Humble Halloween sale offers spooky discounts on big games

Every game counts among the ranks of Halloween games now - at least judging by the number of Halloween events we've written about in the past handful of weeks - but if you still need more spooky games to play, there are a load of sales out there to help you stack your collection. The Epic Halloween sale is live, and you can hop in for the Humble Halloween Sale now, too.

It's not all horror games, either. You can grab remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 for half off, or RE7 at 67%, sure, but Capcom's also got games like Monster Hunter World available for 34% off, or Devil May Cry 5 at 20% off. If you want some gothic superhero action, the whole Batman: Arkham series is similarly on offer at 75% off, or you can get the Tomb Raider or Hitman games at big savings.

If you do want to get spooky, though, there are plenty of options. Perennial favourite Dying Light is on offer at 66% off, Dead by Daylight is 60% off (and its DLC is on discount, too), recent indie body horror monstrosity Carrion is 25% off, and even the ol', beloved Alan Wake is down to 75% off.

Resident Evil movies get rebooted and recast, actually based on the games this time

The Resident Evil movies have their defenders - and, okay, fine, they're not that bad - but there's little arguing that they have very little connection to the games they're theoretically based on. Now a reboot of the film series is coming, and it's actually going to draw from the original games this time around.

Johannes Roberts will write and direct "an official origin story adaptation with faithful ties to Capcom's classic survival horror games. This story is set in 1998 on a fateful night in Raccoon City", as Deadline reports. Producer Robert Kulzer says "we felt compelled to return to the year 1998, to explore the secrets hidden in the walls of the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon City".

The film's already got its main cast, too. Robbie Amell of Upload plays Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper of The Umbrella Academy plays Wesker, Kaya Scodelario of Maze Runner plays Claire Redfueld, Hannah John-Kamen plays Jill Valentine, Avan Jogia of Zombieland: Double Tap plays Leon Kennedy, and Neal Mcdonough of Yellowstone plays William Birkin.

Netflix is making a Resident Evil series set in New Raccoon City

7.5% of upcoming Netflix TV adaptations come from videogames

Netflix is making a Resident Evil series set in New Raccoon City

Netflix has officially announced the production of a Resident Evil series. The eight-episode season will reportedly feature twin sisters Jade and Billie Wesker, and has Supernatural's Andrew Dabb in charge of writing.

According to Netflix's NX channel, the series is live action and will feature eight one-hour episodes in its initial season. There's no word yet on plans for any subsequent seasons for the horror game's small screen adaptation. The first two episodes are being directed by Bronwen Hughes, who has directed episodes of The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Hawaii Five-0, and others.

One synopsis posted to Twitter says the series will be split across two timelines. In one, the Wesker sisters move to New Raccoon City, which is a company town where not everything is as it seems - and they begin to have suspicions about what their father (presumably Albert Wesker, who last appeared in Resident Evil: Revelations 2) is up to. The second timeline is said to be set in the near future, following an apocalyptic T-virus event that has spread across the world, infecting more than six billion people and animals and leaving only about 15 million living humans on Earth.
