M.A.S.S. Builder News

Upcoming Updates and Patch Notes

After months of working on the M.A.S.S. we're finally ready to announce the update release timing, which honestly isn't far at all. In fact, we'll be releasing the update on this coming Saturday November 30th (GMT +7). As we've mentioned in an old news post, we wanted to release this update just to provide a way for players to share their builds as soon as we finished it thus the update will only feature the sharing system, aptly named as the M.A.S.S. and nothing else. There will be no new missions, no new contents, or any balance updates at all. As such, this patch notes will be a recap on how the system works!

Patch Notes: Added the M.A.S.S. (Mecha Asset Sharing System)

The Mecha Asset Sharing System is a system where players can easily share their M.A.S.S. units with each other through an export and import function. To paraphrase an old news post, players will be able to export and import "presets." Presets can be individual parts like head, neck, arm, etc. all the things you can customize with in-game and anything that's attached to those individual parts. However, we will also allow players to export "sets" such as all the parts pertaining to the arms (arms + shoulders) or the legs (upper + lower + feet).

When exporting, a thumbnail will also be created alongside the group or piece and players can customize their thumbnails during the process to an extent such as the zoom amount of the piece, the angles, and even to show the frames attached to the piece or not. These are all to help players show the parts that have been exported and it'll also help players get a preview of the parts when importing.

When importing, you will be required to put the asset file + its thumbnail into the appropriate folder in your Documents folder. It will show up in-game in the Import menu as shown above. You can select the parts you wanted to import into your current build from the thumbnail list with each of them showing the Preset name as well as the creator's name.

That will be everything for the update. We'll also share our builds when the update is released through our Discord channel linked below. Hope to see you all have fun with each other's build, shared through this system!

WIP: Update TImeline

Welcome back to another WIP update for 0.12.0. This week, we're talking about the timeline of 0.12.0. Let us just get it straight out, 0.12.0 featuring the M.A.S.S. will be released at the end of November. Patch notes incoming soon. What about the big guy on the banner? Well, that's something to look forward to in 0.13.0.

Let us delve further into this. We have decided to break all the updates we wanted to make in 0.12.0 into a few pieces, one of them is the M.A.S.S. and the other is the ending of M.A.S.S. Builder's story. We thought to ourselves, since the M.A.S.S. is mostly finished, why don't we just update it for our players to have fun sharing their builds ASAP? We know it's one of the most requested systems and we don't want you to have to wait until everything else take months to finish. Also, Christmas is coming up and we think sharing builds should be a nice Christmas gift to other players... right? So! As mentioned above, expect 0.12.0's release in a few weeks!

Now, let's get to the other part of this WIP update, regarding the big guy and what we'll be doing in 0.13.0 briefly. As we shared months ago, we wanted to finish M.A.S.S. Builder's stories, and it will be done with the 0.13.0 update. This guy shown here is an up-and-coming boss for one of the new missions. While it might not show, this one's a really big guy that will definitely bite your M.A.S.S. if you let it get a chance.

More on 0.13.0 later after 0.12.0 drops! We hope to release the patch notes soon so you can prepare for the coming update!

WIP: 0.12.0 Mecha Asset Sharing System Preview

Welcome back to another WIP update for 0.12.0. We're going all out in showing you the M.A.S.S. or the Mecha Asset Sharing System this week! Hopefully, it will be able to provide you with the satisfaction as it did to us when we were discussing and creating the system. Let's get into it straight away.

First, we're adding a new customization mode "Preset" to handle the exporting and importing of assets into the game. You'll find it in the usual place alongside other options.

As we've shown in the sneak peeks before, you can choose to export either as an individual slot or a set. In addition to that though, you can also choose to export your paint or decal data as well. When not exporting paint data, the parts will be set to gray color to mimic priming a model to get painted later.

After all selections, the thumbnail on the left will also get exported alongside the Asset file. You can move, turn, and do a few more things regarding the thumbnails from within the game itself, such as hiding the frame parts to just show your asset.

Finishing the exporting process will require you to name your Preset. The game will also add your PMC's name inside the asset as the creator of the asset to give you credit.

The files will be exported into your Documents folder automatically and categorized by the slots of the assets.

Of course, you can always use any Image Manipulation Program to further edit your thumbnails before you share your .mass and .jpg file to any other players.

On the flip side, what if you got your hands on some perfect looking assets you'd like to add into your collection? The import process is here to get them into the game for you!

When importing, you will be required to put the asset file + its thumbnail into the appropriate folder in your Documents folder. It will show up in-game in the Import menu as shown above. You can select the parts you wanted to import into your current build from the thumbnail list with each of them showing the Preset name as well as the creator's name.

Everything's the same for exporting and importing weapons.

That'll be all for today and the M.A.S.S. We hope we'll be able to update them into the game sooner than later, as it is something we're fully focused on making work this update... we might even ditch some other parts just to update the system into the game for all of you, but for now, we'd like to ask you to wait, see you later!

WIP: 0.12.0 Assets Sharing Sneak Peek

Welcome back to another WIP post for M.A.S.S. Builder, featuring the Assets Sharing System (M.A.S.S.) once again! It's just a small sneak peek to how we've designed the systems and what it could eventually do!

For now, it's just about the "export" part of the system, where you can export either a preset "group" or "invididual" pieces of a slot. The example above shows the "Body group" which includes the Upper Body, Middle body, and Lower Body slots. There are multiple groups available like Head, Legs, Arms, and many more that would allow the ease of usage.

When exporting, a thumbnail will also be created alongside the group or piece and players can customize their thumbnails during the process to an extent such as the zoom amount of the piece, the angles, and even to show the frames attached to the piece or not. These are all to help players show the parts that have been exported and it'll also help players get a preview of the parts when importing, which we'll discuss when the time comes.

That will be all about the export part for now. Stay tuned for more updates soon! And as always, you can talk to our developers and suggest any ideas or provide any concerns regarding the system through our feedback hub or the Discord server!

M.A.S.S. Builder: Impressions from Tokyo Game Show 2024

Welcome back to another WIP for M.A.S.S. Builder! This week we'll talk about the Tokyo Game Show 2024 event that we've attended last week! First of all, thank you to everyone who visited our booth during the event! It's great to see the faces of people still following the development of the game and hearing about the love you still have for it.

This is our first Tokyo Game Show ever and it was as overwhelming as we thought with all the great games at the show. But, M.A.S.S. Builder has garnered a lot of interests from you guys, and we've had a great time showing the game to everyone as well as welcoming you fans who came to ask a lot of questions about the progress of the game.

The free stickers were a hit to most people who wanted something from the game. We've also got a shikishi from our artist available for anyone who tried the demo at the event.

Now, let's head back to providing WIP progress for the game which were teased during the event, the M.A.S.S. We are currently working on the system and we'd like to show you this small teaser image for now.

Well, it's a teaser image that doesn't explain much, but let us further dive into the system concepts. From the feedbacks we've received through our discord and other medium of discussion, the system will work as following.

Players will be able to export and import "presets." Presets can be individual parts like head, neck, arm, etc. all the things you can customize with in-game and anything that's attached to those individual parts. However, we will also allow players to export "sets" such as all the parts pertaining to the arms (arms + shoulders) or the legs (upper + lower + feet). You can partly see each set in the part customization menu in the current game, but we'll showcase it further when the system is done to that part.

Aside from that, you will also be allowed to choose whether you'd like to export the paintjobs and decals attached to those parts as well. We will further clarify how each thing are done later as well.

That will be all for this WIP update. We hope you continue having fun with M.A.S.S. Builder and see you again soon!
