Among Us is definitely getting a League of Legends Arcane crossover

November 10, 2021 Innersloth has officially announced the arrival of League of Legends champion cosmetics in the Among Us in-game store.

Riot Games is teasing a crossover between League of Legends and Among Us. The developer's new RiotX Arcane Progress Days trailer features a shot of some Among Us crewmates tootling around in LoL-inspired duds. One crewmate we see is dressed as an enforcer from the Arcane show's Piltover city, while the other looks like League of League's inventor Heimerdinger.

If you've been out of the loop, Riot has been celebrating the launch of the Arcane Netflix show with various crossovers with games like Fortnite and PUBG alongside in-game events for League of Legends. Progress Days is the next one, and it's themed around an in-show holiday that sees the people of Piltover celebrate all things tech.

Today, Innersloth tweeted confirmation of the crossover, showing an Enforcer and 'Heimer' crewmembers near the cockpit, wearing champion-inspired visors and other knickknacks. The cosmetics will be available via the Arcade Cosmicube, which is due out November 12.

Among Us has added new player roles in a big update

Compared to many of the tabletop social deduction games which inspired it, Among Us is fairly straightforward. Goodies, baddies, and that's it. Well, last night it took a step towards its roots with the addition of four new roles which can change how you play your character—and how you need to think about other people's characters. Say hullo to the Scientist, the Engineer, the Guardian Angel, and the Shapeshifter.

Crew roles and monetization arrive in Among Us' latest patch

An 'emergency meeting' called by Among Us developer Innersloth has revealed that the latest update to the social deduction game is a big one: it's not only adding a new shop where you can buy all manner of cosmetic items for your little crewmembers, it's also adding in entirely new roles for crew to fill during the game. You're no longer simply either a crewmember or imposter: now you can be assigned roles like scientist and engineer as well.

The video below features a cameo by Kevin the Fortnite Cube, and it provides a brief rundown of everything new in the patch - which, incidentally, you can download right now. Each new role has special abilities: Scientists can access crew vitals at any time, the engineer can use vents, while the shapeshifter can disguise themselves as other crewmembers. Ghosts now get the guardian angel role upon death, which allows them to protect surviving crewmembers from alien attacks.

The update also introduces an item shop and progression path. As you play Among Us, you'll earn beans, XP, and pods for completing daily challenges and just doing normal Among Us things, such as spacing your fellow players when they're acting sus. You can buy items, bundles, and new Cosmicubes with beans, or with stars purchased for real money.

New Roles & Cosmicubes - Out Now!

Crewmates!!!

The latest major update for Among Us - version 2021.11.9 - just launched and is out now on all platforms! The Role & Cosmicube update features adjustable Roles, an all new store, and a progression system!

New Roles

A whole new level of gameplay is here. These 4 brand new Roles add a ton of complexity and new gameplay to the social deduction mechanics you know and love!

More information can be found in the Lobby Settings, but here’s a quick rundown:

Crewmate Roles:
  • Scientist: Access vitals at any time. Complete tasks to recharge your battery.
  • Engineer: Can use the vents.
  • Guardian Angel: Cast a protection shield around the remaining Crewmates.
Impostor Role:
  • Shapeshifter: Disguise yourself by morphing into any other Crewmate.

And like most of our game settings, these Roles are completely customizable! Add or remove whatever you like, change the probability, and even alter individual abilities.

Cosmicubes

You: Wants more cosmetics, collabs with other games, and progression.
Us: Wants to give everyone more things, needs to survive and pay for server costs, and do more cool stuff.

Cosmicubes are a new way for you to get exclusive cosmetics and show off your gear! Space bean drip, as they say.

Here’s what this includes:
  • Brand new customization options - both free and paid. Visor cosmetics and special name plates make it even more fun to change up your look, plus additional pets, hats, and skins.
  • Cosmicubes and unlockable cosmetics. Even more themed items are now unlockable via our new branching Cosmicube system! Play the game, gather resources, and reap the rewards of your murde-- uh, I mean, tasks. Cosmicubes are a special feature for Among Us! There will be both paid and free varieties, and have more premium sets of themed items.

All cosmetics are purely visual and do not have any effect on gameplay or gameplay options. You might have noticed that the game doesn't demand much in terms of cost, but the upkeep as a small indie team is quite large. To keep the game going, servers running, and give everyone more free cosmetic options, we’re excited for the Cosmicube update! And then if anyone feels like supporting us, then the paid cosmetic option is there too.

If you bought DLC cosmetics from the Steam store, no worries - those will be transferred over. You should get an in-game pop up showing you how to connect your cosmetics with your account. Keep in mind you can only do this once.

Please check out our full dev log post on our website to learn more about how it works!

Account Linking, Achievements, and more!

New items and XP means a need to be able to aggregate and link your Among Us account to different platforms! For most platforms, you'll be able to log in, link, and save your progress and cosmetics using the same account.

Read the in-game instructions VERY carefully to make sure you don’t overwrite the wrong account!

There are some new achievements and controller changes in this update too. See the full dev log for more info.

What's Next?

Among Us for Xbox and PlayStation will launch on December 14, so you can expect a whole new crew to join us in space! We still have plenty of things we want to add into the game like the next map, more roles, and other gameplay features…so keep an eye out. But for now, happy venting!

Cheers,
Victoria

Among Us' next "major" update gets a livestream reveal this week

Among Us has a chonky update on the way, and you're going to find out more about it this week. Innersloth has revealed on Twitter that it's hosting a five-minute presentation tomorrow (November 9) at 11am PST / 2pm EST / 7pm GMT to share what's coming.

Suitably called Emergency Meeting, the livestream will delve further into what roles are on the way alongside some other things the developer isn't revealing just yet. That said, Riot has teased a League of Legends crossover in the latest Progress Days trailer, which features a shot of some crewmates with LoL-style accessories. You'll be able to watch the lowdown on the next major Among Us update on YouTube here when the time comes.

Earlier this year, the Among Us devs released a brief roadmap of things they are working on bringing to the game, though they didn't expand upon any in great detail.. We know that the sheriff and scientist make up two of the coming roles and that the general idea is to give players new ways to play. The team also revealed that they are working on a Hide-and-Seek mode to go with a new map. You'll need to wait until tomorrow, though, to see how much of this will be in the next update.
