Weekly Recap #31: Puzzle!

Hi Fox Riders,

The sheep are not just there to populate the plain. These fluffy creatures are part of a puzzle designed by our Level Designer, Fabrice (FabCactus on Discord). So, last week we mainly focus on making sure that everything works fine for the puzzle idea he has.

Our three kind of sheep are now fully finished 😍 baa 🐏 🐑 🐏



In that mysterious puzzle, we use flowers to attract sheep.



The gif below shows you something more technical. It's how we easily change the Houdini digital asset of the flowers in Unity3D.



Here's another gif showing you how we can create and modify another Houdini digital asset in Unity3D. That's a lot of fun and time saving.

Feel like that polishing step on the Ancestral Forest is taking ages! Here's a video of Quentin painting the sheep in zbrush 🐏

Here are the sheep running away from me after I burnt half of the Ancestral Forest in the game. Fair enough.



This was hard to decide but we finally picked a name for that flower from the lore. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions!

Weekly Recap #29: Tree of Life and Cemetery

Hello Fox Riders,

I hope that you all had a great weekend. I personally needed to disconnect myself from the project during the weekend because last week was pretty intensive and I was exhausted. The good news is that thanks to that intensive week, we'll soon have a new gameplay trailer video of Nanotale ːepipartyː

Besides the new video, we mostly worked on polishing existing places.

The Tree of Life


The Tree of Life needed some "Magical" effects to be considered as finished. Here's the effect with a view from the editor.



Here's a video showing you how we create a concept art of the corruption that poisons the Tree of Life in the game.



Cemetery


East from the village in the Ancestral Forest, there is a peaceful graveyard. Here's the view from the editor.



Now a close up to the graveyard. We added some beautiful roots to bring more life to it.

Weekly Recap #28: Fish and rocks



Hi Fox Riders,

Last week, we continued to work on concepts and modelings of the Sunken Caves with the plan to have the two first biomes ready before Gamescom.


Dwellers from the Sunken Caves are mostly Fishermen, remember? Here are some concepts of the fishes you can find in that biome.




The world of Nanotale is poisonned, and poison will look like this.



Rocks again! We need more diversity in the caves.
