PTS 1.3: New Base Tiers & Backpack in Backpack Storage
Hello Deadsiders!
Today we begin public testing of version 1.3!

Before we get into the details of this version, it's important that we let everyone know that there will be NO WIPE! So no need to worry about the fortresses that you have constructed, they will still be there when version 1.3 releases.

This version continues to expand our base building with the addition of two new base tiers, logs and concrete. Log structures are simple to construct, allowing us to reduce the health of Branch tier. This means any impromptu Branch structures that players construct in combat will now be much less effective. Concrete is now the strongest tier, dethroning metal. This will allow players to make their bases even more secure, however raiders will be getting a stronger explosive charge as well.

The full patch notes can be found below the testing instructions. There are some exciting features like backpack in backpack storage, so give it a read!

How to connect to the Public Test Server (PTS):
 • Right-click Deadside in your Steam library; click on Properties…;
 • Choose BETAS, then select the “public_test_server - PTS” branch from the drop-down menu;
 • Wait for the update to download and launch the game;
 • Connect to one of the available official PTS servers, which depends on your location.
How to switch back to the live version of the game:
 • Right-click Deadside in your Steam library, then click on Properties…;
 • Choose BETAS, then select the “None” branch from the drop-down menu;
 • Wait for an update to download and launch the game;
 • Connect to one of the available official live servers depending on your location.

Future Plans & 1.2 Overview Video
Hello Deadsiders!
Today we would like to discuss our plans for development going forward, so that you know what to expect from our next few updates. Though before we begin, if you haven’t seen much about version 1.2 yet, we have created a short overview video that covers the major changes:

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
It's important to remember that any plans we discuss today may need to change. There are many factors that go into the decision making process during game development, and we believe that keeping a relatively flexible development plan helps us make the best game possible. This is also why we won’t be giving out any dates today, though we can at least tell you which features will take the most development time.

If you are in our official discord, you may have already heard that we are planning to add more base upgrade tiers soon. Bases will now have five tiers, with the addition of a new tough brick/concrete, and a log tier. New concrete and brick items will be added to the game world to accommodate the new brick/concrete tier. Additionally, the plank tier has been visually remodeled and improved. Here are a few WIP development screenshots showing the new base structures:

New tiers aren’t the only thing you can expect to be added into base building, we are also working on sandbag barricades, and possibly 1/4th walls. Though the smaller walls will need to be playtested carefully before being released to the live client, so you can expect a PTS update with them at some point.

Looking farther into the future, while we are working with various features and ideas, a lot of our effort is currently going into creating a modkit. As we mentioned before, creating a modkit for Deadside requires lots of time consuming R&D. It's likely that we will release multiple versions of the modkit as time goes on, with each release containing more features, and allowing for more modification to the game. This work has to be done carefully, as there are anti-cheat and other security concerns inherent to releasing these files. Our priority is to create a modkit with the features you want, while maintaining the integrity of the game that players expect.

While our programmers are hard at work with the modkit, our artists and level designers have begun working on a new map! This second map is much smaller than our current one, built for high intensity PvP, while being visually distinct from the autumn forests that Deadsiders have become accustomed to over the years. Currently this map is still early in development, so you will still see some empty areas in this preview image. These areas will eventually be populated, but in the meantime have a look at this WIP image:

We are always looking to the community for feedback on features and ideas, with Nolt being one of our primary platforms for this purpose. So if you have an idea that you would like us to consider, head over there and let us know! Voting on ideas you like, or dislike, is just as important. It helps us gauge which features the community wants overall. Of course we also have the #feedback-and-report channel which we monitor as well.

Thanks for reading, let us know what you think about our plans!

Game Moderation
Hello Deadsiders!
Today we would like to discuss in more detail some changes in community management, while reminding everyone about the in-game rules of conduct. This is especially relevant now that Deadside has a team of game moderators, which has already proved its effectiveness dealing with cheaters and maintaining order on the servers. This is also a huge credit to our community, thank you for your reports!

Be sure to join the official Deadside server on #Discord and take an active part in the development of the game and community. We adhere to the principles of fair play and strive to make the gameplay enjoyable for all players. So if you suspect a player of unfair play using third-party software, gaining an advantage by using exploits, offensive behavior, griefing, or other actions aimed at breaking the normal gameplay for other players - be sure to let us know in the channel #feedback-and-report, the moderator team reacts quite fast.

⚠️Please be advised that with the release of update 1.2 we have disallowed building on bridges, but on some of them it is still technically possible ( will be fixed in the next update). Nevertheless, structures that block the traffic on bridges and riverbeds disrupt gameplay for other players and will be considered as a violation. In addition, players have been very creative in building offensive symbols and words using the game's base-building mechanics, which is also an in game violation.

We have provided players with the ability to communicate freely in the game's chat, but obviously we all see inappropriate offensive language, spamming, or other inappropriate behavior on a frequent basis.

The violations mentioned above will now result in temporary and permanent bans. Moreover, we are implementing a progressive penalty system so that repeated violations will result in more severe sanctions. We do not plan to start a witch hunt, but we are committed to ensuring that all players have the best possible experience playing Deadside.

If you received a ban and it is not shown on your Steam account, you probably got a temporary ban, you can check it in the channel #temp-bans on our Discord server - this is a temporary solution, in the near future all information about the ban, if you received it, will be displayed in the game client..

The next point relates to changes in the appeals process. We will now use the form: https://tblink.co/DeadsideBanAppeal

Appeals for bans issued due to the use of prohibited software can still be made on the BattlEye website at https://www.battleye.com/contact/.

I would like to draw your attention in advance that we do not provide “amnesty” or unbanning for any reason if you have been detected for cheating. Account safety is entirely the responsibility of its owner, remember that. The use of cheats on an account will result in loss of access to the game, no matter who used it.

Temporary ban - consider that you were given time to think about, as you went way overboard. Make conclusions and do not repeat mistakes. Do not expect that the ban will be lifted on the basis of “I won't do it again”

Play fair and Respect other players - this is the main tenet of the Deadside community

Pretty soon we will share some news regarding some future development plans for the game - should be really interesting, stay tuned ;)
