Banishing Bothersome Bugs

March!

That's not a command - just the month of this devlog! On the heels of our Lunar New Year cosmetic drops, it's now time for a few changes. We also have a bunch of fixes and quality-of-life updates to make it even easier to complete your tasks. Hint: the task is to betray your friends.

Before you get ejected, let's take a peak.

NOTE: v2024.3.05 IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OLDER VERSIONS. UPDATE YOUR GAME TO KEEP PLAYING WITH EVERYONE.

[h3]Fixing more than just the vibes[/h3]

While a Crewmate's life can be cut drastically short (don't look at me like that), it doesn't mean we can't give it a little bump in quality - don't worry Impostors, this is for you too.

Here's the list of fixes with today's update:

Crewmates will no longer teleport or 'snap' to a task when starting one.
Main Menu no longer goes to black screen after quickly selecting a map from the Practice Menu.
A variety of cosmetic fixes so you can continue having good drip.
RB and R1 prompts don't appear on the screen twice when using cams on controller.
Lobby Settings won't remain on screen at the start of a match.
Previewing items in a Cosmicube display on your selected Crewmate color instead of defaulting to Red.
[Classic] The Impostor count no longer reduces twice when an ejected Impostor leaves the game.
[Airship] Crewmates will not get stuck in the climbing animation while on a ladder when a sabotage ends.
[The Fungle] Crewmates hats no longer float behind them when riding the zipline. They finally hold onto their hats.
[Practice][The Fungle] Crewmates will no longer clip through the map if they are using the zipline or ladders when a sabotage ends.
The "You're Boned" cosmetic icon is now correctly displayed.

That is quite a healthy list of fixes but our programmers will be vigilant and keep looking to fix more bugs as they show themselves! If you think you've seen one scuttling about, please send us a support ticket so we can get to squashing.

STOMP STOMP STOMP

Hey, Crewmates! We're still busy STOMP STOMP squishing as many STOMP bugs as we STOMP STOMP can. Phew!

But the task never ends, and we're always on the lookout for new bugs to crush. Some are tricky, though, and take a while to figure out even after we know where they like to hide. Down below you'll find a short list of bugs we already know about but that we haven't quite figured out the best way to stomp out.

Known Bugs:

[The Fungle] Crewmates may sometimes leave their hand behind on the zipline.
[The Fungle] Player's left hand may not appear as the correct color while wearing the Right Hand Man skin and using the zipline.
After attempting to merge a temporary account into a full account, some players may experience a Friendcode Fail error preventing account login
Impostors may teleport to a vent near a Crewmate when the Crewmate completes the "Clean Vent" task, even if the Impostor was not in the vent at the time.

As always, please send in a bug report any time you find a bug or an error in-game! Be sure to be as descriptive as you can and send along any pictures or video clips that might help us work on the problem.

Everyone at the studio is prepping for an exciting 2024 and we can't wait to share our roadmap (A.K.A. plan) with all of you, but we have a few updates to bring you first. We can't just vent to the new goodies like an Impostor or something...

Note: You will need to restart your game to see the changes. It'll take a little longer to load than normal because of the update so don't panic!

Crewmates need all of the luck they can get, so gear up with our brand new Lunar New Year Cosmicube. Celebrate the Year of the Dragon as a dragon or rep your zodiac sign because everyone is here~ Gather your friends and family for this Cosmicube before it's gone on May 8, 2024!

You can purchase the Cosmicube for 20 Stars in the store. Once obtained, you can unlock items that correspond with each sign of the zodiac - Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig, and even a Cat! (Fun fact: some countries have the Year of the Cat instead of the Rabbit.)

Among Us' animated series first look shows a lot of pizza, but not many crewmates

Our first look at the Among Us animated series is here, and while it might be a small one, at least we now know "work on the show is progressing."

Back in June, last year, it was announced that Among Us, a game with no narrative, is getting an animated series. We haven't really heard much about it since then, but earlier this week the official Among Us Twitter account shared an image from the show, and yeah, it looks like a still from an Among Us animated series! "Patient Crewmates are rewarded with a pizza party (totally safe) (not a trap)," reads the caption for the image, which shows an empty cafeteria, each table hosting a delicious pizza pie. At the back of the mess hall you can see some balloons (yay!) and a banner with a big blood splatter in the middle of it, making it so that the text on it reads "we're dead" (boooo).

There's not really much to go off of here, but it's a nice drawing at the very least? Unfortunately there aren't any Among Us beans to be found, but given the banner, it might be safe to assume they're all dead.

We hope you've been enjoying the Indie Cosmicube! If you haven't picked it up yet be sure to do so and come up with an outfit that screams I REALLY LOVE INDIE GAMES!!1!!1!!

Our winter holiday is coming up and plans are forming to spend time roasting marshmallows in The Fungle. Before we go, let's look back on some highlights of 2023:

[h3]Collabs[/h3]
We had a bunch of collabs with our friends at Bungie, Pusheen, and Paramount. And of course our friends Behemoth, Untitled Goose Game, A Hat in Time, Celeste, Undertale, and Crypt of the Necrodancer as part of the Indie Cosmicube.

Are you being a task master in your favorite collab outfit? We can't spill the beans about next year but we're not ending our collaborations here so keep your visors peeled. 👀

[h3]Beans grow up so fast[/h3]
It wasn't all fancy new outfits this year (I do love a good fashion game though). Among Us grew in many new ways - like turning 5 years old and celebrating with a birthday stream!

We also said farewell to the main menu which has been the gateway to many betrayals and clip-able moments for all of you. To replace it, we said hello to our brand new menu along with improvements to Quick Chat, reporting features, and continually squishing bugs.

[h3]Fungus Among Us[/h3]
This year wouldn't have been complete without the addition of our latest map - The Fungle! You've been ziplining, fishing, pumping iron, roasting marshmallows (and Crewmates) on the fifth Among Us map. What's been your favorite part of The Fungle?

Woah, woah! Don’t forget about us beans in the VR world!

Among Us VR has had a great year of highlights: the addition of Polus Point, sweet sweet LoFi jams, improvements to matchmaking and moderation, Fidget Features, and ALL 🎉 OF 🎉 THE 🎉 HATS. 🎉

But we aren’t stopping there. We’ve got numerous surprises in our backpacks getting ready to share next year… which you can get a sneak peek of in our 2024 Roadmap!

Big thank you to our players for making this year a great one of growth, learnings, and adorable bean death! Err… teamwork. Yeah, teamwork! 👀

It's been a really fun year of tasks, bug squishing, collabing, and map releasing, but now it's time for all of us at the studio to take a little winter holiday so we'll be ready for more shenanigans in 2024!
