains on boss boats.
