3/1/20 Hotfix Patch 1.4.6

Lawless Lands,

Hey everyone!

This is just a quick patch to fix an issue with the update from Thursday night. The issue was when on the World Map and fighting one of the bandit camps, it said file not found for one of the battlebacks.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

2/27/20 MASSIVE Update 1.4.5 [Combat Overhaul Pt2, Improvements, New Content]

Hey everyone!

So, here's the next GIGANTIC update! There are so many improvements, so much new content, and part two of the combat overhaul! Here are the highlights for tonight's update!

Dungeon Exploring

The dungeon exploring in Lawless Lands has always felt like it was missing a little something to me. Now, you'll need to actually explore dungeons and wilderness areas before they become fully visible. You have a visibility range which will illuminate the surrounding area.

Combat Facelift/Overhaul Part 2

I went through all 285+ maps and individually gave each and every one of them a new and improved high res battle background. Besides that, action points and combat abilities become strained as you (or your foes) take damage. The status effects have been streamlined, battle status animations have been added so for example if you're bleeding, you'll see your character bleed, and much more! More sound effects were added, the "Broken" state was added which makes characters rout in combat when their spirit reaches 0, shifting morale which makes combat more realistic, and combat AI has been improved! You can also now see the enemy spirit (morale) bars!



New Game + Mode

Tired of doing the intro? Worry no more! The next time you do it will be your last! You can always opt back in to playing it just after character creation!

Better Player Awareness Improvements

The character screen has been updated to display more handy information that may have been a bit hard to understand or find and the main menu has been given a tips screen so you get a small guide (especially with states and status effects) on some gameplay features.

Cinematic Improvements

There are certain times in the game where tension is supposed to be higher and more than just visual cues are needed. Music, sound effects, and other general improvements have been added throughout the game for these cases! More soundtracks have been added to the game as well!

More Roleplay Features

Basic haggling has been added, improvements and fine tweaks with the shifting alignment system, more choices and consequences have been added, and more!

More of the Main Story

Though it isn't much, the next few segments of the main storyline have been added. I got it to a good stopping point for now, so the next update will greatly expand upon it.

More Side Quests

Multiple new side quests have been added to the game!

New Enemies and Factions

The mercenary faction has been added, several factions have been tweaked and improved, and the bear has been added to the wild animal faction.

Many New Areas to Explore

New settlements, dungeons/wild areas to explore, quest locations, and more!

-Fixed Warhounds not Automatically Unlocking Howl
-Fixed losing Spirit Points in Combat Incorrectly being Displayed (Example: "BLANK lost spirit points 5" instead of "BLANK lost 5 spirit points")
-Fixed a Bug that caused Buying Prices of Items to become 0 or even negative when Discounts are higher

-Prowess is now added as a Percentage to Item Prices when Selling (Due to this change and given the unlimited discount potential, default selling prices have gone back to 50% instead of 65%)
-Posture is now added to Action Point Maximum
-Added Delrye to the Signpost in Kordon Province
-Slightly increased the Chance of Armor being Damaged when Hit
-Increased the Distance moved in Combat
-Removed the -1 Disposition from Supply Stashes (Didn't realize I left that in there from testing)

-Supply Tracker on the HUD will now turn Orange when at 15 or below as a Warning to EAT or DRINK
-Added a Light Sound Effect to Play when Supplies tick
-Added a Deep Sound Effect to Play when Supplies become 15 or lower with each tick
-Slightly increased Supply tick time
-Improved the Description for the "Poaching Problems" Quest in the Journal to give better Clues as to what exactly is Required
-Changed the Text Messages to no longer Instantly Display (You can hit any key and it will automatically finish)
-Made the Intro Fight much Easier and slightly more Rewarding
-Raised all Alcohol Prices by 2 (This makes finding them more rewarding and slightly balances the economy)
-Added a simple New Game + Mode (Checks if you've at least completed the intro and if you have, gives you the choice to skip it or play it again)
-Added Quick Jab Specific Skill for Daggers
-Replaced Cleave with Quick Jab for all Dagger Class Weapons
-Updated Enemies with Quick Jab instead of Cleave if they have Daggers
-Removed Dazed Status (Was just a duplicate of Stunned)
-Updated Hindered Icon Art
-Added a Tips Screen to the Main Menu that gives some useful Hints and Descriptions about all the Status Effects

-New Morale Combat System (Basically, whenever someone is hit in combat, they'll lose 30% of that vigor damage as spirit also, but when they hit someone else, they gain 1 to simulate the shifting tide of a battle, this number is kept low and at a constant 1 so it doesn't make things ridiculous for spell users, status effects still also influence this in larger ways so that it's not a constant back and forth struggle)
-Added "Broken" State (When a character is in combat and has their spirit reach 0, they'll automatically Break in combat and will not fight, the only way to remove this is to gain spirit or win)
-Updated Critical Hit Text to "Critical!" instead of "Critical hit!"
-Added some new Cinematic Style stuff to the intro
-Added Status Animations to Combat
-Maximum Action Points are now directly tied to Vigor Points (50%) - (So, as you lose health, you lose the ability to perform as many unique combat actions such as heavy attacks to simulate wounds and injuries, everyone has a base of 15 + posture + health maximum * 50%)
-Updated the Tutorial to explain Action Points
-Diseased Animals now Drop significantly less edible Meat and more Rotten Meat
-Added Disposition Shifts when taking down the Bandit Camps in the "Trade Raids" Quest
-Made the Kidnapper start with the Panicked State in Combat in the "All Too Common" Quest
-Made the Blocked Sound Effect in Combat Randomized with 5 Variants
-Added a Critical Hit Sound Effect
-Added "One Hit Wonder" Special Testing Weapon for Debugging and Testers (500 Damage, +50% Critical, +100% Accuracy, No Durability, No Weight, Vampiric, +500 Attack Speed)
-Changed the low Supplies Warning Sound Effect from an obnoxious eating noise to a stomach growling
-Slightly lowered the default Sound Level of Supply Loss Indicator and Raised it slightly when Supplies are low
-Set the Music Track for the Intro Fight to be consistent with the mood (No more random music tracks for that fight)
-Removed the overwhelming Lighting Effects from the Pyrshen Hospital
-Added some more Decor to the Pyrshen Hospital
-Added an Intro and additional Hint when first entering the Pyrshen Hospital
-Updated Candle Icon Art (It looks more waxy now)
-Added Max AP Parameter to the Statistics Submenu in the Character Menu
