FaZe Clan announce Among Us In-Vent-Ational tournament

FaZe Clan has announced it is running a tournament for the extremely popular title, Among Us. The tournament has been humorously dubbed the 'Among Us In-Vent-Ational' and is planned to run for one day on October 19 at 14:00 PT / 22:00 BST.

There are 40 spaces in total open for content creators, streamers, and celebrities. So far, confirmed participants include, Yousef 'FaZe Apex' Abdelfattah, Josue 'FaZe Sway' Sway, and LeBron James' son, LeBron 'FaZe Bronny' James Jr. with more competitors to be announced shortly. Each player will have extra incentive with a cash prize of $25,000 on the line.

The tournament will be a solo competitor game which will create a free-for-all environment among players where no one can be trusted and everyone is sus. FaZe Clan will air the Among Us In-Vent-Ational livestream on their official YouTube and Twitch channels, and to reward viewers for tuning in FaZe Clan merchandise will be given out to selected lucky viewers.

Here's Among Us in Unreal Engine 4 with ray tracing

If you're a fan of social deduction games, multiplayer games, and getting to run around a spaceship as a little bean while accusing your pals of being murdery impostors, you'll probably have heard of Among Us by now. Innersloth's title has become more than a little popular of late, hitting 1.5 million concurrent players on Steam alone last month. Since then it's seen Final Fantasy 14, Rainbow Six Siege, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine mash-ups - and, now, it's been recreated in 3D with RTX.

YouTuber Backitdev has posted a clip - included below - in which he demonstrates how he "made Among Us with RTX support in Unreal Engine 4". While the developer says he's only finished the creation's level design so far, "later maybe [he]'ll make a playable game as well". Starting with building the bare bones of Among Us' spaceship interiors - the walls, windows, and doorways - Backitdev says he aimed to recreate the 3D map to the same proportions as Among Us' version.

The dev also explains he made some furniture - a round table and seats - in Blender to help make its appearance close to Among Us' original version, followed by a bunch of other items and features recognisable from the game, like that "hologram map" in the admin room.

You can now play Among Us with anonymous voting and no taskbar

New options for toggling whether the taskbar is shown or not, as well as anonymous voting, is now available on the Among Us beta branch on Steam.

The murder mystery game that is absolutely not inspired by 80s horror film The Thing has been super popular with some of the biggest streamers on both Twitch and YouTube, even if Shroud "didn't particularly love it". Among Us has also seen a big surge in popularity over the past couple of months. It's currently the fourth most played game on Steam at the time of writing, and it has also seen at least 100 million downloads on mobile devices.

In a normal game of Among Us, up to ten players are tasked with completing objectives around a derelict space ship or an abandoned space colony. Up to two of those players are impostors, whose goal is to slay everyone else without getting lynched by group votes. You can either have the game tell you if the person who was voted off in group votes was an impostor, or leave their identity anonymous.
