Site Surveillance - Solitude

Greetings Operatives!

Welcome to Solitude, one of several off-world sites used by Lemnis Industries in their project to save humanity. We're here to provide you with some intel on the site, to better prepare you if sent there for missions.

As you'll be able to see from the surveillance photos, the Solitude site sits on a snow-covered mountainside, and is surrounded by boulders and ice, meaning it could be a considerably tricky location to traverse; you'll be needing to keep your wits about you.

Legend has it that the name Solitude stems from the site's construction team; starting off as a team of twelve, all but one member died during an extreme snowstorm. In the months leading up to a rescue team arriving on site, the sole survivor worked entirely alone; once back, he never spoke again.

Your mission at the Solitude site will be to assist the Lemnis Gate project in maintaining a steady flow of energy for operations, in one of two ways: either by protecting a pair of Resistors, which contain and stabilize XM to allow us to draw on a near limitless supply of raw energy, or, by destroying these Resistors to prevent potentially damaging energy surges. Either way, unknown assailants are standing by to try and prevent you from reaching your objective.

As you can see from the surveillance photos, the large central bunker is likely to draw the most conflict, with multiple points of entry and little cover leaving you particularly vulnerable to attack as you attempt to make it over to the Resistors. We'd recommend utilising a combination of speed and the little cover you do have here to make it safely across this area and reach the Resistors.

If you're tasked with attacking Resistors, making use of the multiple entry points to the main bunker are a great way to help compensate for your lack of cover as you approach them, and some well-placed sniper and rocket shots mean you'll be able to attack from a safe distance! On the other hand, if you're on the defensive, you're going to want to make the most of Proximity Mines and Attack Pods, particularly on any blind spots, to save you being ambushed by the enemy - and don't forget, toxic chemicals from Toxin's Tox Cannon could be very useful when covering multiple entrances!

Whilst it could be tempting to allow all of the action to play out inside the covered spaces within Solitude, you'd be remiss not to take advantage of the ice-covered pathways and the additional cover they provide; whether you're attacking or defending the Resistors, this space could be perfect for ambushing the enemy as they attempt to utilise one of the various bunker entrances and exists, and may prove a useful space for some Proximity Mines and Attack Pods.

Good luck out there, Operatives. Don't forget: Earth's future is in your hands.

Lemnis Gate is Releasing 28 September | BETA 22 - 26 July

A message from Ratloop Games Canada about Lemnis Gate:

Turn-based FPS Lemnis Gate begins beta testing on July 22

Lemnis Gate is a strange looking thing. It's a turn-based strategy FPS on a time loop, a counter-intuitive mashup of genres if there ever was one, but it also somehow seems to work: We were "really impressed" by our recent preview session, saying the game "feels like it borrows just enough from each [genre] to create a unique, yet fast-paced experience where there's always room to improve."..

Lemnis Gate BETA begins 22 July - See How You Can Join

Greetings Operatives,

As we begin July, we know many of you have been eagerly anticipating news on the Lemnis Gate BETA! Today, we'll be sharing information on when the BETA will run, what you can play in terms of modes and maps, and how you can join us, as well as reveal some information on the BETA exclusive content you can earn for taking part!

Let's jump right in.

Lemnis Gate BETA - When can you play, and what can you play in the BETA?

The key news you've all been waiting to hear. We're happy to share that the Lemnis Gate BETA will begin on 22 July at 18:00 BST and end on 26 July at 18:00 BST! It is free to join and you'll only need to get your hands on a Steam key (read on for more information on that!). There's no limit on playtime during the BETA period, so you’ll be able to play as much as you like.

Here's what you will have access to during the BETA:
  • All 7 operatives, each equipped with their own unique weapons and skills. Every operative brings something different to the team, giving you endless possibilities for anything your opponent can throw at you! Get ready and prepare your strategies in advance by checking out their abilities in this YouTube Playlist.
  • 2 Game Modes: Retrieve XM and Domination
    • Retrieve XM tasks you with retrieving XM and bringing it back to your spawn point. Whoever has secured the most XM by the end of the final round will be declared the winner
    • Domination tasks you with activating and claiming Particle Accelerators spread across the map. The winner is decided by who controls the most Accelerators at the end of the final round.
  • 4 Maps:
    • Quarry (Retrieve XM)
    • Tectonic Wells (Retrieve XM)
    • The Arbor (Domination)
    • Chimera (Domination)
The remaining Game Modes and maps will be available in the full game, releasing 3 August 2021.

So we've discussed game modes and maps, however it's just as important to discuss Match Types! In the Lemnis Gate BETA you'll be able to play in the following ways:
  • 1v1 Turn Based - Each player takes turns adding operatives into the time loop
  • 2v2 Turn Based - Each player takes turns adding operatives into the time loops one at a time in teams of 2
  • 2v2 Teammates Play Together - Both players act at the same time on one team, and then the other team get to do the same on their turn.
  • 1v1 Turn Based local – Play with your friends at home either by swapping seats or passing the controller back and forth!
  • 2v2 Turn Based Local – Play with your friends at home either by swapping seats or passing the controller between all 4 of you!

