Introducing Low City - Dev-diary Video

Welcome to Low City!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

In today's article, we want to introduce you to one of the levels of futuristic Warsaw City, which is Low City. In the dev-diary video, focused on the mentioned location, Łukasz Hacura (Executive Producer) and Marcin Przybyłek (Author of Gamedec book series) bring back the inspirations for creating such a unique place as well as the challenges and obstacles for the development team. The nearly 5-minute material did not lack new materials from Low City and Yeti's Bar, so we encourage you to watch the video till the end.

You can also find more information about the Gamedec world in the exclusive article published by PC Gamer. Read the whole article by clicking the link below:

"Low City, where it's perpetually dark, is home to lots of night clubs and gangsters, and below that are the ruins of old Warsaw, where scavengers root around for artefacts, books and other pieces of Warsaw's history. If you're visiting it to meet a client and begin an investigation, you might be robbed, ripped off or get into some bother with the local gangsters, but there's no combat system in Gamedec. That doesn't mean things can't descend into violence, but expect to spend a lot more time chatting." - Fraser Brown, PC Gamer.

In addition, below we have a new portion of screenshots for you. Enjoy!

Stay tuned, because next week we will unveil more cards related to Steam Wishlist Challenge!

Gamescom 2019 PAX West Summary

Gamedec was announced right before Gamescom in Cologne. We went there to show our early alpha build to the media behind closed doors on the B2B area. Two weeks later, we brought the build to showcase the game on the PAX West floor. We couldn't waste this opportunity, so we've prepared a survey for those who were playing the demo. Boom! We have some juicy data to process and share!

The average time of completing the PAX West demo was 14 minutes and 31 seconds. Plenty of time to learn the mechanics, how to use systems, and how our decisions lead to several outcomes. It was fun to watch players try different approaches because they saw what their predecessor has chosen.

In the survey, we tried to cover some crucial data on how people enjoy Gamedec. What's their background or platform preferences and how deep into pen & paper roleplaying they are. The results are:
  • Our average player was 32 years old.

Only 12% of players described themselves as "Casual Gamers" while over 32% chose "Hardcore Gamers" as their answer. The majority [56%] picked the last option - Mid-Core Gamer.

Not surprisingly, 72% described themselves as active in this field of interest. From this group of people, 63% said they roleplay at least once a week, 14% raid dungeons once a month, and 12% enjoys the company of theirs group at least once a quarter.

What is interesting is the ratio between PC and Console players. 35% of the respondents chose Console as their first choice of a gaming platform. 65% were loyal to PC gaming.

From this raw data, we can deduce that people interested in Gamedec are experienced PC players, who enjoy roleplaying and describe themselves as mid-core gamers. They often play and enjoy both indies and AAA productions, but don't tend to push themselves into competitive-based games or hardcore grinding. Hungry for stories and engaging decision-making, taught by Pen & Paper sessions that decisions matter and must be chosen wisely.

We want to thank the media and the community for being with us on both Gamescom and PAX West. We appreciate the feedback we received, the positive energy flowing on social media, and answering direct questions about the game and its design.

To all of our surveyors – thank you for participating in our field research and honest answers. Based on the data we collected, we can push the envelope even further and make Gamedec even better.
