Pixelmash 2022 Now Available With Dynamic Vector Layer Support

Get ready for another pixel art revolution—Pixelmash 2022.0 is ready for you to download and now supports non-destructive dynamic vector layers via SVG file importing! Vector layers in Pixelmash can be infinitely transformed with full fidelity, maintaining smooth outlines and single-pixel line width for strokes regardless of scaling or rotation, and support all of Pixelmash’s adjustable layer effects.

Importing SVGs into other pixel art apps produces unwanted anti-aliasing effects and doesn’t allow infinite adjusting of transforms without introducing unwanted jaggies and irregular stroke widths. If you want to perfect the pixels in an imported SVG layer in Pixelmash, simply bake the layer into a fixed-resolution pixel layer and tweak pixels at will.

With dynamic vector layers, Pixelmash now gives you unprecedented flexibility in pixel art creation. You can now begin your design work in vector art software (we recommend Affinity Designer, Adobe Illustrator, or the free open-source Inkscape), and then effortlessly convert it into pixel art by importing into Pixelmash as an SVG file. Pixelmash’s advanced animation, layer effects, and dynamic resolution tools let you quickly transform these non-destructive layers into beautiful assets for your video game or art projects.

Coming Soon To Pixelmash 2022.0: SVG Vector Layer Importing!

Get ready for another pixel art revolution - Pixelmash 2022.0 is coming out very soon and will support dynamic vector graphics layers via SVG file importing! Note in the video how the vector layers can always be dynamically transformed, maintaining smooth outlines and single-pixel line width for strokes regardless of scaling or rotation, and support all of Pixelmash’s adjustable layer effects (here we use the Colorize effect to add atmospheric distance shading). Coming very soon, watch this space!

Pixelmash 2021.4 - Now with TEXT!

Pixelmash 2021.4 is here! The new version adds a long-anticipated feature: text! Text is now available as a layer effect to be added on top of any layer. It has all the usual controls you might expect, and is especially powerful when combined with Pixelmash's other layer effects, tools, and animation capabilities. We can't wait to see what you create!

What's New:
 • Added the Text layer effect. Use it to overlay text on any layer with control over font, color, alignment, opacity, and much more! Be sure to try it in combination with other layer effects to add gradients, borders, etc.

Pixelmash 2021.1 Release
New in Pixelmash 2021.1:
Particles: Burst and Stream (and Field)
We've expanded the Particles effect significantly by adding two new types: Stream and Burst. Stream is perfect for sending out particles sequentially from a specific point (think smoke from a fire or bullets from a gun), while burst sends all of its particles at once from a center point (think fireworks). The existing type is now called Field, and it's perfect for effects which cover the whole image, like falling leaves, rain, or snow. To use particles, simply draw an instance of your particle and apply the Particle effect to that layer.

Particles: Randomness, Flicker, and Wobble
We've also added several new settings for all particle types, including particle lifetime, start time, an emitter randomness slider which lets you control variations for each emitter type, a new Flicker effect which will turn particles on and off over time, and a new Wobble effect which will move particles back and forth over time.

HSV Color Chooser
We've updated the color chooser with a third color type: HSV! You can toggle between RGB, Hex, and now HSV by simply clicking the label on the color chooser.

Pixelmash v2021.0 is now available! Now featuring particle effects!

With v2021, Pixelmash now features particle effects!

Apply the Particles effect to any layer, and Pixelmash will randomly place many copies of that layer and animate their position, scale, and rotation over time according to values you can set in the editor. Perfect for creating rain, snow, falling leaves, rising steam, and much more! We can't wait to see what the community comes up with.

We've put up a video about the new update here: youtu.be/f5YSuk8Qw4U