How do I join the Lemnis Gate BETA?
The Lemnis Gate BETA will be playable on PC through Steam and will be free to everyone.
In order to access it you will need a redemption code that will be available from a number of different channels, including @LemnisGateGame on Twitter and the Lemnis Gate Discord server. Keys will also be available via Twitch Drops from the moment the BETA goes live.

As a thank you for joining the BETA, you'll have the opportunity to earn BETA exclusive Operative and weapon skins for ALL of the operatives (and even the reconnaissance drone!). These skins represent Chameleon Company, a legendary unit famed for activating the first leg of the Quantum Highway. This will also give you a chance to experience some of the progression systems in the game (more on this topic will be revealed soon). The “Chameleon Company” skins are exclusive to the BETA and you can gradually unlock them as you play. The skins you unlock will be available for you with the full game at launch.

That wraps up the information we have to share on the Lemnis Gate BETA for today! Which game mode and match type are you going to try first?

Lemnis Gate Dev Diary #2 | Ways to Play

Welcome, Operatives!

The Quantum Highway has opened once again and a new signal has come through.

The second Lemnis Gate Developer Diary is now available for viewing on YouTube. Game Director James Anderson and 3D Artist Corey Kasperski from Ratloop Games Canada, and Community Manager Jens Erik Vaaler from Frontier break down the game's Modes and Match Types.

If you're unable to watch the Dev Diary, we've gathered the core information about Lemnis Gate's Game Modes and Match Types below.

Game Modes:
Players will be able to enjoy 4 separate Game Modes in Lemnis Gate: Retrieve XM, Domination, Seek & Destroy, and Deathmatch. Each puts a unique spin on FPS staples thanks to the 25 second time loop mechanic at the center of Lemnis Gate's gameplay:

  • Retrieve XM
    • In this mode you need to collect Exotic Matter (XM) and return it to your base in order to power the Lemnis Gate, while preventing your enemies from doing the same. The team holding the most XM Pods by the end of the fifth round is declared victorious. Anything can happen when timelines and actions start stacking on top of each other, and nothing is set until the very end.
  • Domination
    • Domination is all about map control. You'll need to work smart to capture and control Particle Accelerators spread across the map. Whoever controls the most by the end of the fifth round is declared the winner. Accelerators are activated on impact and can be quickly triggered by shooting at them. Set up traps to funnel your enemy into a disadvantageous position, and use whatever opportunities you can do seize the Accelerators.
  • Seek & Destroy
    • Seek and Destroy puts you in the role of either attacker or defender. The attacking team has five rounds to destroy Resistors, while the defending team tries to prevent the assault. If any resistors are destroyed by the end of the fifth round, the defending team loses. Once the first half of the match is over, the teams swap roles and the second half begins.
  • Deathmatch
    • As the name suggestions, this mode lets you face off against your opponent(s) in a straight up deathmatch, but with a time loop twist.
Which Game Mode sounds the most exciting to you? Will you challenge your friends in Retrieve XM, or take them to task in Deathmatch? Let's hear what your favourite is!

Match Types:
In Lemnis Gate, there are multiple ways to play the game, depending on your preference. These can be mixed and matched by number of players and how you want the turn-based time loop mechanic to play out.

  • 1v1
    • Do you enjoy playing solo? Then 1v1 is the Match Type for you. Here you face off against a single opponent over the course of a match to determine who controls the greatest team of operatives
  • 2v2
    • If you prefer the company of others you can dive into a 2v2 Match Type, where you and a friend face off against two other players as you battle over the objectives.
  • Turn-based
    • Turn-based combat is the core Lemnis Gate experience. In each match you will play five 25 second rounds, and your actions will loop and repeat in subsequent rounds. You and your opponent take turns adding your operatives to the time loop, but you won't know who's won until the final round.
  • Simultaneous
    • Simultaneous is the Match Type for players looking for a different type of challenge. Players add their operatives into the loop at the same time, but time still loops and repeats!
Online play is the fundamental experience of Lemnis Gate, where you'll be matched against opponents of a similar skill level through our matchmaking system in the different Match Types. However, due to the turn-based nature of Lemnis Gate, one of the great additional features of the game is that you can play offline by passing the controller back and forth between players in the same room.

Cross-matchmaking is also available! This is an optional feature that enables you to play against Operatives from any platform, however if you’d prefer to only play against Operatives on the same platform this can be changed in the settings. In addition, those who are looking to challenge their friends can do so in private matches as long as you’re on the same platform. Private matches may not reward XP, but you will be able to determine who has the ultimate bragging rights between you and your friends!

There are a lot of different ways you can play Lemnis Gate and we hope you now have a better grasp of the Game Modes and Match Types you have available in the game. Don't forget to follow us on all our social channels: TwitterFacebookInstagram and YouTube. You should also join the official Lemnis Gate Discord server to talk everything Lemnis Gate with the rest of the community and the developers from Ratloop Games Canada.
