[Dev Blog] Dungeon 1-1: Forest of Mist (Expedition)

[Dev Blog] Dungeon 1-1: Forest of Mist (Expedition)

Greetings Captains,

I'd like to talk to you about the dungeons where you will lead the Corps Crew on their expedition to find the key to survival.

There are various dimensions inside the Pillar of Despair. The very first area you will traverse is the "Forest of Mist" (Area 1).

Many of you will be familiar with the Forest of Mist as it had been shown in the Teaser trailer, the PAX East 2019 trailer and the PAX demo.

It used to be the lush forest. But after a peculiar outbreak of diseases, all the fauna and flora of the forest died and only their vestiges remain on the ground.

It doesn’t appear to be a normal forest anymore.

Now then, shall we look into the dungeon of Forest of Mist?
(Early stage of Area 1) (Execution Ground) (Central Area)

The expanse of the Forest of Mist is arranged with many obstacles and you can pass by the 'Execution Ground' and the 'Central Area'.

Are you getting an ominous feeling by now?

I’ll be back with the battle map where you face monsters in the Forest of Mist (Area 1).

[Dev Blog] Expedition Skills: Grim Reaper's Death Sensor

[Dev Blog] Expedition Skills: Grim Reaper's Death Sensor

Greetings Captains,

Finally, allow me to introduce the eighth expedition skill.
Who can the long-awaited character possibly be? Hmm...

Obviously, it’s the Grim Reaper!

Despite how Grim Reaper looks, she is a novice.
As a new member of the underworld, the Grim Reaper is fervent, but her overzealousness also leads to making unfortunate mistakes. Her most regrettable mistake is losing the underworld registry while carrying out a mission, so as not to be able to return to the underworld.

That’s why the Grim Reaper is currently enlisted in the Corps Crew—to find the registry. As a personified force of Death, she is helping out the Expedition Corps with the “Death Sensor”.

Death Sensor can help you spot monsters, even in areas that you cannot see due to the thick mist.

It is a great expedition skill to use when you lack Light Flower and need to avoid dangerous situations. You see how this can come in handy, right?

This concludes the MISTOVER Expedition Skills introduction. However, there is no need to be bummed out.

I’ll be back with other interesting topics!

[Dev Blog] Expedition Skills: Sister's Bless

[Dev Blog] Expedition Skills: Sister's Bless

Greetings Captains,

Today, I want to introduce to you Sister, the nun of the Cross Order.

She was a pious and reserved nun, but after a near-drowning accident... she became a wholly new person! She says that she hears the voice of God and follows them rather than her faith. She only seeks pleasure even by harassing and deceiving other people.

Although she may have changed, her expedition skill retains the piety of her faith.

“Bless” is her apt expedition skill.

"Bless" accelerates the health recovery speed during your expedition.

This is a useful skill when you need to recover your health quickly, but you should be careful because you cannot use any other exploration skills while you're using the "Bless".

I’ll be back with Grim Reaper’s expedition skill!

MISTOVER PAX EAST 2019 Recap!

MISTOVER PAX EAST 2019 Recap!

Greetings Captains,

PAX East may have come and gone, but the buzz about MISTOVER is continuing. Fans and press alike lined up to play the forthcoming RPG yielding positive comments all around. Check out the PAX Recap video!

Fan's reactions
  • “I absolutely loved it, I can honestly say it is a unique RPG. It makes me extremely happy to play it!”
  • "It was pretty good, I like the graphics and the gameplay was very interesting. It had a very strategic feel”
  • “The art style is really interesting. I like the darkness. It’s great being worried about where you move. Every movement is critical and might attract a spore a little bit more, help you find something, or even do I get out of here alive! It was really challenging”
  • “I like the artwork and aesthetics that is what usually draws me into the game. As I watched it yesterday it really excited me as a turn-based strategy. So today I made it a priority to come by the booth and play first thing.”

Media's reactions
  • Marooner’s Rock honored MISTOVER with "Writer's Choice Award" and ‘Best of Show’ at PAX EAST 2019. (A round of applause!!)

  • Game Informer editor Daniel Tack also had a chance to try out MISTOVER and had this to say: “I went hands-on with the roguelike tactical RPG Mistover. In a nutshell, it's like what would happen if Darkest Dungeon and Etrian Odyssey had a baby. An anime baby. Featuring a cool cast of characters including witches and grim reapers, the stylized combat loaded with tough choices is the highlight of the experience.”

  • Blogcritics
mentioned that “The art style is very similar to Darkest Dungeon, as is the dark scope of the project, but the rest is a very different experience...At the surface, I took this as a pure Darkest Dungeon clone, but developer Bluehole has brought a lot of depth and originality to Mistover.”
  • Nindie Spotlight (Article 1, Article 2) articles,,
  • You can also find interviews at SwitchRPGcom and Nintendo Dual Screens

The Aimo team has a lot more in store in the coming months and is looking forward to showing off more of the game, its systems, and features as it makes its way to release.

Thank you so much!
