New War Dust Middle East Night Map Released!

Hello everyone,

War Dust has a new map update!

Middle East night map takes us to a gorgeous evening on a beautiful desert oasis. The moon glistens on the sea while palm branches sway in the breeze. Suddenly, the silence is obliterated by the arrival of 64 fierce fighters battling for control of this key outpost in the epic struggle between Coalition and Mercenaries for dominance across War Dust!

Changelog:

- Added Middle East night version (still needs some optimization work)
- Added LIV support (if anyone uses it then please test it, huge thank you!)
- Added option to completely disable Night Vision (off by default). For those not familiar with the Night Vision feature, if enabled in options, you can turn it on or off during gameplay with any grip press while your hand is at the top of your head.
- Single player mode disabled temporarily due to unexpected issues. Will be back soon!

War Dust VR Now Has a Playtest App!

Hello everyone,

Your voice matters! Download the War Dust VR Play Test app today and get ready to fight on the newest experimental battlefields as War Dust evolves and improves.

You and an army of testers will tryout the newest builds for added/changed game mechanics, bugs, server stress, suggestions, ideas, logs, feedback!

Whether you own War Dust already, or don't, you can get in on this amazing opportunity to be the first on the scene when new test builds are uploaded. War Dust Playtest app will also occasionally combine testers and regular War Dust players to create massive battles in order to stress test the servers and see how the game responds under heavy loads. Being a War Dust Playtester will have a lot of advantages and unique VR experiences, so join us for a new adventure!

Just visit the War Dust VR Store page and click on the "Request Access" button. For the first couple of days the game build being tested is open and playable and everyone is instantly approved! After the initial trial period it will be closed most of the time (only opened for special testing), so if you want immediate access to test out WD this weekend, now is the time.

Important: The War Dust Playtest build download is 11+ GB. So please expect that download size to install the app.

Mid week update

-Further optimization on netcode

-Added single player mode with official rotation

-Added 2 new region servers : EU(Amsterdam) and ASIA(Tokyo). Please note that once you are for example on the EU server, you won’t be able to play with US server players. To see the amount of players in a certain region, please switch to it and check Server Stats in the main menu.

-Added game options to spawn room (currently on right hand side, but this is not the final place).

-Added synchronization of players level/rank, so for example beside names on the scoreboard, you can see other players' level (5 different colors of stars, from darkest to gold). Rank is calculated from average level on all classes. Star changing color every 10, max is 50.

-Added nearly 200 cheaper (for GPU) material/shader versions for fastest settings, it should decrease GPU load. And because of this shaders stripping I added back post processing on fastest settings.

-Fixed spawning under the map on the Middle East, removed collision on tent ropes, fixed missing wall.

-Added script that detects players in spawn room with weapons and prevents killing others there .
Increased distance of explosion sound on frag and sticky.
If a player lands in a full room, it should be moved back to the "search for new room" event , hopefully no more rooms with above cap players amount (46).

-Players attacking home base (X or Y) won’t cause any damage to other players in their home base anymore (anti spawn camping solution, vehicles still can be destroyed) .

- Some tweaks on Terrain material on Kaoh Kreik maps

Mid week update

changelog :

-Lot of optimizations on the netcode side. It should decrease lags on peak times. Still more to do in that area, but that will be next time.
-Stage 2 of solving the “Please Wait” bug.
-Stage 2 of solving the “Can’t choose the team” bug.
-Some changes in options in the menu. Removed advanced options
-Added 2 new options :
1. Vehicle Camera toggle :
If it’s off then the old way is used. If it’s on, then you can lock the camera view while driving the vehicle. To turn on the fixed camera view flick your thumbstick up. To turn it off, flick up again. To turn on a 3rd person view, flick your thumbstick down. To turn it off and go back to free cam view, flick down again.
2. Compass on right hand. You can turn it on/off in main menu options

Sunday update

- First attempt to fix the “Please Wait” bug. If it’s detected, player will be moved to main menu (temporary solution)
- First attempt to fix new bug causing double weapon on Engineer class
- Further improvement of RAM usage. About 1-2 GB saved.
- Added lock view on vehicles. To enable/disable just move thumbstick up or down (depends what view you would like to have)

PS. We are aware of all issues with the game during peak times, sooner or later we will smash them all!
