Aftershocks Quickstart Feature Arrives + Patch Notes and Bug Fixes

Additions/Improvements
  • Quickstart for Aftershocks is now available! It allows direct access to the free Aftershocks post-game content.
  • Vive Controls for the UV Flashlight has been updated: the player can now double tap “down” on either trackpad to activate the UV Flashlight


Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where the radio could stutter or play the incorrect lines when first starting the Aftershocks content from a post-game save
  • Fixed an issue where if the player never picked up a key for Aftershocks and left the map, it would not respawn
  • Distant gun fire should no longer sound like it’s in the player’s ear
  • Impact sounds should play again
  • Invincible Collapsed Walkers / Toe Piranhas / Demon Logs should now be extinct
  • Player should now be able to exit the credits early
  • Fall Knife Giveaway has ended. Thank you all for your participation and support!

Aftershocks Launch, Weekend Sale, and New Aftershocks Features

Hey there Tourists,

The Aftershocks update is finally here, and as such we at Skydance Interactive want to make sure that you have the best experience you can have with it. Today, we would like to reveal one such way we are working to make the experience even better for our players, alongside some news and details that may be relevant to you.

Upcoming Quick Start Feature
While Aftershocks is intended to be played after you have reached the credits, we understand that some players may find themselves without a completed save file and not wanting to play through the entirety of the game again just to see the what's new.

To satisfy these players, we plan to implement a quick start option that will allow you to jump straight into the Aftershocks content without finishing a playthrough. This feature will be implemented in a patch following shortly after the initial update, so if you do not have a post-game save file yet, you can choose to wait for this feature. 

Weekend Sale
We also plan to have a Weekend Sale alongside the update, starting today and ending on September 27th, so even more tourists can start their walker slaying journey while veteran players continue their own. If you haven't experience The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners before, here's your chance to jump straight into the action.

Important information for HTC Vive Users
Finally, we have a note to all HTC VIVE Users: Some users may find some difficulty in how a new flashlight focused feature is currently implemented mechanically. Expect tweaks to this system to come with a patch in the days that follow the update.

New Release Date for Aftershocks + FAQ!

Thanks for your patience, Tourists.

We know that delays are always tough. For our first simultaneous cross-platform content release, the team has been working hard at getting all versions of the update to live up to our standards.

The good news is that we have a new launch date for Aftershocks, September 23rd!  

The content itself is playable and practically complete, but we are trying to smooth out as many rough edges as we can find. We have been humbled by how many of you have enjoyed the game, and Aftershocks won’t be the end of the content coming to The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. We will reveal more on this in the coming months.

Still, since September is over a month away, and fans are clamoring to know more about Aftershocks, we thought we would provide an FAQ / feature breakdown to hold you over, and help you prepare for the time being.

What exactly is the Aftershocks update? Aftershocks is the next free update for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, expanding the campaign of the game with a new set of post-ending missions, supply caches to find, and a new set of challenges to test your survival skills.

Is it coming to all platforms?
Yes! The Aftershocks update will be coming the same day to all VR platforms that Saints & Sinners has been released on. 

How do I play the new content?
You will have to have reached the ending of the game’s storyline first before the new content unlocks. Once you have officially entered the post-game (i.e. after the credits) keep your radio tuned to channel 47, you may find that it’s worth your while. 

What does the new update include?
Alongside the new missions, the update includes a number of Reserve Caches to find that are filled with late game supplies and unique collectibles, new enemy layouts and scenarios, a new type of environmental hazard to watch out for, and a few extra surprises you’ll find throughout your playthrough. 

Will there be new areas in Aftershocks?
You will be returning to old locations during your time in Aftershocks, but each mission drastically changes, and makes it more challenging, what you’ve grown accustomed to expect. Put simply, the areas are familiar but what you’ll encounter within them won’t be.

Will there be new weapons/items in Aftershocks?
While your walker slaying arsenal won’t be drastically changed by this new update, there may be a new tool that will change the way you interact with the world of Saints & Sinners...beyond that, we can’t say much. 

How Long is the new update?
On a standard playthrough the update should provide around 4 to 6 hours of new content.

How big will the download for the new update be?
The download size for the update will depend on which version of the game you are playing, but our current estimations are as follows...
  • PCVR - 31.3GB
  • Oculus Quest 1/2 - 6.73GB
  • PSVR - 9.67GB
  
More space may be necessary than listed for the initial download, but the total update after installation will be close to the sizes listed above.

When is the Aftershocks update even coming out?
Our new planned release date for the update will be September 23rd, 2021. 

Minor update for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

Updated the redistributables that are included with the game from 2015 & 2017 to 2019.

An Announcement Regarding Aftershocks

Hello Tourists,

We have been spending a lot of time in the past weeks getting our game ready for the announced Aftershocks update. However, technical issues have arisen which we did not anticipate. Launching on multiple platforms and upgrading to a new engine version is tricky to say the least.

The bottom line is that we do not want to ship without knowing that you can access the Aftershocks update on whatever supported VR hardware you are using and have an experience up to our standards. As such we have made the hard decision to delay this update initially planned for May 20.

This delay may push the launch by several weeks. We know having a definitive answer is important, so we will reach back out on our social channels once we have a final date we are confident we can hit.
